NCBI has a paper describing an experiment in which an electrical stimulation device-made by the experimenters, not an off-the-shelf item-to command muscles to contract. They compared those results with the person’s maximum contraction ability. The electrical system caused muscle contraction equal to the natural signal. The point, from my point of view/interest, is that the device never gets old, never stops working at random. Getting the signals in to the correct muscles at the correct time is a difficult problem. That was many years ago; no one would be allowed to do that experiment now!

I think my CNS is fried because my lifts were slowly increasing until recently they have gone down a bit. This happens like every 2-3 months, I lift a bit lighter for a week or so and rest and then things start to move up again

my 2 cents is that in short; don't worry about one session, it just be like that sometimes, if one workout is bad, try to sleep eat and hydrate a bit better over the course of the rest of the day, if you do that and the next session is progressively worse, now is likely a good time to deload, take an unplanned day off, maybe re evaluate the progression of your program, etc. day to day performance fluctuations happen and you should only begin to think there is a problem in need of fixing when it becomes a repeat occurrence.

So im a skinny guys that used to not eat enough, stay up late and is a smoker (ex regular weed user) I recently started going to the gym. I changed my sleep routine to get roughly 7-8 hours of sleep (I wake up at 5 am to get my workout done before work and go to sleep at 9-10 but struggle to fall asleep and to sleep well trough the night so I sometimes get 1-2 hours of sleep after work) I changed my diet and now I eat 3 generous meals/day with the first one before going to gym. The gym program worked out exceptionally well for the first two weeks, ive seen noticeable muscle growth on all the groups, mostly on legs but thats not such a feat since I was very skinny to begin with. I thought things where good because Ive been to gym a bunch of years ago but back then I didnt follow a good sleep and diet routine. Aside from feeling a bit sleepy in the morning after gym things where great. One day when I was driving home (also I usually ride my bike to work, its a 10 km ride, but this time I had to use my car)I felt like a small pain in my shoulder that slowly vent down to my back side and by the time I got home I had difficulties breathing in while walking and felt like something was pressing on the right side of my thorax, more like on the side of the thorax under my armpit. This happened to me before a bunch of times and I never understood what is causing it. For the next 5-6 days the pain gradually stopped but in the second and 3rd day its was pretty bad when I was walking outside or leaning over. Also I had a constant feeling of intense 'stress' in the right part of my head, like you have after a very stressful day but I was constant and It started in the morning even if I had a good rest. All in all I had this sensation of exhaustion or that i was about to cath a cold (idk how to describe it better). Ive been to the doctor with this issue when it first came and he said its intercostal neuralgia but from what ive read about it online it shouldnt trigger out of nowhere like this. Anyway, do you believe this can be triggered by CNS fatigue?

Hi. I think that i am going through the same thing, more or less. After two weeks of training, after a back day, a couple of hours later, i felt a sharp pain in my neck, going to my left lower shoulder/lower back. A couple of hours later, i started feeling verry fatigued and i had this sensation of "mild depression" or even "mild anxiety". Fast foward to this day ( a week later) i feel the same, but with a bit less intensity. How did you deal with it? How long did it took to heal from this?
@zznug2837
@zznug2837 4 дня назад
@@CristianLupu-rx6xz when I initially went to the doctor with this issue he prescribed me some anti inflammatory pills and some basic gel for muscle inflammation but these where just numbing the pain and because of that I believe I was doing some movements with my body that where not very good (because I could not feel the pain) so i stopped taking these when I got one of these ‘episodes’. I simply rested a lot and wait it out. It usually takes me one week to be somewhat healed but in bad scenarios it took me even 2-3 weeks to completely heal. It depends on how much stress i put on the pain. If im careful not to trigger the pain then it heals faster, if I do movements that trigger more pain then it takes longer to heal. These are just my observations so its very subjective

I have a big problem with CNS fatigue. I am a late novice, bordering on intermediate lifter. In the past, I've gone into full CNS overtraining from doing heavy deadlifts every week. I've recently moved 3 of my 6 weekly barbell row sets to sundays, after squats, and added some bicep work and some heavy db exercises I hadn't done in a while (partial lateral raises, rear raises) after the first three on wednesdays. I think it's too much, though my muscles can keep up, and I have inarguable and severe symptoms. The past few nights, though I'm always very tired, it's taken me about 2 hours to fall asleep, and then I wake up about 4 ½ hours later (always around 5:30 AM) and can't fall back asleep for another 2½-3 hours. I spend as much as 14 hours of the day in bed and only get around 7 hours of sleep. I genuinely need 10 or more each night. I work hard and I'm a young lifter who was inactive before he started lifting about 21 months ago. Yesterday was that row and bicep day and despite my poor sleep the night before, I still performed very well. I did feel it in my nerves somewhat, but I figured it was at an okay level. Yet, I had that horrible experience hardly sleeping. I urgently need to figure out how, other than just relaxing, taking a break from training, and lowering my stress, I can stop spending 35 hours or more/week trying to fall asleep. I can't make any gains like this and I can't even live life like this.

Hi guys So I started going back to the gym last may (2022) and I’ve been going to the gym consistently 5-6 times a week always training to failure. The past 2 months I’ve been struggling with insomnia fatigue and joint pain. What would you guys suggest to do? The last 3 weeks I’ve been trying to deload but I still struggle with sleep and fatigue issues.
@t9retro723
@t9retro723 7 месяцев назад
I know this is 8 months late, but take 2 weeks minimum off the gym, no lifting, no running, just walking. You should be good after those 2 weeks. A deload won’t really do anything when your cns is in that fatigued state.

Late reply but I'm having the same problem. Started training after years off and I've noticed it really affects my sleep, mood etc.
@ktownsteve
@ktownsteve 5 месяцев назад
Update: I took a deload of about a month and I’ve started to go to the gym 4x a week and I’ve noticed that doing that has actually helped me PR in every compound movement. I made the beginner mistake of going too hard at the gym and now I still lift heavy and hard but I also allow my body to rest and heal. I also rarely have trouble sleeping now (still have the occasional bouts of insomnia but it’s like maybe once a month). One thing that has helped me is taking hot baths every other day. I think it’s really helped my blood pressure which used to be really high 145/90 is now holding steady at 118/68.

How to gauge your CNS fatigue?? By the percentage of what you can do that you normally do, or midweek or the end of the week compare it to the percentage of what you lifted the first day of the week. If you can't do it, you have NOT recovered, meaning there is some waste or nervous fatigue there. That doesn't mean you cant lift, just that your muscles haven't recovered... that's how I manage it... and like the doctors say here, I don't think in terms of CNS fatigue, but how strong or what percentages I can do that one day, which is included as a consideration in the Texas PROGAM Rip and other designed, days to try to lift more, and the next session a bit less to recover but keep training.

Barbell medicine, what happens if you eat every 2 hours vs 3 plus hours (for amino acid levels to drop)? Obviously you will still have protein synthesis’s, but how does that affect muscle growth? how much less muscle gained over time?
@AhmedKhan49
@AhmedKhan49 3 года назад
They really don't like people to be micromanaging their protein intake for the day. It is true that studies show that eating protein every 3-5 hours keeps muscle protein synthesis elevated, but this is only important when your total protein intake in a day is less than ~1.6g/kg of bodyweight (more or less, not a rigid number) and/or if the protein quality is low. Besides this, numerous studies show that as long as people get at least ~1.6g of protein per kg of bodyweight, the frequency of meals doesn't matter in terms of strength and hypertrophy adaptations.

6:10 Paraphrasing: "Breaking things down into CNS fatigue and peripheral fatigue is how humans try to understand things, it's reductionism" and then instead of breaking it down further to explain how just breaking into 2 components is reductionism and not suitable enough for explaining fatigue, he abstracts it into a single component "it's an experience". Basically this genius tried to say we shouldn't be reductionists while applying an even bigger degree of reductionism 🤡
