How to Deal with a Negative Book Review 

Thanks so much for this. Publishing a book has been way more difficult than I ever could have imagined. And seeing that someone doesn’t like it can feel so defeating. :(

I've seen reviews where people automatically give a lower rating because they don't like "that kind of book"..... then why'd you read it? And why did you say that it was well written, but you're giving it a rating based your dislike of the genre or category? This is why poor ratings should be taken with a grain of salt. This goes for any product or service available for review. People rate based on a personal preference or bias and not on the quality of the product.

Like, how difficult can it be? If it's constructive try to learn from it, if it's just blatantly hating the book, ignore it.

Thanks. But I got negative feedback from one of my ARC reviewers... It seems his favorites and mine are opposites. He likes a lot of description and I don't like a beginning that drags on too long.

How to Deal With a Negative Book Review: You don't. Book reviews are for readers, not authors. If you can't handle negative feedback, you're not ready to be a writer, and you're definitely not ready to be published.

You can post a negative review on Facebook to show your fans what is wrong with it.
