We're sorry to hear about any confusion on the ABC switch setting. Not all of our fences will have this setting. This switch will always be set depending on how much wire you have used with your layout. Smaller layouts with 1300ft or less will be on setting B. Medium layouts will use setting C for 1300ft-2400ft. The larger layouts of 2400ft+ will use setting A. Feel free to give our Customer Care Team a call at 1-800-732-2677 with any questions.

Thank you for reaching out to us. You may find it helpful to know that the wire does not need to be buried in order to work and can be installed above ground. However, this does leave the wire exposed and more susceptible to breaks. Thank you for asking about this, Fran! Were the electricty to go out, the system would have no power, and so the collar would not be able to activate at the boundary. Some customers who live in areas with frequent power outages may choose to use a backup battery to help prevent this.

Thank you for this question, Bert. Most customers will choose to differentiate these desired behaviors by verbal command. For example, if you just want your dog to take care of business, you can teach him the command "potty". For other outings in the yard, you can teach commands for "walk" or "play". Should you need assistance with learning how to best approach basic command training with your pet, we recommend to consult with a professional trainer.
