I really like this! Thanks for sharing. I have the palette saved for future inspo. I’m starting off as a beginner MUA so I have a few thinks I’m trying to work with but I see me using this setup as I get more established.
This is so clever and so very helpful! I've watched other videos where people melt them and it just seems so tedious and messy - I'll definitely do THIS! Thank you so much for sharing and posting!
Omg! :D I have always thought that I had to depot "the whole lipstick", and then I couldn't take just ONE lipstick with me. But this is so good! You get the lipstick in the bullet AND depotted! :D
@Irene Valencia I love how you had everything clean and neat. I was going to be doing this today!! However I originally purchased the MAC PRO Single Palette. Which isn't going to house ALL of my lipsticks so I just order the DUO. Can't wait to do this. Are the Inserts easily removed once the lipstick is set?
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it :D yeah i was originally going to just get the single one but I thought it would be better to put them in the DUO one! & yes you just remove the inserts the same way I showed in the beginning of the video :)
I a Just Ordered 2 Of These Mac Pro Lg Double Palette & 4 Of The 24 Well Inserts To Make a Lipstick Palettes 4 My MUA Kit & Im Happy That I Found Ur Video! Because I Wasn't Sure How The Lipsticks Were Going To Stay/Fit In The Wells W/Out melting The Actual lipsticks! But
Now That I Seen Ur Video! I Feel better about it! I Didn't Want To use the melting technique because I didn't want the lipsticks to burn and 2 compromise the actual colors! I'm really excited 2 make my palettes now! Thnx 4-This video!!! ;)
Madelijn van Beek the lipstick can change, especially with glittery/shimmery lipsticks the glitters can sink to the bottom. and ive had lipsticks go from super matte/last all day to more satin/last a few hours at best. also its messier and you can potentially waste a ton more product melting and transferring it (because you should never put the plastic from the palettes in the mircrowave)
For the lipsticks that are so creamy that you have less control can you put them in the fridge to stiffen them up to gain control. This is the best depotting video I have seen. Genius..
Hey! I just want to say this video is amazing. I almost bought a palette for $31. Thank God I found you. Your definitely sent from heaven. I just ordered the mac pro palette. Where can I order the thing to put in side of it for the lipstick?
So... what’s the point? When I depot I put into small individual pots that fit into a plastic box. They are bead containers from Fire Mountain. The ENTIRE lipstick goes 9n and I can grab one or two to take with me. The amount of space I saved is AMAZING!
Just wondering if this dries out some of the lipsticks? Or do you find they last just as long? Love the idea but it seems like they might get a bit stale :-\
I just subscribed to your videos. Just want you to know that women over 60 also want to hear what you have to say. I just turned 60 and don't want glitter in my lipstick. I liked when you said GLITTER WILL SINK TO THE BOTTOM.....if you want to appeal to everyone, you will get a wider audience. you may not even know anyone over 60 but if you do, ask them what they think....do they want glitter....probably not....just trying to help you get a wider audience. Love to you!
Marilyn Nichol Thank you for the subscription! I understand that you don't want glitter in your lipsticks, I don't really like them either. I just have them in my palette because its for my freelance makeup kit and some people do like the glitter look :) By melting the lipsticks it will not completely remove the glitter but it will be a lot different than it was in the tube :)
I know this video is a year old, but if you put the top half of the lipstick back onto the tube, when you try to use it wouldnt the force push it back down into the tube because you removed the bottom half of the product?
yeah I get that, but the way she did it, the purpose of cutting off the top of the lipstick and using the bottom part was to put the top part back on the lipstick to still be able to use it. I'm just wondering how that actually works...
***** WickedGoodReads I think she ment because the bottom of the lipstick is now empty, when you pop the top of the bullet back in and then go to use it (normally when you use a lipstick, you press pretty hard against your lips) it will fall down to the bottom and you won't be able to get it out? my suggestion might be pop something in the bottom! maybe squash up a cotton bud so its pretty dense and then put the top of the bullet in :) hope this helps girl! x
Cool. Thanks for this video and yeah, I don't like melting my lipsticks either, so this was great! Where can I find a spatula like the one you're using?
But how can I get the pallette if I'm not a "pro"? Last vid I watched they said it's only in the pro store...not that I understand y mac does this with certain things such as an empty pallete bc that be like if z pallete was like sorry but only "pros" can buy these
Why dont you just cut off part of the lipstick (not at the base, higher) and put that cut off piece it in the pallet? Would not that be easier and less messy then cutting it off, then diging the lipstik out, then put the "bullet" back in? Of course the tip will change the shape, but who cares, it'll do that anyway when you use it.
I didn't cut the top because I still wanted to use my own lipsticks for myself. The palette is for my kit and it's more sanitary when I'm doing makeup on clients :)
It saves space especially if your a makeup artist you can just grab your pallets instead of carrying each lipstick with you , imagine how many lipsticks you would carry and it looks more professional but a lot of people just like to depot things lol
I do this to put all of my lipsticks in one spot so that I don't have a bunch of tubes of lipstick in my kit. I'm a freelance makeup artist so this saves space and it's also easier to just see all of the colors at once! :)
