I tried to be around negative people, it only makes me angry. I try to understand them, it makes me more angry about their fantasy dream life. I try to inspire them, it makes me more angry. By being less expose to them and staying away from them, I am not angry. #BTA33
@@samguy7209 life is short but bastards and mean ppl, will be bastards. you cant always be the ashtray ppl leave their marks on you....and it's hard to avoid them at work cause you have to work with them... :(
Negativity is a mindset that infects you if you're always surrounded by people who are negative. All the points described by you to either shun or make such people shrug off their negativity are pearls of wisdom, Evan.
Thank you so much for this. Ive started a new job and there is this 1 coworker who is constantly trying to find ways to pick on me; even the minor mistakes she will take note nagging on a constant basis and never happy. Im the type who just wants to avoid confrontation. My exposure to her will reduce so ive decided to remain quiet and positive because i know im trying my best and thats what matters most. If in another 2 weeks shes still on my case I'll try speak to her or speak to the boss instead.
Same here so difficult , when u give ur best and ur co worker picks minimal mistakes and complains ur boss it sucks. Especially when u r new to the job...
Loved this video! Can you do more videos on how to deal with negativity in the workforce? I work in the health care setting and am constantly surrounded by angry professionals, co-workers, and patients. It really drains you after a 12 hour shift!

I have been studying a lot to figure out how to deal with someone like this and you hit the nail on the head that they are time consuming to spread my positiveness more than they do negative rewarding good behavior and pushing them toward their passion it seems like nobody understands that our team would just be better off without this person
Good timing for me, thank you... I aim to be of benefit to everyone but I have a colleague I just cannot please no matter how hard I'm trying. This week I got exhausted by it, more emotionally than physically, but I'm going to limit my time with them but focus the time I'm forced to spend with them on understanding them, finding out exactly what it is they need and helping them to manifest their dream. And if they don't appreciate it I'll just focus on the people who do appreciate me. And spend even less time with them. Thanks again.
My favorite is to try to recognize the positive that they do when they do it. It’s absolutely draining and so exhausting to be dealing with a negative person at work. But it seems almost impossible in any work environment to not find a person or people who suffer from negativity.I am an extremely positive person which a lot of negative people find confusing.
Sometimes, if I am feeling negative, I try to put a fake positive persona on in a workplace, if there's someone I can confide in then I'd be honest but if there's a new system that hinders the job, I would politely point it out if those managing it are open to ideas and perspectives, if not then I just see it as a game and play it. Life is too short to be fuming over some rubbish when you can just see it as a harder level in the game you play called work, if you don't like the game then go for a new game, sometimes certain jobs just suck but it sucks a lot less with decent people around you.
Sometimes no matter how positive you try to be around negative people, they'll sometimes try to use it against you so they feel better about themselves.
That is the reason why you need to surround yourself with positive people so that their aura with resonate with you as well. Thanks for watching and sharing, much love. 💛 #Believe - Feb
I somehow always end up being around super negative friends 'cause I sympathize them, so I try lifting them up, encourage them, and try to give them positive energy, but it seems like they just have problems after problems. They have trouble with their parents, so I advise them to move out, and after moving out another problem at work arose and they just complain non-stop and would talk on the phone for 3 hrs to sometimes all night just complaining and getting mad at people. I'm really sick and tired of this and am thinking of cutting them off 'cause it just seems like they'll never change no matter how much I try to help by being there & I especially feel taken advantage of 'cause they know I will empathize with them which they usually never get from other people. Negative people don't understand how to encourage people who encourage them and at the end of the day they'll only get jealous of you if your situation turns out to be better than them, so staying away from them would be the best option, unfortunately.....
You can't help them if they don't want to accept your help. Don't let yourself suffer from others pain. And remember You " Are What You Surround Yourself With " 😊 #Believe - Feb
I tried to make my negative coworker more positive about the job and people we work with but overtime it seems I have been poisoned to be more negative. I completely agree that limiting exposure and not being around them is the most important bc I tried so hard but was unable to inspire.
I also am the most understanding person. I try to understand people before I judge them. But when a toxic personality trait is a continuous thing, there is no longer any understanding. I see that they are who they are. Also, that isn't an excuse to treat people or talk to people a certain way. I go through things, but I don't bring it to my job. People at my job have nothing to do with what I have going on in my personal life, so I shouldn't make THEM pay for it. But that's just me. I find more and more that I am a rare gem of a human-being. It can be a bit frustrating, but I'm glad I am who I am and not the toxic people I encounter.
Appreciate this Evan and im glad you started off with your first two because they are so important. Trying to be the "good guy" can work against you when dealing with manipulators or those with low self esteem. Smile and do your work or keep it professional and short.
Great, spot on video Evan! I liked, “limit your exposure”. Attitudes Are contagious, is yours worth catching ? I also liked, Come from a place of understanding. When you get to a certain point, you can’t save the world…..
Congratulations on your new job Tiff! :) Glad to know the video came at the right time for you. # 3 Be An Inspiration. I've heard a few successful people saying to BE THE CATALYST. You are the one who can change everyone around you, to be happier, more productive, wealthier, etc.
I definately believe you can look at the situation as a way for you to learn how to manage yourself internally and build resistance. You do have to manage this and as you say, limit exposure. But sometimes its just unavoidable. You can't keep quitting jobs because you hate your coworkers, for example or you will quickly become less attractive to employers who question if you have staying power or not. Tip number 4 is immensely important. At minimum, look at it for growth opportunity and building grit in yourself. There are negative people everywhere. Everywhere! Learning to deal with them is a very important skill and one required for a successful life. 🥰
Watching this after or the tail end of a plandemic. Where negativity is everyone’s first language. Being positive in nature, I’m appreciative of this video. ❤️✨
What if you're living with a negative homeless person? ie If I didn't give them a home, they would be on the streets. Difficult to limit exposure as I work from home. I've tried encouraging/supporting/helping a million diff ways, and this person DOES want to be positive (when they're feeling okay they can admit to/say this) but most of the time, they're focusing on what they don't want! Maddening.

Fuck negative back stabbers , Cut them loose even if it hurts , Here is your final check good day , Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out , Find a better more qualified person to fill there position , Shake off the negative junk , Stay positive , Build your business , Look forward to a very bright future
You are amazing!! Great video. Keep sharing positive ways to deal with negative people. I always want to make sure my team knows how much I appreciate them.
Ok so first you say "don't try to manage them" then you lastly say help them to find a happier place" ??!!! Sometimes helping a negative person at work is work overload...
From an entrepreneur perspective, how do you know when it is time to throw in the towel? When you feel you have lost your enthusiasm? When you get a pit in your stomach about doing the work you are in business to do? If you close shop does that mean you failed? (I'm a broker and I am feeling all of these. I am to align myself with a big box brokerage on 1/1/19.) If you can do a show on this it would be great. I suppose the topic is, when is it failure?
I clicked this video because I work for Amazon and I work with people that seem to talk about me in a negative way. It's very unsettling and makes it hard to focus on my job. I know I'm better than them. But I demand respect? I believe negative people are very toxic? And I need to be better in handling the situation.
The syncing period thing is a myth. *But* I do think people tend to average out in their work attitudes. Very challenging to run counter to an entire negative workplace... The "lifting them up" thing is a good idea, though. And "recognize their good behavior".
If it were only this easy. I don't allow negative people in my personal life, but I find myself encountering toxic people at my workplace quite often; the few positive people are the ones who make my job easier. What's worse is when negative people point fingers as if other people are the problem. They lack the capacity to look at themselves in the mirror.
It's hard if myboss pairs me up with the person who's abusing me. I want to talk to him and say to please pair me up with anyone else. But I'm concerned that it may make me look bad. Idk.
I work with a negative team member... and it is so draining!!! He has befriended the managers... and blocks growth. And gossips about other team members to throw the spotlight off of himself. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Oh God! Its like they drain out all of your energy. I usually just avoid them but what if I'm faced with such a psycho at my workplace? Great tips here but the thought still annoys the hell out of me. hahaa shitttttttt
So I got a business partner that we work together in my garage but the thing is that he drinks and smoke alot and I always try to avoid him because of that so I decide to work inside the house instead of being in the garage with him..am I wrong for being myself???
That's a good question. When you feel like you are the negative energy in your group, acknowledge it. Be open for change and Focus on the good things and Practice gratitude. Do some positive self talk and appreciate yourself, positivity should come from ourselves first to. 😊 #Believe - Feb
Practice Gratitude, be thankful for the little things life has to offer you and cut Off the Negative Sources That Feed You negativity. 😊 #Believe - Feb
It's not always an option to just cut negative people out. There are people in my business who are negative but they are still human and make mistakes. They need this job to survive and make money, just cutting them out is not an option.
I read the comments. It looks like there are a lot of negative people out there. DUH... Negative people deprive you of oxygen and have a force stronger than gravity to ground you. The only negative (oops) about your video is that numbers 1-5 should have been to get rid of the person. A professional ALWAYS considers team progress above all else. As for relatives, you can pick your friends, you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your relatives...(sorry)
How do you deal with someone who is negative and racist. I'm a mixed race so it's hard to work with a certain co worker who obviously doesn't like me for no reason.
I tried helping but It's not worthed I do agreed Some negative people can change by showing them kindness, love, caring, But the problem is how bad they want it Some negative people are making there life hell And they are unhappy with themselves because they don't love themselves And tryna make you feel what they went though Some people never learn It's noting but there fault You can't blame someone for you're own failure That's what narsisitic people are mentally disturbed
Lifting up negative coworkers at my job doesn’t help at all. They don’t change their ways at all lmao. I’m still being targeted for gossip and jealousy. I just want to keep my distance and do my job. I don’t even care if I get fired but one thing I won’t do is quit.
