Same I just defeated Bonemass last night. Got into mountains for the first time, then I was ripped to pieces by a pack of wolves and couldn’t face going back for my stuff so just called it. Open RU-vid and boom, it’s almost like a personal attack.
another tip when you die, have some backup food by your bed, doesnt need to be much, and then WAIT to get the well rested buff, I know we are impatient and we want to rush back in but this helps a lot when running back to regen your health
A lot of people seem to consider this impractical, but my favourite strategy for death reduction is to have 3 reserve sets of gear per tier if possible. That is a lot of work, especially during the bronze stage, but for me the main reason why death loops happened, is because I would die while fully geared, but then keep running back in and try and retrieve my items while completely naked. I love some of the RU-vid videos I've seen exploring Soviet bunkers, and so I built my own in Valheim, complete with surplus equipment. I'm not the best at this game in terms of actual technique, but by having a lot of stuff, I can keep trying even when I do die, and still win in the end. Another two suggestions which have worked well for me, is to make bed sheds on top of about every fourth or fifth crypt you encounter in the swamp, and also to always build a fire just inside the door of every crypt as well. The bed sheds keep corpse runs fast and short, and the fires allow you to renew your Rested bonus and maintain it constantly while you are exploring crypts.
Great idea, though I often just skip the bronze age and start doing this during the iron age. I find keeping movement speed for fighting Elder more important than being tanky anyway, so I use troll hide armor until I can get the iron stuff.
Feels good to be back baby. Laptop fried, quit my job and put myself through hell. Working hard and better off than before. Steam deck initial install finally worked and right when I downloaded Valhiem, Nick's videos came rushing back in my mind
Great video Nick! I knew that dodge rolling made you invincible for a bit, but I never thought about dodging in the direction of the enemy to stay close-My main focus was always to get away. I'm going to try this on my next playthrough.
A tip noone made a video about. If you die, instantly close out(force close) the game without saving or logging off. You will have all your stuff still and not dead when you log back in. If you do this in a friends world, you will still drop a tombstone. But when you log back in youll still have your stuff in invo and your tombstone will still be there. Your welcome, i just taught you how to dup =)
I knew about the roll, but I never thought to use it in the burial chambers. That period can be considered vulnerable since there is a lack of ample protection. Really helpful video.
What is the best way to learn the timing of the dodge roll? As in which part of the attack actually inflicts the damage particularly troll, abomination, stone golem, etc., where they are quite long
The short answer is when they connect they deal the damage unless it’s AOE. As far as timing goes 99% of the time when the enemy is swinging there weapon down / towards you is the time to dodge. The roll animation is long and the I frames are generous. Most likely if you’re failing the dodge roll you are rolling late or way too early. You can start the dodge earlier than it seems basically. But don’t overthink it if you see the enemy swing their weapon dodge that will most likely work especially with a little practice.
Dashboard or use task manager to end your games task after saving your character and the next time you log in you will spawn at your bed with the items you saved with, including ore and metals ingots
I hate how most deaths are solely my fault because sometimes i forget to eat before going out doing stuff, so i'll just be fighting trolls and skeletons at 25 health lol.
