How To Decorate Eggs For Easter 

Thought Mrs. Crocombe is going to teach us how to decorate our eggs...

I would love to hear more about Easter traditions in Victorian times. I know that Christmas was celebrated pretty similarly from watching Downtown Abbey...but they never had an ‚Easter Special‘ 😎

I tried it and I loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Use onion skins to colour eggs adeep orange- boil the skins up and add eggs to the infusion. When dried paint patterns round the shells with black felt tip pen. Simples but effective.

Mrs Crocombe needs to make an Easter bread or candy. She's not done candy before.

In Russian culture a similar technique is used to this day. We wrap them with string or attach herbs and boil them either with onion skins for a golden colour, or food colouring. Red, preferably. Sometimes we use plastic sleeves that shrink to the size and shape of the egg

Hard boiled? No! *Blow* the eggs - put a small pin-hole in the top, and one a little larger in the bottom, scramble the egg with the pin and blow into the smaller hole, cupping the egg gently but firmly. Once all the egg has left the shell, wash in warm, soapy water and dry thoroughly. It will keep *far* longer than a hard-boiled egg, and you can use the hole to hang it from a thread.

Does anyone remember ' jarping ' ? I'm not certain of the spelling but it seems right ! Thanks in anticipation.

I used to use a candle instead of a crayon for my eggs - this makes a bit more sense also I’m jewish so I’m not sure why we ever did this

Huh, why do we do this weird egg tradition?? Who had the idea of, “Hey. What if eggs were purple, and had candy inside of them?”

And it's not mentioned that all these traditions are taken from Pagan ways, Ostara specifically... modern religions stealing traditions yet again
