​@skillfullyyoursmaris4425 do you think a zip tie through the zipper loop to the steel cable wrapped around the handle would work? Asking because for international travel, tsa locks get cut off if they need to open the bag. Tsa locks are only for domestic us travel so it would be easier for authorities to cut a zip tie and not damage the lock or bag

Customs do not open all baggage unless they find something suspicious when your baggage goes through the scanner. You will need to use tsa approved locks.

@@skillfullyyoursmaris4425 I used TSA-approved locks the last time I went to the US - bought new ones, quite expensive - and they cut them off. There's wasn't anything suspicious in my baggage, either. 🤷

That’s so inconvenient! We travel a lot and we just use a good luggage and a TSA approval lock. We only use a cloth luggage material for a carry on bag.

Yes, but if when you pick up your luggage at the airport and the zipper is open because they cannot unzip by putting the cable you can right away report the theft while you are still at the airport.

You're not understanding what this prevents. The thief is an employee. The only way for the thief to get away is to zip it back shut. What this does is prevent the thief employee from zipping it back up which would then expose the damage left and becomes evidence. A thief who knows they won't be able to zip it back would simply avoid the luggage.
