I went to the store this morning and bought 3 bags of frozen peas and 3 bags of frozen corn. My dehydrator is working as I write this. Teddy is very cute. My dog loves to be in the kitchen when I am working, in case I drop something. Love our furry friends!

I love how easy dehydrating frozen peas is! And it's nice that dehydrated vegetables take up only about 1/3 of the space they did before. It's great to have some shelf stable vegetables on hand. After dehydrating, they rehydrate easily in soups and stews.

I've been dehydrating for 2 years now. I agree starting with frozen veggies makes the whole process so very easy. Good to see you continuing your videos. I'm sorry for your recent loss of your husband....I understand what you may be feeling...my husband passed the end of January this year. ❤🙏

Sincere condolences, Sew Girl. May you & your loved ones still find joy this festive season. I and one sibling never married, but I remember back in the 1980s after our grandmother passed, her photo seemed imbued with light at Christmas - we all saw it and remarked on it. Perhaps, keep your husband's photo in the midst of all action, and watch for his love and light. All the Best! ❤

Just did some frozen Lima beans , our grocery store had them a $1 a bag and our freezer is stuffed. I also have a magic mill. Dehydrating new to me, as is pressure canning. But so far so good. Lucy also loves peas as teddy. Always at my feet when fixing food. Looking for drops. Keep the videos coming.

I bought some already peeled garlic at Sam's, chopped them up and dehydrated them. I started them in the house and after about an hour I took the whole thing out on the porch. Man, they can stink up a house quick! Love how peas turn out.

@WishyWashy I’ve bought those peeled garlic cloves at Sam’s before. I chop them up, put in a glass jar, covered with olive oil and keep them in the fridge. They stay good forever and are always handy when I need garlic. The dehydrating is a great idea too but I don’t have one. My husband was worried about running one for hours on end due to the cost of electricity going up, along with everything else. I guess I could try it in the oven but that would be worse because it’s so big to heat up. I also watch Rain Country on RU-vid and she has several dehydrators but in colder weather, she uses her wood stove with racks her husband built. She is able to run them with solar in warmer weather. Check out her channel. I only watch a few, Granny’s being the main one. I’ve learned so much watching the few that I really like. 😊

I'm 65 and grew up with canned veggies and love them. My kids hate peas lol. I guess they got too many growing up. My dad grew up on a farm but as an adult he was a business man so no farming. I have a ton of dehydrated peas. Unfortunately they take longer to rehydrate than other dehydrated veggies. I also have my canned peas🤤😂

Thank you for your video. I started dehydrating Peas because the "wasted space" in my jars of dehydrated potato slices was driving me crazy. It's the little things eh? It works too because I can get two cups of dehydrated Peas in a quart jar that's already full of dehydrated potato slices. The next Potato I dry will be cubed. I put a lot more peas on a tray than you do that's for sure. I also blanch and dehydrate carrots and they too are spread pretty close together because they get so small as they dry. I have fit six pounds of dehydrated fresh carrots in a pint jar when they are finished drying. Oh yeah, I found the sheets of plastic "mesh" they sell in sewing shops for "hooking" yarn great for dehydrating. Affordable too. Good luck.

@gonefishing3644
@gonefishing3644 Год назад
I always let frozen veggies and fruit completely thaw on the dehydrator racks before I start the dehydrator. I was warned that some frozen foods, if not allowed to completely thaw, could become "case hardened" meaning dry on the outside but still remaining moist in the very center and then spoil when packaged in Mylar or vacuum sealed in jars. One of my favorite frozen foods to dehydrate is frozen, diced okra. This is good to have in storage if you want to make grid-down gumbo or jambalaya. You just cannot find #10 cans of dried okra for sale from food storage vendors. I also dehydrate canned pumpkin puree on the solid nonstick sheets so I can make pumpkin pie or pumpkin dessert bread.
