"It's not advised to defragment SSD drive" - that's good to know! Thank you :)

Good tip about using Defraggler. Never knew about that software. Was the only way to defrag my extra storage HDD.

Nice vid thanks will see if the tool is opensource.. I just bought a 10tb disk that I want to partition to act as several extra backup disks for my computers. Exfat is the only one that works on both Linux and windows. Ntfs is better because of journaling but to much of a hassle on Linux.. too bad you did not do an analyze of the sad would have bin curious if they are fragmented haha don’t think so

It takes several days to complete defragmentation of 5 TB drive with 12% fragmentation. Is there something unusual with my drive?

It usually takes hours to do the defragmentation but days are rare. I think your drive may have some bad sectors that you probably would like to check the health of the drive. I suggest to first make a copy of the data first.

Unbelievable that we need a new tool to do this, I am talking to you MS windows!

I remember using this a few years ago and it made the fragmentation worse! (on my NTFS P.S. the C drive where windows is) So I used the premium one from Norton and it fixed it right up after 3 cycles. However it does not work with exFat. Hopefully updates have improved this software because my drive is crashing windows explorer its so bad.

Did you also run a S.M.A.R.T. Test to see if there is any bad sectors on your drive? CrystalDiskInfo may also able to tell if the drive has other problems

@@3minutestutorial I decided to try it now and it said it's health is good but it still is slow. However my main game drive is in caution with 8 bad sectors. Any advice for the slow drive? I am not worried about the other drive even if it fails.

For the game drive that has bad sector, I guess it’s better to do a backup or clone to another healthy drive before it fails. For the other drives, defragmentation often solve slow drive problem. You may also wish to scan the drive using Bitdenfender (can be trial version) to see if there is any virus or potential undesired background programmes running that dragging the drive. Suppose they should work well if there are no bad sectors.

I also encounter slow drive before. I got an SSD and install on my old computer. It can reach the highest speed suppose the drive can provide. Later on I discover my SSD runs at SATA3 but the motherboard only support SATA2, which I have no way to reach SATA3 speed if using my original port. This maybe not directly related to your case but I hope my sharing can provide some ideas in solving your problem. 🙏🏼

Just a heads up. Do not defrag USB sticks and SD cards as it decreases their lifespan.
