One time I got pure clove oil on the back of my hand and like an idiot rubbed it in and I got light headed and almost threw up just from how strong the smell was it was crazy I was humbled
Your way of presentation is so suttle and calm I need to expert opinion on how to dilute these oil my purpose is to promote hair growth and prevent dandruff the carrier oil I'm using is castor oil and the essential oils are peppermint, rosemary, tea tree and I like to use vitamin e oil too
Thank you for this educative video about how to dilute essential oils, and how to apply them. I enjoyed watching Explore your Dream Life channel recommended to me by RU-vid .I have liked and subscribed to the channel.
That is a wonderful question! No, you don't need to apply a flame to release the fragrance. Most essential oils and fragrance oils release their scent naturally at room temperature. You can use methods such as diffusing, applying topically, or by creating your spray. Here are a few wonderful resources that go more in depth into essential oils and their uses: www.planttherapy.com/pages/essential-oils-101 www.planttherapy.com/pages/help-center?hcUrl=%2Fen-US 💚💚😁😁🌱🌱
Hi thanks for this video. I need to ask if I want to make a blend for muscular pain- can I mix peppermint ,Eucalyptus, marjoram, lavender and ginger together with coconut oil?
I need diluted tea tree oil for my eyelids, so i need other type od solvent, than other oil. What kind of solvent will be the safest for this pourpose.? Could You please, explain this in your next videos?
Hello David! That is a wonderful question! We generally recommend using a carrier oil to help extend the scent life of your reed diffusers such as coconut oil. However, Glycerin is often used to help slow down the evaporation of fragrances in diys and can help it last longer. 😊😊💚💚🌱🌱
PLEASE ANSWER!! so i am using JAMAICAN BLACK CASTOR OIL (as carrier) mixed with some argan oil to lighten it total carrier oil was 30ml so to this 30mls i added 14 drops of peppermint oil, 12 drops of lavender oil and 5 drops of tea tree oil - IS THIS TOO STRONG??????????? GOAL: promote hair growth/regrowth etc. try to prevent/slow male pattern baldness
Did you ever find out if this was too much? I have the same goal. I didn’t know I had to dilute the essential oils so all I’ve been doing is using tea tree oil and just started using rosemary oil for 2 days now (I have scalp psoriasis)
Making a room spray in a 4 oz bottle. I’m thinking 1.5 oz of vodka with chosen oils (not sure the drops ratio of these) shake well , then top off with distilled water . Does each spray need a base, middle, and top note? And, what’s the formula for calculating the amount of drops based on my above
My roller (which seemed standard fare) was 2 tablespoons, or 1 fluid oz volume. For those with a similar setup, that will be about a 1/8 of a teaspoon of essential oil. Hope this helps! (And dear plant therapy, if my math is wrong, please chime in.) (p.s. very helpful series)
what a good carrier oil to use that will mix well enough with the essential oil that it wouldnt make it cloudy and also will turn the essential oil into a good sprayable perfume/body spray
Eucalyptus and Frankincense are wonderful for pain. Almond oil would be a wonderful carrier oil so you can apply these oils topically. Here is a DIY to get you started: DIY Pain Rub Ingredients: 10 drops Eucalyptus Globus essential oil (or any Eucalyptus you have) 10 drops Frankincense Carterii essential oil (or any Frankincense you have) 2 tablespoons almond oil (Or your favorite carrier oil unscented lotion works wonderfully as well) Instructions: In a small glass bottle or jar, combine the eucalyptus and frankincense essential oils. Add the almond oil to the essential oils. Mix well by gently shaking the bottle or stirring with a clean spoon. To use, apply a small amount of the mixture to the affected area and massage gently. Store in a cool dark place when not in use. 🤗😀🙌💚
Hello Carrie! 👋 That is a great question! It honestly depends on the recipe and the number of oils and other liquids in the recipe. We recommend starting with a ratio of 1:1. If you have a recipe that calls for 100 drops of essential oil you would use 1 teaspoon of Polysorbate 80. As 100 drops of essential oil equals 1 teaspoon. 🥄 Then work your way up or down from there. It is very much trial and error. 🤔 We have some wonderful recipes on our website under our blog so you do not have to do the math.😊 We hope this helps!
Although you can use essential oils and herbs to cure certain illnesses I've heard people cure their carpal tunnel through vitamin b6 and arsenic. That's sounds shocking but even arsenic is a naturally occuring mineral and is an essential nutrient
I’m interested in the two videos you referred to - #7 and #8. Where can I find them? I didn’t see on your RU-vid channel or blog. I’m trying to find out how much frankincense and coconut oil for a 10 ml roller bottle, or mix in bigger batches so I can fill several (10) roller bottles for person suffering chronic back pain.
For every 30 ML (2TBSP) you will use 9 drops of your essential oil for every 1%. So 3% would be 27 drops mixed with 30 ML. That would give you 3 roller balls. So for 6 roller bottles 60 ML 6 TBSP and 54 drops of the oil. If you have more questions please email cs@planttherapy.com.
That is a wonderful question! Here is our wonderful blog that goes into the different types of Polysorbate and when to use them: www.planttherapy.com/blogs/blog/whats-the-deal-with-polysorbate?_pos=2&_sid=ba7818197&_ss=r Witch hazel is generally not enough to act as an emulsifier. Very high-proof alcohol can work however it is not an exact substitute and it would not be very nice if applied to the skin as alcohol is very drying. Here is our wonderful blog about Emulsifiers: www.planttherapy.com/blogs/blog/what-is-an-emulsifer-and-why-do-i-need-it?_pos=1&_sid=ba7818197&_ss=r 💚💚🌱🌱🤩🤩
Ive used essential oils for 30 years. Ive never diluted them for my personal medicinal purposes. I drop 3 drops in my clean hand swirl my hands together and inhale and rub wherever as needed. I use alot on the bottom of my feet and also neck/chest area. I think you get the maximum benefits using them undiluted. I do have some diluted in my DIY body care products I make. But for personal/ medicinal health i go straight up. I was schooled years ago on this. and it has worked great for me.
Im confused as to do you put the drops in the whole bottle of carrier oil and its good to go...or is it best to do per use...like 5 drops to some coconut oil Every time you do it?
A drop or two turns into 20 drops so fast. I think I’m gonna remove the useless lids with gloves and use my pipette to dip in and get the exact number of drops. Essential oils are no joke.
Some people definitely find it easier to control drops with a pipette. We have a wonderful Leaf Tool designed to help remove the orifice reducer (the plastic part), but a spoon can work as well. Just be careful as you wiggle the orifice reducer free. 😊 However, exposure to air can cause oils to oxidize faster, so keep an eye on the oils for changes in scent or color. Here is a wonderful blog that goes more in-depth into essential oils expiring: www.planttherapy.com/blogs/blog/do-essential-oils-really-expire?_pos=1&_sid=cc4b6e655&_ss=r 🤗🤗🌱🌱💚💚
You would want to make sure it is a KidSafe Eucalyptus oil, If it is not it could be to strong and end up burning the child. We recommend a 1.5% dilution all the way up to a 3% maximum dilution for 6 year old's. For the 1.5% it is 4 drops of essential oil in 10 ML bottle and the rest carrier oil. For the 3% dilution it would be 9 drops of essential oil and the rest would be carrier oil. We hope this helps!
I was wanting to use clove essential oil for my nephews earache what do you recommend diluting it with and I was thinking that it will be rubbed on the outside of the ear not internally. He just recently had his tonsils and Adenoids removed which is causing him ear pain
Those are wonderful questions! Essential oils, like Frankincense, are volatile liquids that while they can't be applied directly to the skin without dilution are full of wonderful benefits. This is where carrier oils come in. Carrier oils, such as coconut or jojoba oil, are used to safely dilute essential oils for topical use. Fractionated coconut oil is a type of carrier oil that has been processed to remove long-chain fatty acids, so it stays liquid at room temperature and is great for mixing with essential oils. 🌱💚😁😊
Yes you can! we would recommend a 1% dilution of castor oil and Rosemary essential oil. 2 TBSP of castor oil and 9 drops of Rosemary. We hope this helps!
I am seeing that if someone tee tree oil gets into the body, mouth or eyes or otherwise, it is harmful. How do you recommend the safest way to wash our hands and palms to be very sure that the oil is completely removed. PS: I am observing that even after washing hands well 2-3 times, the smell of it stays back. Best,
Hi . I’m new to this channel . I would like to use Lemon and Lavender oils , et al as an insect repellant . How do I go about this using a spray bottle ?
That is a wonderful question! Here is our amazing DIY pest spray you can follow: www.planttherapy.com/blogs/blog/non-toxic-natural-pest-spray-diy?_pos=13&_sid=c8bed1543&_ss=r 💚💚🤗🤗🌱🌱
Thank you for sharing ... approx how many drops of essential oils would I need to put in a 100ml or grams of diy body butter for daily use . Thank you for your assistance?
That is a great question! You can add the Rosemary oil straight to your shampoo bottle. For daily use, we recommend a dilution rate of 1%. That would be 9 drops per ounce of shampoo. 😍💚💜💇♀️
I heard about mixing rosemary, lavender and cedarwood with witch hazel to make a spray for hair growth. I am a bit hesitant to use witch hazel. What do you recommend to mix essential oils with for hair loss and growth solution? Kindly suggest. Thanks The mixture is about 10 drops of each oil with 1 oz witch hazel and 4 Oz distilled water.
10 drops of each oil in 5 oz of carrier would be lovely! Witch hazel would be great to use as a carrier. We would recommend adding Polysorbate 20 to help with emulsification! 😊💚
Can I add rosemary essential oil mixed in carrier oil on my son's scalp who is 20...is it safe...and how often should I use it...will it reduce premature grey
Hei.. my name is Rizka. I have 200ml of pure castor oil, 100ml pure candlenut oil, and 50ml pure pepermint oil. I want to ask what the best mix dilution for my hair care. Thankyou, i hope for your answer ^^
For your scalp, you will only want a 1% dilution rate. which is 2 tablespoons of carrier oil and 9 drops of your peppermint. You will not want to make big batches but small little batches so that they don't get rancid. Since we do not sell candlenut oil we can't be sure whether it will emulsify the oil or not. So you would want to look into that if it does, we would say you can use a tablespoon of each carrier oil for the dilution rate above. We hope this helps!
We recommend following the max dilution recommendation of the oil you are using! On our products the dilution percentage can be found on the back of the label! 💚 blog.planttherapy.com/blog/2013/12/04/essential-oil-dilution-chart/
I just purchased Ancient Apothecary Hormones for Women. The only instructions is on the bottle which says to Dilute 1 drop in 4 oz of liquid. I have no idea what to do. I am post menopausal and I am looking to balance hormones naturally.
Would love to know how much “ Camphor “ you can add to 2 cups of Infused Rosemary Oil ? Fresh Rosemary was infused in a carrier oil for 4 hours in a crock pot and would love to know how much of Camphor to add and at what stage. Thank you :)
Hi everyone please help! How many drops or how much dilution do i need for scabies treatment? I already have tea tree oil and clove oil and VCO. :((( pls this skin disease is very frustrating. I badly neee help
Hi, I have a question, what about mixing an extract in liquid form to oil mixture? How? And do we need preservatives bdcause the extract is liquid (contains water)?
That's a great question! The need to dilute an extract in a carrier oil depends on the type of extract and its intended use. For instance, extracts like vanilla or peppermint that are intended for flavoring do not usually require dilution in carrier oils. On the other hand, concentrated extracts like herbal or essential oil extracts can be potent and unsafe for direct skin application. Therefore, it is advisable to dilute such extracts in carrier oils before use on the skin to reduce the intensity of the extract and promote safe usage. In terms of preservatives, the need for them depends on the extraction method, the type of extract, and intended use. Some extracts like those made with glycerin or alcohol can act as natural preservatives, while others may require preservatives to prevent microbial growth and ensure product safety. If you are making your own extracts, it is crucial to research and determine if a preservative is necessary for your specific extract. When purchasing extracts, you can check the ingredient list to see if a preservative has been included. Lastly, storing extracts in a cool and dark place and using them within a reasonable timeframe can help preserve their quality and potency. If you're unsure about any aspect of using extracts, it's always best to consult the manufacturers for more information. ☺☺💚💚😊😊
I have a 16oz jar of pure coconut oil and a 1fl oz of oregano vulgare l poured a little more than half of oregano into the coconut oil is this amount safe to rub on entire body for scabies out break
While adding essencial oil into carrier oil after a period of time some unwanted smell comes along with that, kindly help what I can add to remove such unwanted smell
Thanx for such a great & lovely description which helped me indeed! Pls let me know , is MCT cococnut oil and fractionated coconut oil is same? I mean MCT coconut oil can be used for face and skin?
Please contact one of our certified Aromatherapists and they will gladly assist you with this. Just be sure to list the oils you want to use, please. Our email is cs@planttherapy.com, thank you!
That is a great question! For a 2 oz bottle of Jojoba Oil, you will want to add 16 drops of Peppermint. That will give you a dilution rate of 2%. We hope this helps! 💜💚😊😀
@@Planttherapy I want to use these oils for my scalp, aloe Vera gel, 1 spoon of almond oil 1 spoon of castor oil and 6 drops of tea tree oil, how would I dilute the essential oil’s? I read to mix these but wasn’t sure about dilution and stuf
I've made a face moisturizer for dry skin, i have used approx 2 tbsp of shea butter and 1 tbsp jojoba oil with 6-7 drops of essential oil (neroli light, lavender and rose geranium), is that safe? Im new to this so had no idea about safety and dilution ratio as i was just following a tutorial on natural moisturisers! She never advised on how much to use just a 'few drops' for a larger volume. Used it for a day and no reaction as such 🤐😑
The only magnets that we have are the dilution charts, www.planttherapy.com/products/dilution-chart-magnet. You will have to look at the maximum dilution rate on each bottle and take the lowest rate. You can't have your dilution set higher than the lowest so if it's 2% and you have 6 oils you have to make sure that you only use 27 drops in a 30 ML carrier oil. So 27 would have to be divided by 6. Which is 4 drops of 3 oils and 3 oils that can have 5 drops. We hope this helps!
Can you tell me how much quantity of essential oil should be added in herbal shampoo Ani which oil would be best for silky n shiny hair?? Can you tell me quantity of oil to be added in 200 ml shampoo
blog.planttherapy.com/blog/2015/08/10/comprehensive-essential-oil-dilution-chart/ According to the chart you will want to use 60 drops in 200 ML that is a 1% dilution and you dont want any higher on your scalp. I would recommend the Rosemary as it is good for hair and scalp.
Yes, you can add 2 oils together, In this case, you can have a 5% max dilution with the 2 oils mentioned. SO 45 drops with 30 ML or 2 Tablespoons of carrier oil. That is just using the dilution chart that is in our resource center on the website.
Thank you for the very informative video! I have a question. When I want to make a blend of essential oils and dilute them in a carrier oil, do I need to look at the total amount of all combined essential oils in order to calculate the dilution? For instance, do I make sure that each essential oil is 2% of the carrier oil (in which case combined I will have about 12% essential oils in the carrier oil) or all essential oils combined are 2% of the carrier oil?
@@danlightened --- "All essential oils should be 2% combined"!!! If you would do 2% or whatever dilution you are choosing on each essential oil, then it would be too strong of a dilution.
Hey you should check kenna on RU-vid she is a biochemist and has a whole series on essential oils.. and to answer your question she used several essential oils in carrier oil and the total of them all was 2% not 2% of each essential oil which will result in 12% hope this helps
I'm glad I found your Channel. I have allergic reactions to almost all synthetic products. I recently bought some 99.8 percent organic cotton socks and they have practically changed my life. However, it is near impossible to find underwear or t-shirts in my size in organic cotton. That being said is an oil that I should use to stop this synthetic rash I get from my clothing? I am completely new to oil therapy. Thanks in advance!
Maybe you should try "Helichrysum" essential oil, I don't know if this would help, but you do need to do your research. I think this oil might help. Please research.
Very informative video.. I should have watched this before using essential oils. I have been allergic to almost all essential oils now since I used some hot oils like clove in my diluted oils, but may be I didn’t dilute properly and used large amounts. Now even if I use few drops of lavender with coconut oil and apply , my body gets heated up and getting leg cramps and discomfort. Any advise on this and will I ever be able to use these again ?
We are so sorry to hear this! Unfortunately, this sensitization can be a long term affect! We would recommend maybe trying a similar product such as Lavandin! www.planttherapy.com/search?Store_Code=PT&q=lavandin
For dermal purposes, I don't dilute the oil at all. The only time that I dilute the oil is when I consume it. I can add a drop or two of Oregano oil to my pot of pasta to flavor it. Or, I will add a drop of wintergreen, lemon or grapefruit oil to a 750 ml bottle of drinking water to flavor it.
You would only want to do a 1% dilution which is 30 ML of coconut oil and 9 drops of Rosemary. We would not recommend mixing it all together as it could go bad before you got to use it all.
I have a chronic thyroid dysfunction and want to try daily thyroid massage using frankincense n myrrh essential oil. Would that have to be 2% or 5% dilution ?
That is a great question! The directions on the bottle should tell you how much to use based on the size of your spray for both the emulsifier and preservative. 💜💚😍
