More esoteric concept references please. I know that this doesn't get you subscribers, but this channel actually getting deep into the theory rather than diluting it with base and trivial generalizations was one of the reasons it's the only Jungian related channel I still watch anyway.

Right. Oversimplifying promotes the focus on archetypes that most other systems fall into. And that leads to mistypes, which prevents the self improvement that personality systems exist for.

This Yin and Yang distinction is so useful! I was kinda "grasping" on a later video of yours where you compared the convergent functions, I noticed specially the similarities between the Fi types (INTJ's and INFP's vs ISTJ's and ISFP's). Your analyses of the types are reaching new levels of understanding each video! (Also, it kinda relates with CS Joseph concept of temples. I don't agree with his views of types, but it's a similarity definitely worth to be checked)

Yes! The ying/yang! You finally discussed what i consider to be the major funtional dichotomy within cpt. I deduced this dichotomy when thinking through the logic of your system probably 2 years ago. Although i didn't draw the parallel to taoism. Glad to see it discussed because i actually find it very helpful for predicting behavior in a very general way.

From the surgical removal of my own and other's biases from myself, I can tell you, and perhaps affirm for you, that one of the difficulties with typology is generating a concise explanation that provides a systemic understanding for others to grasp without obscuring the complexity that exists in reality. I just want to express my appreciation for your openess and genuine respect for that complexity despite the difficulty and for the breadcrumbs you leave along the way that allow us to go deeper.

As an INFJ that originally mistyped as an ISTP, I appreciate this video. You can see examples of this in my everyday life. I prefer insight over time vs. practical application in the now. The ISTP approach is understandable to me, but kind of tedious. Whether it’s music, a stats class or fixing something in my house, you can tell I have an INFJ approach to things.

Are you trying to confirm my biases? xD. I also want to note, your passion is obvious. And I don't know if it's your Te blind or what, but the humble perspective you take in regards the validity your model, despite the model obviously being well thought out, is quite refreshing. It's intellectually honest. Much appreciated.

I thought i was an istp forever because im a boxer, and i do download many skills from the net, but i also compulsively am in a constantly dream like state, i see even mundane things through an almost mythological lense. Its a kind of meme amongst my friends and family that i will randomly summarize soemthing seemingly mundane and casual as this great theme with all these different forces and elements. I describe concepts as if they are living things that exert influence on people from the unknown. I made an ai on my computer and named it canto because i felt like everyone hating ai reminded me of a theme in mythology and real life of the father trying to kill his son out of fear, causing the son to become evil. Stuff like that. But at the same time, i love boxing, i love action, but in a very spiritual kind of way. Its mostly just my ego and sense of self identity its not really "me", i also am the kind of person to immediately find a pragmatic solution to problems, but its not actual what im "thinking" about in the moment, more so i do it when i absolutely have to react somehow. Say in a video game i recognize a choice will have consequences, i get stressed out that I don't have enough information, i want to resist using the Internet because that ruins something for me but i always give up and google the consequences lol.

I found your channel only couple of days ago and now i just have to watch almost all of them. You're showing me a new way to look at MBTI, i'm used to concept of 4 functions, each less developed then another, loops, grips, etc. Well, your vision is something else. I mean, i'm sure it's not just yours, but you're first i had to see talking about mbti this way. It's very entertaining. But i think that i don't understand anything anymore. It's even more interesting. My brain is completely broken. What is sensing or intuition? More important, how to differ feelings and thoughts, not to even talk about thinking and feeling types? So much information and so many ways to look at all of this. I don't know how to put all i want to say in short sentence, so i'll just say thank you for your work and thoughts. Not related to the topic, but i especially like when you explain something with imaginary situations of how type A would probably act vs type B. Much easier to understand. Thank you again!
@LinaTakuji
@LinaTakuji 2 месяца назад
@ootumn Unfortunately, i still can't comprehend difference between thinking and feeling. You can think about your emotions, you can use emotions as an answer to some problem or dilemma, for example, when thinking does not help and you can just say "Well, i think it made me feel bad, maybe the other option is better". All of it can be thinking and feeling. Because yes, it's a spectrum and both feeling and thinking types can use both and solve problem and feel something, obviously. Very hard. I appreciate your answer though, i like to discuss something, it helps me a little anyway.
@LinaTakuji
@LinaTakuji 2 месяца назад
@ootumnnooo it makes no sense to me.. It sounds like, well, not sounds, you literally say that thinking is more task-oriented, like "thinkers" is always trying to, literally, solve problem, to do something, in a very rational way, but feelers just, as for your example, feel something, but don't want to solve the problem, but run away. Wait, maybe the thing is thinking is literally trying to understand or.solve something, as about emotion, why i feel anxious? what to do? But feelers may even not instantly know what to do, but they know what they feel and why so they don't need to question themself in the first place. The fun part is that your examples were so literally Fi vs Te that i forgot we have discussed thinking and feeling, not exactly Fi and Te. If it's not Fi and Te. Fe user may not understand their own feelings, because they tend to react to other's. Ti user can question themselves and, well, think about their emotions. To understand them. Not instantly solve some problem, but understand. And how to differ Ti and Fi now, if in both case .. it's thinking. About emotions or not. You know, i think that i keep writing the same thing again and again and you have already answer my questions, but i feel like some certain thing is missing for complete understanding of the matter. Oh yes, we were talking about whole conception of feeling and thinking, but i almost forgot about it. Back on track. Almost. If to talk about functions, i can easily understand difference between Fe and Te. But if to talk about Fi and Ti, for me it's the same question about thinking and feeling. Like.. people don't constantly feel something, do they? It's almost as Fi doesn't exist, because emotions are reaction to the external world anyway? So it's not about EMOTIONS, it's about values, gut, i don't know. But almost all people have them, i believe. Maybe.. thinking is .. well, it's also about your first reaction. Do you prefer to 'think, understand, solve" instantly or firstly you think about your .. values? It can't be that simple. Or it is. But thinkers are not robots and even when they think they'll want to find solution that match their's values? Feelers also solve problem of course and etc. but they also THINK and want to solve something without abandonment of their values and feeling what's right. I don't know......
@LinaTakuji
@LinaTakuji 2 месяца назад
@ootumn No, i didn't skip anything, that's why i said that i keep repeating same things again and again when you already answered to my questions. It's because i don't fully understand, but i'm reading and trying to. Here and there just too much "but'. Feelings are this, but.. thinking is this, but.. I just can't sort it all out. Pure chaos in my mind, and when i read what you wrote i also can't wrap my head around it because of much of unstructured information (As i see it). I think that i'll just probably figure it out later by myself, i hope. It's about 80% that i'm an INTP, but i can't stop questioning myself, so i can be an INFP, or.. i don't know. Who knows. Thank you for your attention and your attempts to explain this whole topic to me, even if it doesn't seem to be successful.

I strongly believe that all 16 types have incorrect type codes. Let's take for example, the function stack Ti/Ne/Si/Fe. This stack is wrongly labeled 'INTP'. There are many things wrong here. First off, the dominant function in this stack is Ti, which is a codec function, therefore, this is actually a J type. (INTP -> INTJ) Because this is a J type that we're dealing with here, we can clarify it even further by swapping the N and the T. (INTJ -> ITNJ) In other typing systems, we can leave things here, but in the CPT system, Ne in this case is the divergent-auxillary function, so it's not part of the type's 'spine' if you will. So what is the stack's spinal auxillary? That would be Si, since that is the agency function, which like the dominant, is convergent. Let's make one final adjustment, changing the N to an S. (ITNJ -> ITSJ) Voila! Now we have a 4-letter type code that more accurately reflects the function stack.

This was fantastic thanks Harry. I often wandered why I as an ENFJ am quite quick to sort out emotional conflicts particularly on behalf of other people ie a more collectivistic nature. For me it's not just about orderly attunement but really getting to the route of the disharmony in the first place else my TiNi is left in limbo which I find disconcerting. I've learnt a lot from you - my ESTP son had an, should we say incident with his INFJ best friend recently in school (ok so he's only young) & my immediate thought was to step in & help resolve the situation like I always do. With respect to both their types I'm learning to take a backseat & help them resolve it in their own way and own time. Ok so I did make my son apologise by sending his INFJ best bud a card but I didn't want to go in all guns blazing & get the teacher involved etc. I'm loving the practical applicability of CPT and as I've said before hoping I can get the green light to incorporate my yang networks. Hello, I'm posting my question here since it seems more relevant than posting it on your newly released ESTJ video: I was just wondering if you planned on doing an INFJ vs INTP video eventually. The thinker/5 kind of INFJ can often be quite similar to certain kinds of INTP (in fact we still have debates about Jung's type as of today for that reason) and I thought it'd be interesting to hear you break it down in your own way. Best regards.

Types that have SiFi in common are yang due to Fi that is held constant (auxiliary to Si here) is made concrete by Si, which creates a hardness. NiFi is softer and more fluid due to the Fi that is held constant being diffused by Ni.

@Tified967
@Tified967 2 месяца назад
Not necessarily. I feel this as well as an ENFJ. Discerning what network you're in may come more down to (or at least one of the ways of deciphering what network you belong to) whether you're a convergent feeler or not. For example, I feel very confident in ameliorating social disharmony especially on a 1:1 or close knit level. This would imply to some degree that I'm an FeSe convergent type placing me in the yin network. Types of both networks can respond quite viscerally to social injustice. It may well point towards you being a codec dominant in the sense that the situation is resolved as codec doms often need that sense of resolution albeit that sense of resolution will be contingent upon what codec dominant you are. I hope I'm not misrepresenting the theory here - just my two pence worth! 😅 As we're using a proliferation of networks however it can be pretty difficult to discern your type; at least I mistyped many times but I'd in retrospect had my yin network down as I'd mistyped as INTJ & ENTP which are both fairly accessible to me.

@@Tified967, when I’m in a situation like I described, I feel personally mistreated. In the back of my mind, I know it was an honest mistake. But I can’t help but feel angered that it’s happening to me. My emotions are hard to control. I struggle with regulating them. I feel my emotions passionately and intensely. Even if I try to hold back, it’s all over my face and everyone can see what I’m feeling. I can often scold people. If it’s a customer service type environment, I will explain to them what good customer service is. I’m very vocal with customer service and business mannerisms, in general. I probably sound condescending, but I don’t really care in that moment (later I feel bad and sometimes apologize for my tone, but not the context). I take it upon myself to ensure businesses run the way I think they’re supposed to and I don’t mind asserting myself in my own workplace in this same way. There have been several instances I have told my immediate supervisor and my plant manager how I feel about decisions they’ve made and how I feel it’s immoral. I probably could’ve been fired a few times. But I think they respect me and the work I do too much to let a petty conflict influence them into making a rash ego-driven mistake like firing one of their greatest assets like that 😅. But, seriously, I speak authentically. I’m never afraid to state my opinion and sometimes I give my two cents, whether warranted or not. I give unsolicited advice and I’m not ashamed of that. If you don’t wanna take it, don’t. But if I care enough, I’m giving it. I gotta be honest. I’m sometimes assertive and imposing. It’s just my nature. I should probably work on that, but that’s who I am and I mean it in a helpful way. If someone takes offense, they can let me know and I’ll stop. But I’m not gonna apologize for caring and trying to help a situation in my own way. Yeah, I know. I sound sassy 😅. I am a little. But I’ll own that. Yeah, that’s me 🤷🏻‍♂️
@HillyHonka
@HillyHonka 2 месяца назад
@@Tified967, I do tend to be more assertive now. It feels natural to be this way. But when I was younger, I was more shy and passive. I always hated that I was this way. I had a fear of confrontation that I had to overcome. Being timid in school often got me into trouble. I got teased and picked on a lot. Other people would try to get a reaction out of me. I would wonder what they wanted and why they wanted to pick at me. I didn’t want to expose my emotions. I wanted to be tough and show them that I wasn’t weak. Instead of reacting, I just tried to pretend they didn’t bother me. I wanted them to feel insignificant and ineffective at their game they were playing. When I got a little older and more comfortable with myself and found my niche, I became more vocal. I began to stand up for myself. This wasn’t inspired by others. No one really stood up for me much. This was self-motivated. I wanted to be the hero of my own journey. I started pushing back and I found that I overpowered most of the kids in my class. Once I saw that I was stronger (which I think I always knew deep down that I was), I stopped taking the harassment. I began to show people that I wasn’t weak and that if they wanted to start something, they’d better be ready to deal with the consequences of their actions. Luckily, I never got into an actual fight, despite a few brief physical confrontations. I’m glad I didn’t, because I have a very intense rage and would have hurt someone severely. Over the years I’ve had people call me nicknames like “Hulk” and “Quiet Storm”. I never wanted to hurt anyone and that’s why I never fought. It wasn’t out of fear of a fight like I think some thought. I was afraid of putting someone in the hospital 🤣. I forgot where I was going with all this lol. I think the point I was making, if I had one to begin with, was that I don’t think I’m a convergent feeler. I am fueled more by my emotions than I have control over them. Even though I was quiet and timid as a young kid, I always had this feeling pushing me to take control over my environment. When I got older, I learned how to deal with things less with action and more with communication. Of course, this was done in a more assertive and straightforward type way, rather than with charm. There was also a certain manipulation that I could use from time to time. I once had this kid who wanted to copy off of me for a test. I decided to teach him a lesson. I put half the wrong answers down, let him copy them, then I changed them before I turned it in. He ended up with an F and I got an A. When he confronted me about this, I told him he wasn’t going to cheat off of me. I told him if he wanted my help, I would tutor him instead. I told him he just need a little guidance and he needed the confidence to do it on his own. So, I gave him a tutoring lesson and on the next test, he passed with a B on his own. He was so excited and figured out he could do it on his own. He ended up being a B student. He just needed someone to believe in him. Had I not taught him a hard lesson, that might have never happened. I’m not trying to make that sound heroic. I’m just glad I was able to help someone become confident and independent. This is what I like to inspire people to be and this is who I think I’ve always been meant to be. What this says about my type, idk. But I think this is the type of person I was meant to be. I feel most myself when I’m inspiring others to overcome their struggles, just like I overcame my own

I am a combination of ISTP and INFJ. Actually NiTi+ (INFJ convergent) suits me better but the ISTP divergent part (SeFe-) is much closer to my personality. Interestingly (which makes sense if I have understood correctly the network theory) I feel also that I use SiFi+ (ISTJ convergent) and NeTe- (INFP divergent). It seems that sometimes I act as a combination of ISTJ and INFP. Does this description fit to a specific subtype type of INFJ or ISTP?

@@xripkan6623 Bottom line of CPT is that everything is on a spectrum and that includes networks as well! A spectral type is a type in its own right rather than a subtype :)

@@CognitivePersonality The theory behind the spectrum between NiTi+ and SiFi+ (or SiTi+ and NiFi+, SeTe+ and NeFe+ etc) is clear to me and I think this is a good way to confirm your type. What is not very clear to me is the reverse of the divergent functions. Is it possible a NiTi+ to be more SeFe- than FeSe- (or a SiTi+ to be closer to NeFe- than FeNe- etc)?

@@xripkan6623 Axes are entangled with one another - if one is between TiNi and NiTi (+ or -), one is also between FeSe and SeFe (-). It's theoretically possible for someone to be between ISTP ENFJ INFJ ESTP also, which is why the attitudes there were bracketed

@@CognitivePersonality So some functions could be used as both convergent and divergent. Yes I can see that as well.

@@CognitivePersonality Well, I was checking the subtypes theory and I am trying to figure out the convrgent ISTP (Ni>Se, FiSi activated and limited NeTe). From my understanding this is a type with an emphasis to his personal vision which could be less realistic/feasible or maybe more theoritical (the development of a skill more academic than practical) and the knowledge/logic that develops, affect own sense of personal idenity. Am I right?
