For the warped gradient, another technique I would use is to keep the text as is (no warp), apply the gradient, then duplicate and rasterize the text, warp it using the same transform effect you used, and then apply the rest of the layer style (drop shadows, etc). That way you can get the same warped gradient

You could definitely do that! Although (if I'm reading what you're saying correctly), then you wouldn't have the flexibility to change colors later on, unless you wanted to use the Hue/Saturation tool. Great comment!

Fuller Moehagen Yes- getting the shirts physically printed?. So for instance if I was to design my own image using photoshop - would I have to print it off and then use transfer paper to get the image onto a t shirt or sweater? Just not sure whether it will ruin in the wash 😊

I would recommend contacting a local screen printer if you’d like to print your own designs. I suppose you could do an iron on transfer at home or something but the design would have to be pretty small. Best results will come from screen printing or DTG printing though. Either way, you would need an expensive machine to do that yourself. Hope this helps!

what kind of filter/effect do they use on the actual artist pictures on rap tees? most of them look to have a yellowish saturated look to them

I mean on OG rap tees, there's no filter - they're just old t-shirts that have been faded and worn. The printing process itself makes a huge difference too. A lot can happen between going from your CPU monitor to a t-shirt.

@@FULLERMOE The OG shits from when I was a kid, just looked like that from the printer trying to save ink. Realism wasnt exactly what they were looking for back then. Instead it was just getting them shist on the street as fast as possible to capitalize off of hype, it just became an aesthetic thru that.

There are other programs for design, yes. But I can't really speak to those, since I don't have any experience with them. I really can't imagine they would be better than Photoshop though 💯💪

Edit > Define Pattern is what you use to make patterns and then you apply them in Layer Styles under Pattern Overlay (so double click the layer of the graphic you want to apply the pattern to and in the window that pops up, you'll see Pattern Overlay on the left side).

If they're old fonts, I'll generally just do a Google search and FontsInUse is a great resource for anything vintage or retro.

They can absolutely be printed. It's gonna cost a bit more, because they'll need to do CMYK processing but it's worth it. As long as the files are formatted correctly, you'll be fine.

@@justinoleary5793 Pretty much the only time DTG comes into play is when it's print on demand type shit. But anything that's authentic and vintage is screen printed.
