Pretty straight forward, in this video, I will be destroying an ESEE 3, just to prove that the Dutch Bushcraft kids don't know what they are talking about!

Hey mate, Thanks a lot for the video and shoutout! Great stuff! Esee makes their knives pretty tough by lowering the hardness. This does compromise edge retention but prevents the knife from breaking. Jealous of all the snow there!

Hultafors heavy duty destruction test? I aint forgot lads !

You're welcome, yeah I love watching you guys! Thank you! Yeah I definitely noticed that, it would ben pretty easy, though you do bring up a good point with the fact that the edge retention will drop. Haha I like the snow too, but it does come with a chilly temperature!

Only thing that ever ruined the tip of my esee 3 or izula was using them as screwdrivers\prybars. Ironically they worked better as a screwdriver once the tip was broke off.

Good stuff, I like that you bent the tip back afterwards rather then completely snapping it off or attempting to send it back bent for a Esee replacement. I was impressed by the Esee 3s performance here, dont see to many destruction tests on the 3... most just exclaim that it's not gonna be as durable as the other models due to its thinner profile, so it was nice to see the type of abuse it can actually take. Esee will for ever be one of my favorite knife brands... it never gets old batoning the crap out of my Esee 4.

Last winter I was squril hunting and my truck broke down. I had my survival kit good and ready to go. I was stuck for 2 days I didn't have phone service where I was. My ESEE-3 helped me make fire and skin the squrils I ate. And I made a lean to shelter. My dad was right when he told me if you loose your knife in a survival situation you could loose your life as well.

And yes. They did steal my name and just added Knives to it. I asked them not to and find another name that is not already in use. Right when they began. They refused being the spoiled brats they are. They could not survive a week in any bush without their mother. So even in the name they are not original. And being called Dutch Bushcraft Knives you would think it's about bushcraft knives being made in Holland, but it's not. There are bushcraft knives being made in Holland. They just don't review them and probably the makers don't want to be associated with these clowns.

The Morra Robust and the Hultafors GK are able to take this abuse even better and cheaper (I know they have a thiker tip). The test was ok (not a destruction test, but I do not like to destroy my knifes to). If you would brake it and send it back to ESSE you would get a new one, or am I wrong?
@AlaskanFrontier1
@AlaskanFrontier1 7 лет назад
Yes, they would have replaced it, but I only did the tests, DBK did to break the CIMA.

You gotta watch Joe x… that man can take a knife to its limits… he proved that a lot of high end knives are trash. They boast high end steel and break within the first few minutes. The elmax DBK knife fared well with him, but survivor Lilly’s knife was the best, with aus8 steel!

Fun to watch ; ) I really like Dutch Bushcraft Knifes to. Subbed in their beginnings and watch all their videos from then on. They use an oak bord for the tiptest.

So you like the DBK channel but you think they failed to compare to a real Esee 3. I agree. That's what's wrong. They did not compare. Neither did you. You did not test the Esee 3. You just put the tip in the wood and stand on it and it snapped out. You can do that with a butter knife. Put it in halfway the blade and stand on it and it will snap. Of course the real Esee 3 is better than the Chinese version even if we only talk about warranty but the Esee 3 is probably 3 times more expensive than the clone. DBK compares this clone to a Mora. They could compare the real Esee 3 to a Mora. And their beloved Bark Rivers. Mora or Hultafors will always win. But DBK gets sponsored and that means they get paid. There is no real testing going on. It's a sales story from beginning to end.

I used to enjoy DBK videos but they have gotten so silly I can't take them seriously any more. Any knife can be broken, and I cringe at the old "tip test". Only a fool will treat their knife in this manner in real life.

Say Heah, They say the best knife is the knife you have in you at the moment. Also Bushcraft vs. Survival knife . We'll I cover my bases, I carry a multi carry. I Piggybacked my Rodent 7 with my Rodent 3 which is like using the best part of a knife for my fine task's. But most of all, I like the SR101 Steel. Which is a deferentially tempered by the Busse Technology tempering, Seriously, I will put my Rodent 3 up against any 3" blade. My Rodent 3 is almost bomb proof, a LiL'Tank. seriously.,,.

wow! I can honestly say that this is the first knife review where the word awesome can be properly applied. not only didn't it snap the tip but I can see by the background, and your breathe, how cold it was. lots of fails of knives on RU-vid that the cold seems to be a major factor. I was sold on Esee before, however, I am definitely confident it's a one knife option if need be.
@AlaskanFrontier1
@AlaskanFrontier1 7 лет назад
Thank you! I am glad you say that. You're right it was definitely below freezing in this video. I am a lot like you, I was already sold on ESEE, but after I did this, I gained a whole new trust to these tools.

ESEE makes the best all around bush /survival knives IMO ! Their warranty is outstanding as well as Rowans heat treatment ! ESEE is the best bang for your buck for a full tang knife .I own most of the ESEE knives and enjoy using them all ! Thanks for the review and tip test , the ESEE 3 is one of my favorites 👍🏻🇺🇸✌🏻️

Brandon A. I don't know if I'd go that far. But they do make a top notch knife, and I agree Rowan knows how to heat treat these blades!

maybe the steel in your knife is a better quality steel then the one they used
@AlaskanFrontier1
@AlaskanFrontier1 7 лет назад
Oh, it is, but the important factor here is the heat treat, this one is not as brittle, that's how it was able to bend.
