The hardest part about writing for me is selecting an idea to focus on. I know that a lot of people like to talk about writer’s block, but I often have the problem of having too many ideas. Regardless of which idea I choose, I’ll probably get a better idea halfway through writing a story, but if I keep abandoning and restarting projects, I’ll never finish anything.

I would try copying whatever documents you already have, and then force yourself to fill in the blanks between what you were inspired to write. Just keep putting words down no matter how mediocre or cliche they are, give it a rest for a few days, and come back to give it another edit and see how you feel. I always find it better to crap out something pretty mediocre that I can study and refine through edits and peer feedback, then allow myself to jump to another story that I find more interesting. If your initial ideas were good, what you’ll have after just one rewrite has a pretty low chance of being downright bad.

Good point. All great stories are explorations into the human condition. If you know what themes you're trying to explore it should help drive you down the right path and have you finishing your script on the best note. But only one of those hypothetical endings were any good because they didn't challenge any of the notions that people struggle with. Aristotle figured it out millennias ago. Every story needs to have *pity* *fear* then *catharsis* Make sure the story you're telling is so relatable to people's own lives that you get them so invested in your character fixing their problem they almost feel like it would be the answer to their own life's challenges.

People defending thier country threatening to launch a.i. programed to destroy earth if they aren't left in peace. After 200 years.. idk Largest modern battle combat scenes. Race of fast battleships at the end. They defend the control center while launching. Enemy pursues into space. A.i. core gaining momentum and fighting both teams. Only as plot developes over 3 films. Stargate style HBO ring of fire dramatic special. Clean dad jokes, dry humor, no foul language of any kind. Story focus.. character development. Nukes don't work due to the technology that cleans up radiation is so effective amd they harm launching country. Bots cleaning. Epic music score like battlefield 1 with some synthwave maybe.. over lotr ambiance. Instead of constant story progression there's moments of relaxing and enjoying scenery.. intermission for restroom. Have character walk off screen. RU-vid community would have a hay day with sleep videos. The ships racing through space launching all missles they have. Desperate fight with each ship falling to pieces amd more showing up.. viewer experiencing the fatigue of the battle. A.i. growing stronger collecting ship debree from battle. Characters you like the most don't make.. not because plot but from the situation. Epic tank land battles. Infantry and helicopters. Super class battleships bombarding landing areas amd while infantry runs forward. Like ww1 rush only it's no not going forward. Talk to battlefield 4 community for help planning insane scenes.. Arma and squad guys have see some wild stuff.. Close up of battleships, over the top land invasions. Jets that fly to low..scene cut short by a tank flying over a small hedge on a hill firing cannon.. followed by other tanks. Smoke.. lots of smoke, huge forest fire.. I'm out of ideas. Late into series maybe extratersials but not scary looking or humans. Like startrek on a humanitarian mission.. like that show and other. You have to put references in to the stuff that inspired it all. G8ve credit to where the credit is due. Tropes in there but more casually as joke.. like tv on in background of diffrent show. Start the film with that show on to confuse audience. Wholesome. No united earth but sovereign nations working for the better intrests.. like these days. Complicated politics viewer know happen but not making a 30 minute episode of just talk. Music montage over meeting in places.. treaties promises broken. Dark space age collapse of earth late story.. integaltic fight against machine a.i. Serious film.. overall. Show war for what is is. Not ultimate John wick destruction but internal struggle of people who go through it. War attrition. Reddit histyoy members could write an interesting story. With wholesome crap poster to.

Right. It's not about idea . It's about the EXECUTION on the idea . Many ideas are alike , but the execution is what makes it great .

Very good tips. Its hard for me to find good ideas for a film. To start with a character and three words sound much more easy. Thanks!

I like second idea. Why negative ending, why not a road movie with them two (or at least one) visiting her daughter. During the ride you can develop both characters, their history, cause robbing and mam/daughter separation seems interesting.

Here’s my idea for a movie that I probably shouldn’t say or else someone reading this comment will steal it but I’m gonna explain it anyway. It’s about a guy who is lying down on his bed typing a RU-vid comment on his phone to explain the premise of the movie he’s in.

John 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Hell is not meant for Humans but for the devil and his demons however we cannot go to heaven without being righteous .. we also cannot be perfect or righteous on our own hence Jesus came down from heaven to live the perfect life and die on the cross and bear the sins of all of us die and resurrect on the 3rd day All we have to do is believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins acknowledge him as our Lord and savior and be saved.. for more information on this see this channel ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oxg9nOjUhZc.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wAgzYmyqjg8.html Pray

Im not sure I agree with the hat-pick for an ending. As a writer, your ending should motivate you so if you must have an ending at the start, let it be one that satisfies your soul.
@DoctorCyan

I think it’s best to start with a great ending, too, but if you love an idea you didn’t find an ending for, the hat trick would force you to come up with something inspired

homie absolutely abandoned the initial premise but my noggin is working on it so first of all I think we need to establish how this ends. does she spy for the boss all the way to the bitter end? or does she turn on him and help the workers? if she never turns on him, why? is she just a selfish person, or does she desperately need the money for something? what is that something? what if she needs the money desperately, but still turns on him? do the workers help her achieve her goal somehow? does the boss make her goal impossible before he goes down, just to spite her? how involved does she get with the workers? is she always a spy, but still falls in love with one of them? is achieving her goal still satisfying after sacrificing so much of herself?

I have a hard hitting comedy idea. The entire comedy takes place in Cell Block D full of hard pipe hitting thugs and it is a musical based around the other musical THE SOUND OF MUSIC but it is a thug version. Pure comedy gold

Seriously, hear me out on this one.. There needs to be an army romance movie about a girl that goes into the army at 18 and meets 2 guys that she becomes best friends with that are in her unit (and they always have the same missions together) and over the next 3 years she falls in love with one of her two best friends and he of course loves her back but they don't tell each other or anyone else. Then on a mission in Afghanistan or Iraq the girl that is now 21 gets separated from the group and captured and gets beaten up a little bit by the bad guys and then obviously gets saved while she's unconscious. When she wakes up she's in the hospital back on the army base and her two boy best friends are there and they talk, then 2 days later once she gets out of the hospital, her and her boy best friend that she likes see each other while she's on her way to talk to the general (about literally anything) and then they kiss. Like honestly, doesn't that seem like a good movie?!
