A tale as old as time. It seems like everyone has "A story of the angry neighbor", and this one is mine... #angryneighbor #neighbors #arborist #treeremoval #treework
I guess the moral of the story is anyone can be professional when conditions are easy. It was good practice to be professional with an unhappy neighbor for the inevitable time a client is unhappy. Side note on Vic I think he got more angry when I didn't! Thanks for filming another one of my jobs Zach it's always a fun day.
Me too, I kinda wnayed him to come over so maybe things could be resolved on a positive note, but I also think a confrontation would have been unlikely to end that way 🤷♂️
Absolutely! My experience with angry folks has always ended best woth being quiet and listening and responding gently. They tend to get embarrassed and apologize later. You just gotta be willing to wait for it.
Nice to see father and son working together. To me as a father, it doesn't get any better. Working with my son in his tree business is awesome. Today, I get the pleasure of working with a couple of my grandchildren finishing a cleanup, life is great! Have a wonderful day.
I think you meant that you bring your dad along to help when the company you a climbing for is a little "short staffed" or "under staffed." You bring a big guy, with sores on his knuckles, when an employer is "under handed." 😂 Great job with that tree, I always love watching you tree climb 😊👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks man! I don't work on many of them here in Ohio either. They are plentiful in a lot of wooded areas, but they make poor yard trees and so nobody plants them.
I have a hard time believing you would be aggressive in a response to anyone. You really project a calming demeanor and have a great way of explaining things.
Aw thanks Kevin. I've found that tends to be the best experience for everyone amd also the quickest route to a solution. I'm not perfect, but I try my best
Hahaha, tell John I'm borrowing that tshirt idea when I run into that situation. I've gotten away from notching unless I know I need it for directional felling or huge widths when negative rigging. Now I just make bypass cuts with the bottom cut on the side I am pushing it to fall.
Haha, I'll tell him. I would have been much more inclined to under cut amd over cut except that it didn't work out so well when I did that other hickory.
I have a birds nest on my chipper in the left light. It was in the right one, we took it out and they made a new one on the left now. It has eggs in it as well
@@zaccheus honestly im not sure bc we moved it and the nest disappeared from where we moved it and then it ended up in the left side and I never seen the momma in the nest but eggs are in there and they dont fall out while driving or while chipping
good work man, just getting started on my business but have been climbing, pruning and removing for years. Your videos are great to watch and get inspiration from!
I just bought that Milwaukee saw the other day. I am super impressed. It has way more power than I thought it was going to have. As far as the ground guy throwing too many wraps… that is such an easy mistake to make.
Thats awesome! I'm glad to hear you're satisfied! I really like it too. I kinda want to compare it to the husky. I think they both have their place, but the milwaukee is more cost effective I think. And you're right, it is. Especially when we change rope diameter and bollard diameters/materials rather often.
It's the only electric saw I've used extensively. It's definitely not faster than a 201, but it's fast enough to be worth not having to start it for me 🤷♂️
I was leaning towards the Husqvarna, but just don’t use it enough to warrant getting into that platform. So I just picked up the new dewalt 60v top handle since the kit came with two 9 amp hour batteries which will work in my other tools. Haven’t climbed with it yet, but have used it on the ground a few times, and all I can say is wow. First battery saw, and I couldn’t believe the chain speed and torque. Great videos man, been watching since I found your channel, just my first comment lol Also everyone has a crazy neighbour, it’s just how crazy they are that matter lol
@@zaccheus I was just commenting on this trucks pro's. The older trucks, like most anything else were built with longevity in mind, NOT "planned obsolesces." (Easy to tell sign: Look at the frame. This truck's frame looks like a BATTLEAXE~! Short/thick/overbuilt. The even OLDER trucks were surprisingly built by Dodge, stodgy style, but the designs were simple "Brute Force"! (Hmm, that's a good name for a Punk Rock band, Lol!) Your buddy KNOWS his trucks. 4-wheel drive WITH rear duelies?... FORGEDABOUDID! With that black, I'd name her "NIGHTMARE". (Remember dude, a truck like that is worthy of a kick-ass name, DON'T forget this shit I'm tellin' ya'!) Make sure it's got a "Granny Gear" on it for hauling big chunks of Cottonwood or Hackberry type stuff that weighs heavy. ~Best, "Michigan Mister"
Yeahh, me too. Especially folks with pools or shiny black cars. Obviously we always go clean up what drifts over, but it's kinda hard to do anything about a pool.
Seems like neighbor Vic should have talked with the residents who owned the home and had the trees cut down. (Where the logs and chips were.) They could have told him it was going to be taken care of soon. Or he just wasn't satisfied with their answers.
Was that a shag bark hickory or a snag bark? lol. Good of John to have your back. Now I truly don't mean to seem overly skeptical...but...from my very limited interactions with you, I just find it hard to believe you would've come down very hard on the neighbor. I just don't think that is how you were raised. Sounds very much like a no win situation. I'm glad it seems to have been satisfactorily resolved. Oh yeah, Dad got better. Good stuff. Stay safe buddy.
Haha, definitely a snag bark 😂 I didn't give the neighbor much of a hard time when he called. I just calmly told him that I would notify the folks involved of his complaint. That was really all I could do 🤷♂️ I just didn't want him to leave a bad review 😅
I had a guy just last week try and pull me out of the tree by yanking on my climb line, the neighbors called the cops, but he was like that would not even talk to me and only apologized after he heard the cops ask if I wanted to press charges There are some people who just can’t be pleased
How are you liking the Milwaukee battery saw? We currently use a couple of Echo's, the CS-355T and the battery DCS-2500T. The battery saw gets most of the use now. Considering getting the Milwaukee just to compare. I know it is heavier but it typically ranks higher in most reviews.
I like it! I'm pretty sure it's heavier than my 201 and probably doesn't cut faster than it. But I don't have to start it annddd I can cut big wood with it which makes it perfect for crane work when I need ti be able to talk to the operator while cutting
Excellent consideration! If you are in a smooth bark tree that is more likely to slip, it's definitely something to consider. I have seem lanyard pop off of the top of a spar too so by having both tie in points above the sling you don't have any real captured tie in point. You'll also probably have to have your lanyard and climbing rope pretty close and that kind defeats their redundancy against saw cuts. I guess you have to evaluate the situation and determine what is the safest for that scenario.
Exactly why advertising on the side of your truck is a bad idea. Let’s anyone who gets upset able to leave a bad review over nothing and ruin your business
Fair perspective. I think there is a lot of value in building a positive reputation with your name on it. The more people see your name around town, the more they will feel comfortable calling. But it only takes one or two negative experiences to ruin a bunch of positive experiences too. You're definitely on to something there
I knocked the rakers down a bit and cut the anti kick tabs off with a grinder. I also discovered that I must have weakened one of the makers with the grinder because it broke off. I think that's why it was so jumpy. This saw hasvery limited chain options because it runs the Oregon 0.325 pitch low pro. I'd really like to find a full chisel non safety chain beciase I think it would do way better woth the slower chain speed.
@brandonswan9247 I haven't looked hard, but a brief search turned up nothing but oem sprockets. I can modify a stihl bar to fit it, I just need a different sprocket. Mayne something will come out with time.
Zach, sometimes it's in people's nature to be Karen's. I've learned from many years of experience, and being in business. Dont even respond to neighbors like that, not worth it
Indeed, but if 10 kind responses yielded nothing and 1 kind response made some kind of positive impact whether I saw the evidence or not, I think it's always better to atleast respond politely no matter how tempting it is to put them in their place 😅
