Haven't got to try this yet, because I've only done Von Flue from side control, but is there a way to increase your chances of putting your hand below the opponent's shoulder blade before they decide to fall backwards?

I've tried this. The problem is they don't magically open their guard. It works in open not in closed. This does not work in closed

Have you tried choking them unconscious with your shoulder?

@@hammer12482 All I can say is that it works well for me and my students. I can assure you that there's nothing magical about finding their carotid artery, nor is it overly optimistic to imagine actually hitting this in real time (I have many, many times over the last few decades), but the beautiful thing about jiu jitsu is that you can find your own set of techniques, and there's not really a "right" or "wrong" move for a given situation.

I heard the "silver fox " talk about this move ,it's basically a Von flu from in their closed guard . This move is legit GI and NoGi

I like this move how to defend the gillotine hold ground level escape .and it's also in timing with the song in the back ground. Come on baby rescue me ..lol 😆
