Thank you for this video. I had problems with straight cuts. Like one other comment, years ago in home economics class we were taught to pull the thread and stretch the fabric. I have been doing that for years and still had problems. Thankful for this video. So much easier and able to obtain a straight cut. Thank you for all your videos. You do an excellent presentation of what and how you are working your quilts. As a beginner on quilts you are helping me a "LOT".

When I was in Home Economics in school (60 years ago), our teacher would have us pull thread until it went all the way across. Then if it didn't line up, we had to stretch the fabric. Thankful for the tools we have today. Thank you for this great video.

When making multiple cuts as in cutting strips for binding, borders or strips for piecing many years ago I was taught to stop and rearrange the fabric and restraighten edge even though it looks straight because it likely isn’t. I had forgot about that. Thanks for a great reminder.

@@TiffanysQuiltingLife best I remember, cut a small part of selvedge off. Ruffle edge to separate fabric weave. Select one strand and slowly pull it out. It will follow the straight weave in fabric. I do it another way now, cut a slit in selvedge and rip it. Will give you a straight line with the fabric weave. 🥰
@TiffanysQuiltingLife
@TiffanysQuiltingLife Год назад
Ya I have ripped before as well. I really only do that when I can't get it straight cause it's an older more wonky fabric.

It's another reason that some rip the fabric, then trim. The better the quality though, the harder it is to rip to get a straight starting edge. I feel like it rarely comes off the bolt straight.
