Great video. One important thing you missed. Make sure you put an RV water pressure regulator on the city hose hook up before attaching it to the RV. Nobody wants to blow apart the hot and cold water lines inside the walls of their RV.

Here it is March 2020, some 4 years after you made this very informative video, and it still holds as a great tool to use to de-winterize your RV Trailer. My Sweetheart and I are newbies and this is the very first time for us to de-winterize our trailer and we really appreciate the great work you did in making this video. Very good video. Another way to release the pressure in the water heater is to open the relief valve. This will also drain the water heater faster when the anode rod is removed.
That was perfect. Straight forward info no long stories to go with it, just the facts. A lot of these RU-vidrs like to give long stories with every move they make while flailing their hands all around and not getting to the point. You have to bypass the first 5 minutes or so of all the videos to get past the ‘please subscribe crap’. You did great job, got the info I needed. Most appreciate!
Great video! I use a cleaned-out wine bottle to add 2 cups of chlorine to sanitize the system. It has a longer neck and easier to fill the tank. They are always on hand!

Thanks for such a well done and easy to understand video. You have been more helpful than anything I've read or seen after 8 years of travel trailer ownership.
A few suggestions for your good video-> 1) Make sure your hot water tank is in bypass mode first, then check that all faucets are closed. 2) Fill fresh water holding tank with your water/bleach mix and shut off the water. 3) Connect garden hose to CITY WATER inlet but leave water off for now. 4) Turn water pump on and open the closest fixture to the water pump. Let run for 2-3 minutes. (This clears all anti freeze from the pump and screen.) Turn off water pump. 5) Turn on garden hose and complete flush of all lines with the high pressure city water. 6) Turn off hose. Open all LOW POINT drains and turn the hose back on for a few minutes. Now you're completely flushed! 7) Close all FAUCETS & LOW POINT drains. 8) Turn Hot water tank bypass off. 9) Turn on water pump and go to each fixture and run water until you smell bleach. 10) Top off fresh tank and leave it sit over night. Hope this helps. Good job for not being a Technician also!
Very good that you found the small leak, new units are not immune to problems as some mfg barely test them and leave it to the dealer to do the testing. Even a small leak can turn into a huge problem and a lot of damage over time!
Great video with detail where needed. First time De-winterizer... Took me a little bit but it all worked out. Wouldn't have done it as efficient or to this level if I hadn't watched this, so thank you.

Great video. I’m new into RV and I bought my rv and it was winterized. I made some mistakes while cleaning which I haven’t finish de-winterizing after watching video. By the way. About Wasting 150 gallons of water, that’s not wasting when your health and family’s health it’s involved. Thanks for the video.
150 gals of water twice a year to keep system sanitized and safe is only a fraction of water consumption used in a household for 12 months. I wouldn't say you're wasting a drop in my book!

The only issue I found was after you put the vinegar in the system did you flush it through all the faucets and for how long did you leave the vinegar solution in the system before draining it out? Thank you so much, your video made my de-winterization much less stressful! I will use your winterization video when it come time.
Thanks for such a thorough and informative video! First time de-winterizing... I'm curious though why you don't have to turn on the pump and run the vinegar solution through the lines (vinegar was just fill tank, dump tank at 15:28 or so), the way you did with the bleach solution. Wouldn't there still be bleachyness in the lines if you don't?
Bleach + Vinegar = Toxic Chlorine Gas. While the combination does create a good disinfectant, these two common cleaning agents should never be used at the same time. Never use vinegar after bleach water. It does not neutralize bleach. This is sadly something that has been taught for years, but does actually the opposite. That aside, thanks for the video--I especially like the tips to check tire pressure and running air out of the propane lines!
I just googled on vinegar neutralizing beach, didn't sound quite right to me. Here is what I found. "Vinegar is one such substance that is erroneously purported to have a neutralizing effect on bleach. Instead, vinegar acts on the hypochlorite content of bleach, turning it into hypochlorous acid and other dangerous chemicals. Hypochlorous acid can convert to deadly chlorine gas in a low pH solution." I do see talk of using them together and talk that you shouldn't use them together. You may want to do more research on this.
This is a valid point and legitimate concern. I have demonstrated the amount of bleach when it is mixed with the 30-50 gallons of water in your water tank would be extremely diluted. Then the amount of vinegar mixed with the tank full of water would also be extremely diluted. Also the bleach/water solution would have already been 95%+ drained out and in my opinion causes no concern for risk of chlorine vapor. At least in my experience it has been not any problem. The extra step using vinegar just eliminates the "smell or taste" of bleach after the tank sanitation. I suggest if you are worried about negative effects then please skip the step of the vinegar/water tank rinse and just rinse with straight water instead. NEVER MIX FULL STRENGTH BLEACH & VINEGAR!
I liked your video. Very helpful. Idea of neutralizing the bleach-water sanitizer was new to me. However, I see other places that vinegar is NOT recommended for that purpose.
The concern some people have is the chemical reaction between the bleach and vinegar(acid). The dilution rate of the two products in that much water is so low that in my opinion there is no safety issue. This is strictly my opinion, and please, if anyone is worried about mixing bleach and vinegar then skip the step of adding vinegar to the tank. Just fill and drain with straight water. 2 cups of bleach (later you say 3) for a 50 gallon tank? Wow! That's overkill......need 1/4 cup per 15 gallons. And premix the bleach & some water in another container first; then add it to the tank.
Great video! I have a 2004 Nash and this is completely applicable to my rig. A few questions: Did you close the bypass valves of the water heater between rinse cycles? What is a ‘low point drain’? Thanks!

So I have this exact trailer and was wondering, do you run all the faucets and or water sources with the vinegar solution as well before you pull the plug on your fresh water drain and again with fresh water.

Did you drain you grey and Black after running all that water through the faucets and toilet? We haven’t used ours yet so I’m wondering if I can just drain those right on our driveway? What do you do, where you’ve used your trailer and probably don’t want black water tank water on your driveway?
It isnt really that much water going into your grey and black tank. I would say not really enough to be concerned about but if you wish you could drain your grey water tank into a bucket or onto the ground in your driveway. I would not recommend draining your black tank at all outside of a sani dump station.

What about how to re-plumb your water pump? I used a kit that hooks the water pump up to the antifreeze bottle that needs to be re-hooked somehow. That's what I don't know how to do. Can you give advice on that? Thanks.
You need an air compressor and a special hook up that will attach the compressor to the water intake valve. (I got one on amazon for 5 bucks). You blow air through all the lines, opening each faucet one at a time. The problem is if there is any water left in your U traps, it'll freeze and expand. It stays below freezing where I am. I do both, I blow out my lines and then add antifreeze to the drains (shower, toilet, sinks) to protect those U traps.
William Bailey no not to dewinterize. if you are planning on sanitizing your fresh water tank then it may need to be somewhat level in order to completely drain. this would depend on where your drain valve is located.
I think using bleach is not the best way to sanitize your RV. Hydrogen peroxide is a much better alternative. Also I have my own way to sanitize almost anything with no chemicals at all. Since I use a CPAC at night. I use ozone water to sanitize it. You can buy a ozone generator on Amazon for as little as $50.00. Ozone is safe and good to drink. It’s kills all germs and even chemicals in water. I’ve found so many useful things to clean with ozone water. A few gallons of ozone treated water in your tank will keep it fresh with no harmful chemicals or bad taste. After a few hours ozone turns back into pure oxygen. Running a ozone generator in a room for a short time sanitizes the entire room and kills all mole and mildew. It eliminates all odor and makes your room or RV smell like the air after a rain shower. Natures way of cleaning the air. Please look up ozone use on RU-vid.
Wutttttt? You say to use compressed air or pink anti-freeze. Then you say hook up the garden hose, then turn on the faucets indoors and then "flush out as much of the pink stuff as you can." What happened to the step involving how and where to put the pink antifreeze? How much of it? Any brand or chemical type preferred over others? Etc. Thank you.
