Thank you for this video. I've been trying to take off the buttpad off without trying to damage it with the pliers, and you showed me that I needed to pry it sideways rather than straight out. It worked!
So I was swapping out plastic for an original wood buttstock for my G3, and I'm stuck! THANK YOU for the video, I never would have thought to look for the Enfield style screw in the stock on my own. THANK YOU AGAIN!
This video is a godsend. I'm looking to retrofit a wood cetme butstock to my ptr91 and couldn't for the life of me figure out how to remove the stock. The first half I got on my own but that last half saved me hours of finagling and likely breaking something lol
Thank you so much for this. I purchased an original wood stock set but it lacked much besides the wood itself. I was dreading taking the old surplus stock apart and putting it The wood before this. Still looks tedious for sure
4:37 This seems to be the most difficult part of the disassembly. I'm having a hard time right now trying to do this myself; the backplate seems to be a very tight fit with many stocks.
Thanks for the video, I bought a CETME NOS wood stock set that I want to fit onto my PTR91. The CETME has no metal so i'm thinking I can buy a cheap plastic stock set and swap over the buffer and other stuff to the wood right?
so is the buffer locking plate still in the stock? i bought an enhanced buffer and its twice as long as the original buffer. i havent tried to install it yet. ive switched over all of my internals to a surplus od green hk stock before, but it was years ago and ive forgotten how it went. nice video. a little narration and a view inside the stock with a light wouldnt have hurt. but it gets the job done. thanks
What type of sling does the the swedish army use for their G3 rifles? Can you link me to a photo? I have a ptr 91 gi 100. Greetings from ozark, missouri. I have been through sweden on a train ride. Most beautiful country ever and the swedish people are the nicest in Europe... on my journey through france, the French people wouldn't even talk to me lol... I even practiced French... And spoke it well enough... They don't like tourists there... Although I do understand that a bit.
I dont know and dont have the photo of swedish AK4 sling :/. I know Swedish G3 version AK4 has diffrent type of bolt carrier, lower reciver also, just slightly diffrent. Also marking on the SEF lowers are S.P.A
@@Close_Up Yeah, sorry ...a firearms instructor I know attended a H&K armorers school back in the 80’s that specialized in the “G” series of rifles. He told me that the Germans are crazy for redundancy and proceeded to rattle off a list of things that they do. As a result, I always wondered if the screws holding the stock assembly togethered were torqued. It would be so German of them to do just that... The Spuhr stock looks like a great upgrade and if I were to go in that direction I was thinking that if there were any torque setting on those screws it would be wise to keep the assembly consistent. No. The easiest way to take off the buttpad is to stick the buttpad into the wedge of a door (please don't use a fragile/hollow door, you might break the door!) gently close the door (you're using it like a vise) and simply wiggle the buttstock side to side while keeping the buttpad in place with the closed door, you will literally start to see the buttpad come off, and it will come off fairly easily using this method. Again, be careful of the type of door you use to do this, you don't want to mark up or ruin your door. I think this method is also described on MG42.net in the G3/AG3 section.
I dont think its easy, I can see on the recoil rod that there is two pins, you can push out to remove the spring, but I thnik its not mant to be removed at all
I have this same question. I have a Vector V51 SBR and it has a proprietary collapsing recoil rod that I would like to transfer to a Spuhr stock. I think the embedded nuts in the stock are turning as I can't even remove the two screws as they just turn endlessly. They just may pull right out, so I'll tackle the bolt inside the stock and see if it comes apart. Didn't know about that bolt but thanks to this video, I do now. Edited to add: I was able to remove the stock from the buffer/recoil rod assembly and a Spuhr stock is in route. I have to add that the recoil rod is permanently affixed to the end cap but if you are upgrading like I am to a Spuhr, the new stock will just insert into the end cap/recoil rod assembly. That's what I did mate! However, the original wood buffer was slightly smaller than my receiver, and try as I might I could not get the buffer over the receiver. So, being the ingenious gent that I am, I was going to take the wood off and replace the plastic on the buffer that came with my rifle, so I got stuck here as well!
When I saw hims grabbing the butt plate with an unprotected grip AND wrench it out the incorrect way - I switched off. Some people should not be allowed to own guns!
@@Lonewolf6565 - I cringed when those metal vice jaws gripped that polymer butt stock without some sort pf protection. Every gun owner should at least have a modicum of mechanical sympathy. This fella never got the memo.
@@jeroendesterke9739 Thats not polymer its a rubber butt pad. And there are millions of them on the surplus market they are only a three dollar part. They are meant to eventually be replaced after they get beat to hell.
