There were always many protesters at the Mesa Arizona temple during the Christmas lights, and Easter pageant. One thing that I will never forget about it, was that one time there was a member of the LDS church that dressed up as Satan, set up his lawn chair on the sidewalk in the middle of all the protesters screaming and yelling at passers-by, and he held a sign that simply said "these protesters are my followers and they are doing my works". 😅 It was funny to see all the protesters try to avoid him, and move away from him, because they didn't want people to associate them with the sentiment on his sign. And yet the irony was still lost on them.🤦
@@wes2176 I agree. Problem is with talking to people that don’t have their own experiences and/or testimonies like that, just seems like a waste of energy. For the rest of us that are honest with ourselves, we see that common sense and reason points to the reality of the devil and therefore, God. Or even the other way around

I asked a protester where he worked. He said Thiokol. (It was the conference following the Challenger explosion.) I said ‘hey you’re the guys who blew up the space shuttle! He was a bit flummoxed for a moment. He was holding a stack of pamphlets. I asked him ‘hey, how many of those do you have?’ He grabbed a bunch out of a backpack, held them up and said this is all of them. I said ‘cool, let me take half of those for you.’ He literally handed half of them to me. I thanked him and turned and handed my two brothers a third each. And said ‘let’s get handing these out.’ The protester thanked me and walked off. My brothers and I were dying laughing. Jedi mind tricks.
One time we took a homeless guy to conference. It was actually one of the funniest days of my life. He was having the time of his life. Even stood up and sang his heart out. (Not knowing the words) and then he fell asleep on my grandpa… it was great.
My first experience with protesters was at the manti pagent when I was 12 years old. They were just a bunch of people handing out pamphlets and doing … henna tattoos??? HAHAHHAH a bunch of the girls in my young women’s went to get their hands tattooed by them and said that they were just reading them scriptures while doing henna. the girls didn’t care and weren’t really listening so the ladies doing henna were getting annoyed at them 😂. This was also at the height of henna popularity so the girls couldn’t care less what they had to say as long as they were getting free tattoos. Makes me laugh every time I think about it 😂

Remember, their ministers get paid and ours do not. We are considered robbers of their sheep (where's Ammon when you need him). Even though the sheep were never theirs but belong to the true shepherd, they get less money in the offering plate when their membership wanes.
Not conference protestors, but the ones at Hill Cummorah Pageant. They were paid to be there (shock!) and the auxiliary that was running concessions brought them lunch, dinner and water.
Thanks for a great show guys. My preference in dealing with these people when I was young and pretty much didn't have much ammo to dish out was to laugh at them and say "look guys, I'm 19 so I've got to tell you I'm called of God to bear testimony of Jesus Christ not to debate you who obviously have an amazing knowledge of the Bible". Then I would invite them to help me understand the Bible better and set an appointment. Then I would pull out a list of questions that I would keep with me that was produced by anti Christians which had hundreds of topics to choose from that "prove" the Bible false. They would shut their pie hole real quick and never keep the appointment. The Bible is the word of God which Satan has had 2000 years to pervert by influencing men to change, remove and add Content.

Totally agree with K...about them feeling threatened. I really wonder if they ever think about their own background as Protestors scattering to and fro in varying spliter groups here and there...//shortest scripture is "Jesus wept" (emotion) (heart)...I am a convert from the Lutheran Church and many converts are either athiest or come from some other church wanting to check out these people who are called devil worshipers because what they say just does not jive with what they see in the LDS people.
When my husband and I were engaged we went to conference, and I remember seeing a guy in a full on head to toe tight red suit (like one of those weird green screen suits) with devil horns and a pitch fork yelling stuff at people…I remember laughing, I couldn’t help it. My husband was like “shh!! Stop!!.” I found it so hilarious that they couldn’t see just how ridiculous they were. Like Michael Scott from the office totally oblivious…
I love conference protestors! Like the time when they were yelling at my 6 year old daughter as we walked by that she is going to hell because her parents are mormon. That was a nice experience for us as a family ☺
My home teacher told us we were going to hell for sitting in the back row in church🤣😆. I've heard them all from people who make up new rules then share them like they're doctrine 🤣. Always a good time

Years ago at conference a street corner was nearly blocked off by news crews filming sign-carrying protesters shouting, "2...4...6...8, how do you know your bishop's straight?" Knowing that everyone was hungry for a staged incident I said in a loud, exasperated voice as I passed by, "Aw, c'mon!" That was enough to focus every camera on yours truly. By now I was moving by the crowd chanting, "Film at eleven, film at eleven." The looks of sheer hatred from the protesters and especially the news crews was priceless 😅😅😅

Old Testament prophets were not perfect, only Jesus Christ is perfect. Modern day prophets are not perfect but they receive revelation and you can too if you are sincere. Way back in the Seventies a busload of protestors show up and I am not certain now if they invited me to come up to the U of U sorority house where they stayed or not. I went there and officially rebuked them in the name of the Lord! Lots of big guys but I was able to just walk away.
Something I never understand is this: They claim we sound too much like the KJV of the bible and that Joseph copied from it. But then they also claim the Book of Mormon contradict the Bible.... How can it be both? (I haven't watched the video yet so idk if you guys said anything along those lines)

A good friend of mine and I were walking towards the conference center in October and given her cheery nature she smiled at one of the protestors. He then yelled us "just remember those that smile the biggest go to hell the fastest." Having noticed a spelling mistake on his sign I remarked "at least we won't be making spelling mistakes along the way." to which he had no response. Idk I think if you can point out how ridiculous they are or their foolish errors then you're dealing with them fairly well
"Jesus & Satan are brothers" It took me forever to figure out why this bothers them so much. Basically Trinitarians believe God (creator) is wholely unique and a different 'species' than us, his creations. Therefore, to them, it's blasphemous to say they are brothers/the same type of being, because "there can only be one God" I do think they emphasize Satan tho because "God is the same kind of being as the devil" sounds more scandalous than "Jesus is our brother"
Two stories.....in april 2002, I was an usher. For the sunday afternoon session, I was assigned to be outside greeting people. This put me right around the protestors. One of them walked up to a guy in the stand by line, seemingly at random, and just decked him in the face. Cops were right there, grabbed him, and hauled him off. As hes being taken away, he yells out "Ive got a mormon officer here folks, who forgot i have my freedom of speech!" A few years later, I was walking in to conference and one of them yelled out "GORDON B HINCKLEY IS A COLD BLOODED KILLER!!!!". Ok, that hooked me. So I walked up to the guy and asked him what he meant. He said that president hinckley's "unwavering" support of abortion made him a killer. I busted up laughing. Just absolutely lost it, laughed all the way to my seat.
Remember they WERE brothers. Jesus said anyone who follows him is his brother or sister and that's the argument that is used. So remember, we believe they WERE brothers, not that they ARE brothers.

Also, I was raised to challenge things that were not correct or true. Been around them multiple times, even with my kiddos. My approach is to not engage, just be kind. If they have engaged with us, belligerent, I just say, "Thank you for caring. Have a good day," and walk on. It's not like engaging with these people will change hearts and minds. It has to happen another way for them. They're there on a mission.

I drove carriages in downtown SLC many years ago and we were at the South Gate of Temple Square for enough hours to see multiple interactions between the “bashers” and “believers,” or in many cases, tourists who had no idea what they were walking into! We nicknamed the full time bashers, “Bible Betty,” “Johnny Oatmeal,” “Preacher,” “Evangelical Elvis…” They actually work very hard and they take a lot of abuse. I don’t know why they don’t give up.
I wish I had taken and read what The Protesters were handing out as I walked onto Temple Square. I would have gotten exposed to true Church history MUCH sooner.
