How to Deal with Cuts and Scars

Geofatboy demonstrates how he deals with shaving and other cuts, nicks, and weepers. First apply a styptic pencil or the wide stick alum block and directly to the affected area. It will usually heal and close up in minutes, hours, or a day. If the cut is larger, clean the area possible spray hydrogen peroxide in it, and apply Neosporin. Massage the Neosporin ointment into the affected area several times a day to keep the wound from scabbing over and forming scar tissue. This will accelerate the healing time of the injury and will also relieve the pain and aching caused by the cut. You can also apply the ointment directly to the gauze pad, then apply the band aid or adhesive bandage over the affected area. This is a time tested method that has worked for many years. Try it yourself and check your results! Click on "Show More" (below) to purchase the items used in the video or go to ShaveNation.com Please Subscribe, Like, Comment, and share with your friends. Hey Geo, rubbing a wound like you demonstrated with the Neosporin also promotes blood circulation, that really helps the healing process. It's good to do this several times a day. Also, if you get cut or scraped and there's no first aid kit available, if possible, flush the wound with clean water. It reduces the bacterial load until it can be treated properly.

I know what you mean. I recently was making lather above my lather bowl from my Mitchell's Wool Fat and I dropped the ceramic MWF bowl which shattered in the sink. I tried to pry the puck off the broken bowl and cut myself. I used neosporin and bandaged it. I changed it every day. I hadta buy another MWF! I won't do that again! That ceramic bowl is VERY slippery when making lather. From now on, I will set it on the counter and work the brush full of soap. No more holding over my lather bowl.

Hey Geo. I know you get enough fan mail and questions that you could spend hours answering them. Interesting how you use self experience to educate us. I try to pass along helpful suggestions to my grandchildren. They think some of my help is stupid and old fashion. Hey I’m an old person, what can I say. I always enjoy watching your videos. Take care and be safe.

Hand and finger cuts require Crazy Glue. I never tried the CG on my face though. I was in Mexico on vacation and got a very nasty cut on one of my fingers. I did not want to go to a hospital or doctor in Mexico, so I went to a pharmacy and got some rubbing alcohol, Crazy Glue (Kola Loca) and some medical tape. In five minutes I was back in business. The glue even held up while scuba diving. I would use steptic on my face since it really works well. I got some Schick and some Gillette safety razor blades down there as well. They are decent blades too. Thanks for the advice…

Geo I think it's actually the massage the wound that does more work than that cream as it promotes blood flow which helps healing

Bought a Rockwell 6S from Shavenation. Amazing. I noticed that straight razor gents hold the handle very close to the actual razor so I tried that with the DE. I held it right under the head. It worked great! Really good control and excellent shave. It was much better than holding the handle further down. Thought? Video in the future?

Hello Geo, thanks for the video! I don’t know if you ever tried triple antibiotic or not. It is also available over the counter. I have always used that. It has the ingredient of Neosporin plus two others. Three better than one?! Who knows but I always thought so. I also use two other things as well. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter formula; it’s in a tub. It does not dissolve on the skin so that is something you put on before bed. But it is absolutely unbelievable how it helps heal the face! Takes years off! I think. It also contains vitamin E which has been a long-used ingredient for cuts and nicks. And I also use Cica balm cream. That really works too! There are lots of brands/prices on Amazon to choose from. Btw I know everyone likes picking scabs but that is not something you want to do, especially on the face, because that increases the chances of a scar. A scab is part of the body’s mechanism to heal a wound. It protects the skin underneath which is then safe to actually reproduce what it was before. That is science fiction if you think about it but true. Ok take care! The new every day shave videos are great!

Great video as usual. Thanks Geo. In case of bad shaving cuts I also find the "PRORASO Repair Gel" extremely useful. Take care.

When the rare weeper appears, I put a blob of shaving soap on it and leave the blob alone until I finish the pass. Usually, this stops the bleeding even after the mid-pass rinse. I haven't had a "real" shaving cut in quite a long time. Repair gels get so little use that they dry up before I need them. Probably styptic and alum (are they the same thing?) Never forget ice and pressure...god forbid.

No matter how hard I try, I always get irritation on the third pass on the neck when I go against the grain. I use a Wilkinson Sword Classic(the black one, the first version), a 24mm knot Maggard synthetic shaving brush, Proraso shaving soap and an aftershave balm. Anyone else who has irritation after the ATG pass? Could use some advice.

Just don’t do the third pass, some people have sensitive skin and it’s normal get irritated in the neck zone
@DongDonos
@DongDonos 11 месяцев назад
@@badr4363The problem with not shaving against the grain is that there are areas where the razor would hit against the grain, even though that's not your intention. You'll end up with some parts shaved with the grain, while the others are across and against.

Once the wound is closed you can put emu oil on it. Then chances are good that you won't have a scar left.
