Easiest: out of date banking papers etc. Hardest: photos of family. Am 70 & disabled. Have been decluttering 40-50yrs stuff, but have very little energy, so have had to give myself permission to continue after we've moved. Thnx for encouragement. Mx Mx

I've been packing for a move sometime in the next few months. When watching these videos I sometimes want to open boxes and go through the stuff again. I know there are things in there I'm not going to need or use in my new location. I think it's a FOMO/OCD/Virgo/perfectionist kind of thing. 😏 But I'm also learning to trust that I made good decisions in what I've already decluttered.

Thanks for sharing!! ❤️ I definitely relate!! This way you can move in and see how your space works and then simplify from there if you feel you need it. It is definitely important to gauge what energy you have and use it wisely! Good luck with your move!! 🥰

I am getting ready to buy a home so before I start with that process, I have taken the time for a few months now to start declutterring for my move at my own pace. First, I made a list of areas I wanted to tackle, so I started with my China cabinet. I kept only what I’m going to use the rest I took to Goodwill. Moved on to the kitchen, went through every cabinet and did the same. Then I took a closet and did that, not all in one day, this was done every weekend I would make it a point to do at least one thing. I’m still in the process because there are things that I am still using but will throw away at the end. However, when I start packing things in boxes, it will be a lot easier. Also, I wanted to be able to throw away in my garbage bins little by little. And I also paid a cleaning crew to come and clean & organize my garage, that helped a lot too as I was able to throw away stuff I did not need anymore. Bottom line, having a plan, making a list and start working on it little by little instead of waiting until the las minute and try to do everything at once, it’s giving me peace of mind, I am not stressed, and I know exactly what I’m taking. I hope this helps someone else.

I have been purging for a couple of months now, donated lots of stuff to upcoming sales, Goodwill, got rid of furniture that I no longer wanted, papers were shredded at a free shredding event, but its still hard. I think as I have gone through this process, I feel that I settled on buying things that I was never satisfied with and did not fit the purpose that I bought it for. So it was easy to get rid of it.

New subscriber here.I too am moving it's not going to be as much decluttering/ purging but one day it'll get to that. My goal is to be a minimalist one day. Video was very motivating and you both did a fabulous job.

I think just about everything is hard for me, because I over think everything. It makes the process slow and then I give up. I hope to get past that. I feel the burden of too much stuff.

Decluttering can definitely be emotionally and physically draining. It helps to make progress wherever you can with the least amount of emotion put into it. A great place to start is in your bathroom. Since products have an expiration, it takes the guess work out. If you haven’t used it and it is expired, it is time to let it go and let that be a lesson that certain products don’t work for you. The plus side to having a simplified bathroom and products, is that you stick to your favorites and it is a lot easier to stick to a routine and do self care!! Once you gain confidence there, you can go to your closet and find what fits and what is comfortable. You now have a simplified closet of clothes that you love. As time goes on you will gain more confidence and it will become a lot easier to let go of more. Plus, if you are unsure and feeling stuck, Declutter items your indecisive about and put those items into storage. After 1-6 months you can pull them out and make an easier decision to keep or declutter. Good luck on your journey to less!! Thank you so much for watching and commenting!! ❤️🥰

@@SimplifywithSarah Thanks so much for your advice, Sarah. I noticed that I start strong and then I start running into things I can’t make a decision on and then I get discouraged and give up and then months go by. I will give your advice a try. The box it up thing may help on some of those things that I can’t decide on. Usually, those are cool things that maybe I can sell, but get overwhelmed by that,as well. Also, I have ADD, so that doesn’t help, but I need to get it done, it is making me depressed and I am not able to do the things I want to do. Thanks again for the help, it’s so sweet of you! ❤️🙌🏼

Decision fatigue is definitely a road block and can be so hard to move past. Work with the easier items first and then if you start questioning yourself, ask yourself if that item disappeared, would you run out and buy that item again. if not, let it go. 🤗 Imagine a beautiful simplified space, it’s easy to clean, find things (especially with ADD, we tend to forget where we put things) and it is easy to keep it looking nice and put together. That goal and vision can help trump any reason to keep the item for someday. If you aren’t using the item, let it go and free up your space and mind. ❤️ It is so worth the results!! In regards to selling items. I have found I can get easily get overwhelmed as well. I have found that unless I can get $50 plus from the item, sometimes $20, it is not worth the stress. I have put out many items on my curb for free and it makes me smile to see the stuff disappear as I never have to worry about that item again!! I really don’t like selling and it is so nice to give myself permission to let that item go and bless someone else! 🤗 Also, if you do decide to sell an item, schedule a day that you have to sell the item by and then if it isn’t gone by then, either place it on the curb or donate it. You will be able to free up so much space. 💪❤️

Easiest things to declutter is kitchen items and makeup. Hardest to declutter is papers. They're everywhere. I try to stay on top of them but it feels like they multiply every night lol
@SimplifywithSarah
@SimplifywithSarah Год назад
Thank you so much for sharing!! Totally relate with the papers!! I have found the best way for me to stay on top of paperwork is to recycle/ shred a majority of them and then file the rest in the corresponding binder. I have one binder for all important paperwork. I also have one memory binder for each person in my household. It makes it so easy to find what I need when I need it!! Good luck!!❤️ Thanks for watching! 🥰

Hi you do good job.what are steps decluder from Katherine. Meid.
@SimplifywithSarah
@SimplifywithSarah Год назад
Thank you so much Katherine! ❤️ The steps to decluttering can vary from person to person depending on what motivates you, plus the energy and time they have to put in. The basic way that I like to go about it is 1. Set a goal around what you envision for your space. It can help you stay motivated. 2. Tackle your space. I have found that seeing progress is the thing that helps you reach your goal. Don’t try to do your whole house at once. Stick to a main living space, tackle it, and then as you reap the benefits of a simplified space, it will help you accomplish the rest of your space!! It can be super helpful to have a friend cheer you on and help keep you on track! ❤️

She did get more out! 💪 I have found that once you start decluttering and start seeing the results and the benefits that come from all of your hard work, it makes it a lot easier to let go of more as your vision becomes more clear of what you want your life to look like! 🤗
