I like the fact that you were thorough cleaning it, took it outside and did the kid warning. I got a steamer from someone and all it does is drip, descaling and good cleaning has to make it steam again. Thanks. Good video!

Thank you so much for this video!! I have been wanting to do this with my steamer but have been worried about doing it wrong. but your steamer looks very similar to mine! Thank you for also mentioning the part about putting the steamer outside to do the vinegar part of the cycle! I would not have thought of that.

Actually yes, steaming the bathroom with white vinegar does make sense to me!Vinegar has anti-fungal and antibacterial properties, so it can be super effective for prevention of mold and mildew that grow in damp areas like the bathroom!

Just what I needed, I was wondering if I could clean the container with bleach because it grew green mold inside, plus I needed descaling instructions, so thanks!

Do you think half vinegar half distilled water would be better as far as smell? Also, what kind of steamer is that? That's soo much steam! Looks like it works amazing. Is your wife happy with it?

The brand is Steamfast, its an older brand not sure if they still make it. I am not sure about distilled water. I know they don't recommend using it in coffee maker because it lacks minerals and I think its bad for heating elements , not sure about that. It has normal steam, it was cold that day so it looks like a lot of steam.

@@JustADad my steamer recommends distilled water. I don’t drink coffee so no idea what goes on there. But I just cleaned mine with half distilled and half vinegar. I also unscrewed the bottom of mine and found a small little reservoir that was half full of black and white specs. The problem with my steamer was that the water light would come on even though I had water in the tank. Once I cleaned the little reservoir out it’s good as new! Thank you for your video! It gave me the courage to tackle mine!!

How often is it recommended to clean it?
@JustADad
@JustADad 2 года назад
Depends if you use it everyday, then I would descale mine every 6 months. more often if you have hard water.

never understood the math of selling gallon of vinegar at 5%, the shipping cost is just transporing 95% water around.

Empty and rinse the drain reservoir before the steamer gets hot. Unless you don’t mind burning a couple of fingers off 😮

I did this. Now everything permanently smells like vinegar. Very annoying. Ran the reservoir through it four times and it still smells. Any tips?
@JustADad
@JustADad 2 года назад
keep running water through it, depending on how much mineral buildup is on the inside you might have to descale it again.

Because THAT IS NOT how u should clean the steamer. All u have to do is put vinegar and water in THE BASE, swirl it around and pour it. Then repeat until there is no more mineral deposits, or u til water is clear. Then run fill container w water and use ur steamer. No vinegar smell.

I've searched for tips on how to use clothes steamers and one important tip is to use distilled water to prevent scaling and deposits. Tbh, I don't want to spend more money on distilled water but I also don't want to clean water deposits 😖
