Hey friends! In this video I show you some techniques for designing sounds specifically for use with MPE capable controllers. :)

Hey, my name's Matt, AKA Martiln, and I'm an electronic music producer, educator and Ableton Certified Trainer from Australia. I love making music and crazy sounds, and I love helping other people learn how to do both of those things too! I also am the creator of a crazy sci-fantasy world and musical storytelling universe called REALMS. If you like what I do, you can support me in all the usual ways or by shouting me a coffee over on my Buy Me A Coffee page.
Much love! 🥰

awesome content🥰 do you have an intelligent way of volume ducking to a kick that does no clicks and pops? i saw you using duck buddy but is there also other methodes or how do you use duckbuddy as clean ad possible? 😊

One method is to have a muted hihat acting as the sidechain trigger. So the hihat won’t be audible to the listener, but only to the compressor. And obviously it doesn’t need to be a hihat, but you normally want a short sound with a very distinct attack, so a closed hihat is what I typically use.

I've definitely found Duck Buddy to be the best side chain option! To make it smooth I often use the lookahead, ramp and smooth settings in combination at small values and listen until I don't hear a click anymore. The method that PeranMe mentioned is also really good!
