Incredibly useful and informative post. Thank you. I learnt quite a bit about the flexibility of the dynamic content, which I haven't used a great deal... up until now. Well done, Mak.
you know, i really appreciate that you guys offer this stuff up but these are absolutely some of the MOST frustrating videos regarding Divi. I am trying to solve a simple problem (for example). I know how to set colors for backgrounds, choose fonts and all the other appearance settings. I simply want to know how to do custom layout with blog (or custom) posts. Instead 40% of the time in this video is spent showing me features I've seen in every other video done by this gentleman. Just get to the point. Not every video needs to convey the depth of the Divi interface! Show me what we're going to do. Show how to do it and review it once more. The stylistic stuff can appear in other videos.
This guy is brilliant. He's the reason I got into Divi. Every time you're stuck just come here and search - boom he's already got a video! So creative, lots of stuff I would do with graphics and code he does in Divi in half the time.
Hi, I have a problem. I am trying to create a post template but my texts have not h1, h2 etc because they are news. How can I do it? Because I can't apply the template for this reason.
Thanks for this video. Built along with you - but then, having made a few errors, imported the template. Whn I create a new post - using divi visual builder - not clear but should the bull body template appear - with each of the headings set out? Or am I to create a new section and create the post within this? Tried this - but then don't inherit the styles (font etc) from the template. Obviously going wrong somewhere.
Hi! This was a fantastic tutorial. Thanks so much. BUT when I click on my blog posts it says "No Results Found" - "The page you requested could not be found. Try refining your search, or use the navigation above to local the post". Do you have any idea what's happening here?
<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="1338">22:18</a> “design is working really well”... that divider is over the top of the image. You need to change the z index of the image so that it is above. Other than that it was a really good tutorial and I’m ready to build my own.
Thank you. Now that I have the template, how exactly do I make a new/first blog post? Should I make them in the classic wordpress editor or use the Divi builder? UPDATE: Sorry, I should've checked out this video first: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ma9lam2SEoY.html Thank you for these videos. They're very helpful.
Simply excellent. I have a question regarding post templates, WordPress and DiVi. I have sen that you create the template to "All Posts" and when publishing the posts use the build-in Guttenberg editor, right? Is that the recommended workflow for creating posts, or there's another way? I am completely new working with WordPress and DiVi and I have found difficult to use them. In the beginning, I was creating the post inside DiVi and I am just realised that was a mistake that create a lot of code and design issues. Please if you can comment what is the best workflow for posting on my WordPress site and use DiVi that will be much appareciated.
I did the same thing! And I'm currently stuck. I've contacted Elegant Themes, but I still don't understand how to use the template I created. (I love the template, though.)
Really, really good video, as always. Would it be possible for you to slow down a bit in future videos? Thanks! P.S. I slowed down the speed to .75. Works for me (smile).
July 2024 - This is still a very valid video. Some things changed, but it was pretty easy to figure it out. Thank you!!!!! I do have a question! How do I get the top header divider to not go across my picture? I'd like my picture to be "in the front". Thank you!
Hi Mak! I was wondering if there is any other way to edit the block quote aside from what you can do in the Post Conten Module. I want to delete the vertical border at the left of the block quote but cannot seem to find a way. Thanks in advance.
Just what I was looking for! One question please. Once you have created a custom template, how do you actually use/apply it to a new blog? When choosing "use an existing layout" and the new custom body layout, it seems to duplicate the content on top of each other.
@@jenncar100 I still haven't sussed it out. I just create a blank page/blog and manually add modules. Makes it difficult to set a constant theme/template.
TOTALLY AGREE with you, I have been going in circles for hours today, watching video after video. YES, we know how to do each of these pieces but how do we actually USE it???
hey many thanks for the tutorial! Unfortunately on my blog pages i keep getting weird characters instead of punctuation. Any idea? Ex. instead of ' (an apostrophe) I get "â"
But when did you add the menu? I've designed a blog post template using this tutorial, but my menu did not show up on the blog post pages. I contacted customer support at Elegant and have been told to add the menu. BUT, when I add the menu, I can't get the menu to look like the rest of my website. In this tutorial, it doesn't say anything about adding the menu. So... how do I get the menu that's on the rest of the website to show up on my blog post template built with the Theme Builder? I'm on my second time telling Elegant about this and asking for help and this is the second time I've been told that I have to add the menu to the Theme Builder, although this tutorial does not show that a menu has to be added. It shows as if the menu is already there. What's up with the menu? Did this tutorial leave out the step where I have to add the menu?
Excellent, excellent tutorial here. You've showed a lot of important and powerful principles here with regard to the potential of Divi's Theme Builder. This cuts my work and development time in about half and helps me to give my clients a better end-product, no kidding!
This is great. One question... Is there a way? (how) to create a post content template? I want to build some form of checklist into a post content template to make sure certain elements are included by the author; e.g. intro that includes XYZ, Table of contents, X internal links, X external links, a CTA, a conclusion etc.
Hi Mak, I just can't get over how INCREDIBLY HELPFUL and WONDERFUL all your Divi tutorials are. I'm a voice actor and I'm in the process of re-designing my website (from boring ol' Wordpress 2017 theme!), to a brand new site... thanks to you! Your tutorials and teaching style are amazing, as is the diverse array of RU-vid lessons for everything we need. Just writing this comment to say Thank You So Much! :-) :-) You are awesome!
I am following this process. However, instead of featured image, each blog post, in a category (called AE Show), will have its own unique video for watching and audio for listening. BUT everytime I update a video with a new image poster, it changes the container in ALL posts in the AE Show Category. HELP. How do I add content in the template that is unique for each blog post?
Absolutely nice, thanks for sharing. I'm facing a problem when I want to create a new POST, and cannot add the Post Content Module to my Post, can you create a new post a please show us how you create a new and fresh POST? THANKS YOU
Hi, thank you. Great video to learn how to create the template. BUT, (a big but), the template works great for existing posts but once it's created, HOW can I use it for new posts? Where do I write the content etc? Because it uses dynamic data it uses already existing data. I don't understand how to create new posts. Best regards
I have the same common problem. I've set a global body for all posts, as described in this video. However, whenever I edit the blog post (WP Admin > Posts > Edit with Divi) I actually edit the layout itself, not the content. The end result is that all my blog posts look the same, because I can't change the content, only the layout (template) itself. What am I doing wrong? Where is the correct place to change the content without changing the global template for a single blog post?
I am very late to this party but am very gratefull for this easy to apply blog template tutorial. I did evrything you shown and in my theme builder everything looks perfect, however when I start to create a blog post after saving everything in the builder, I see all the frame work as build but the actual blog text part (Header 1 + body, header 2 + body image, quote etc.) does not show in the blog item. What am I doing wrong or not seeing. When I create a new blogpost I add an image and a title and then hit build with divi, it then gives me 3 options: overwrite existing, choose layout or clone exsisting page. So here I already do not know which to pick and in the mean time I already tried all three and I do not see the "post content part". Help a girl out :-)
Thank you! I love your teachingstyle! Not too much rambling about nonsense but enough for a non-web person to follow. I do have a question.... My image doesn´t appear in the imagebox.... Do you have to set the image size to a certain size before you upload?
I followed this tutorial and it worked on my laptop but when i view the website from a mobile the "sidebar" with comments counter, category, author and date gets jammed in the post body. The same happens at the bottom with the articles navigation. Did anybody experienced the same and maybe can help. Great tutorial otherwise!
Struggling quite some time now on the 'dynamic content'. In what way is it possible to override the image settings on width and height? Is it possible to show them as <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="969">16:9</a> image, even if the normal ratio of the uploaded image is <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="243">4:3</a>.
This great Mak, but please explain more why you need something like e.g. Catagories or Author, or if you do not need it all. And by not using those will it change the design. And where is it found on the website navigation for visitors, is there a blog page to add?
<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="587">9:47</a>-<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="594">9:54</a> In this timeframe, you talk about the size of a profile picture. But you only show it half and I by no means catch how to resize this one.
I set up the blog post page just like I wanted it but when I assign the page as the posts page it gets set back to a default template. When I try to change the post page to something besides the default template, a message comes up, "The posts page template cannot be changed." Where do I find this default template setting and change it?
Great video, but I don't understand why people just place a blog module and then don't tell anyone why they are flush and even, which is never the case for me, I have to change the code to make the blog posts flush.
As a newbie, I have a hard time keeping up. He talks too fast! It would be helpful if he copied some actual text to insert in his videos rather than Lorem Ipsum.
Make templates I already know. My problem is that I do not know how to publish the following posts and that they use the template. Every time I write a post, the options to create a page appear.
in the end at <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="1340">22:20</a> you say its working well. but the header overlay is shining through the post picture, actually i have the same error, any change to fix this?
I noticed this as well. It raised an eyebrow for me after such an excellent video, that issue was glossed over in the hope we wouldn't notice. Thankfully, an easy fix. Edit the Z-Index of the section containing the header (found in Section Settings, Advanced, Position) and set it to a negative value. This will drop it behind the image. Its a bit messy doing it this way, but it works.
When I'm trying to build custom body in theme builder the icon keeps processing forever and nothing happens <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="61">1:01</a>
<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="899">14:59</a> Is there a way we can set the post navigation to truncate posts titles to a specific number of characters?
Mak, I have been watching your awesome How To Divi videos over and over again. Thank you. This video is unfinished for me. I want to replace my existing WordPress side bar with a Divi Sidebar but the 2-column format confuses me. Two ways to ask this: 1) How do I bring my blog articles into the left column? or 2) Is there a way to replace my WP side bar with the Divi sidebar? I know this video is over a year old but can you help me? Respectfully, Mark
Thank you for creating this video. It's been incredibly insightful in understanding how Divi functions overall. Additionally, it enabled me to design a blog template that seamlessly integrates with the style of my entire website. The dynamic content feature is impressively useful, and it sparks my curiosity about other creative applications it might have.
I'm finding this DIVI tutorial so helpful (same with all your tutorials). Re the image you placed in the background here, what is the size and type. I suspect a PNG. Knowing the size will be helpful. Thank you!
This is awesome, so easy to follow and just wonderful. I have a quick question though, how come it's not showing up when i view my post??? :( I just have one right now as I'm just beginning out, but yeah, lmk ! I've saved it and everything. could there be something else going on?
really thankful for these videos! I am learning so much! Although you go through them way to fast for beginners I am happy to be able to pause it every two seconds and follow along on my site builder :)
Thank you for this awesome tutorial. I was able to create one successfully but my Social Warfare share buttons are not showing up on any of my blog posts. When I disable the theme builder template I created, the share buttons show up just fine. How do I fix this please? Thank you.
Thank you very much. That is very detailed and I will follow step by step. One question though for anyone really. How do we then add a new post? I am just starting out
I love your tutorials. I never knew we could use vw in divi instead of pixels! I also have been wanting to change the blog post style without going into each post and changing it. I guess that's why the new theme builder is tha bomb! I don't really like the way the divider shows through the featured image. How do you change that? OR can you?
I believe this would typically happen with the Divider Arrangement setting. Section Settings - Design tab - Divider - Divider Arrangement dropdown - select Underneath Section Content. This should fix it.
I spotted that, too. I don't know if that's a fluke, but setting the z-index on the featured image at a higher number than the post title section could fix it. I think if it's all in the same section, you'd have to apply it to the image via CSS in the Advanced tab.
Could you explain HOW to include the website's main menu at top? As is, it is not there, so once anyone lands on the individual post, they hit a dead end! Thank you! Your tutorial was excellent - soooo detailed.
Is this guy late for a train or what? His speed of delivery is entirely inappropriate. Why not do us all a favor and put in an index to the topic areas at the very least? Instead we have to watch multiple times and pause at each section. It's unpleasant.
there is a glitch when we go to edit this template to change colors. when i try to change color by editing template, the custom color box where we enter the hex# or RGB value is missing or does not pop up. the default colors of template can't be changed or edited using custom colors? please help
Is there way to have the 'Post Content Module' style settings carry over to the 'Blog Module' when inserting into a page? The post stylings seem come through on post pages but not in the blog modules.
You are a GREAT teacher, keep things brief, and are one of my favorite RU-vid tutorial instructors-appreciate you very much! Keep up the good work and God bless!
I'm applying the same idea on pages. But the problem is, I'm trying to edit the title on each pages, but it always taking the page name as title and it can't be modified.
Hello! Your content is great, I have applied it but the Post content template is too small for my posts, is there a way to enlarge the space for the text?
Hi Helen! 👋 If your website looks different in the Visual Builder and on the actual website, it means that there is a conflict caused by a code or a plugin conflict. Please, create a ticket with the Support Team for further investigation: www.elegantthemes.com/members-area/
I DOWNLOADED THE FILE AND THE IMPORT IS NOT WORKING!!!!! It just says "This file should not be implemented in this context". Neither the divi library, nor individual page import. So????
I love your tutorial. Saved me a lot of time. One quick question In the comment section, the backend shows comment, name, email but on the front end it only shows comment. How do I fix this
