Ha- Every swear word? . I just spent two hours and still only have my rim halfway into the new tire. But I did make up many, new and exciting colorful sentence enhancers. Of course, it is possible that my insane babbling was me speaking in tongues after a curse was put on me by the Do-It-Yourselfer-Weekend-Warrior-Demons from hell who exist on the exuberant swearing and frustration of do-it-yourselfers..
Its easy with a used and soft rubber with the bead already loose. Try doing this with brand spanking new ones with stiff rubber and tight beads, its a whole different story!
HA HA! Thanks I needed that after watching 6 different videos of guys just yanking them out with their hands. I cut the old one apart but I want to save the other side.... tire shop I go! :-( Such a failure!
Thank you! I changed my zero turn rear tires to some more aggressive ones. Watching the steps you took really made a difference in my ability to tackle the task.
THAT SOAPY WATER WAS KEY!!! After fighting my lawn tractor tire for an hour, I opened up YT, watched your video, got myself a bottle of soapy water, and THIRTY seconds later, I was DONE. Thank you so very much!
Bought 4 new tires the other day, and was going to see about getting the tires broken down and get the new ones mounted. The local small engine place wanted.....wait for it......$17.50 per tire!!! I'm going on 71 and didn't think I had enough strength to do it again, but after watching your video, I'm going to get a friend over, and together, I think I will be able to handle it. Was thinking about buying a Harbor Freight mini changer, but for $60, I'll give the manual way a shot. Thanks for the refresher course.
@@matthewshelton1403 I did not, but I've seen girls do it on YT. One tire would have been all right, but four, I don't think so. I found someone downtown who only charged $10 a tire. I thought 40 was better than 70. It's like the internet, keep searchin' searchin' searchin'. You'll find a better price for the same thing if you keep searching.
Cory, that was a very handy Utube Vid!!! Had to install new back tire on rider mower and fought the thing til was blue in the face, tried every angle, Vicegrips, the whole mess. Gave up and decided to have one of the "South of the Border used tire shops put it on. When in popped a cold one and like magic I found your video. When back out to shop and in 10 minutes had the new tire on the wheel and aired up.
Man...you make it look so easy...cool detail with the cigarette...makes your work that more nonchalant as if youre not even trying...thanks for the help with your video
AWESOME!!! Bought a new tire for my minibike (1970 sears bike frame) and it uses 4.10x3.50-6 size tires. I am going to try the awesome ether tire mounting method! It will be my first time mounting a tubeless tire!!!
Hey Listen, I know it's an old video but man help out a lot. I work at a trailer tire company and we mount tires by the hundreds a day, so you can imagine the amount of defective we get. And now I can salvage some on the small lawnmower tires we have just lying around. Thanks
Hey! Struggled for days, trying to mount (2) 15 x 6.00 2 ply. Watched 10-15 videos. Bought tire changer from HF. Nada. Watched this vid, step by step. And without help- 30 mins for both..... All hail the sultan of lawn mower tire mounting!
I was fighting like hell with them. I came in and watched this video, went back out and had the new tires on in a flash! I didn't have any luck with the starting fluid though. I used rachet straps to seat the bead. Great great video, THANK YOU!!
David Patterson , Thaks for watching! Glad I could help bud ! To bad the starting fluid trick didn't work for ya.... sometimes you've gotta try more then once !
Nice video. I've fought these things quite a few times on small equipment and wheelbarrows. I pretty much do it like you showed . I have a couple tiny C -clamps that hold the partial bead in place when I am alone so I can work the other side. I don't like the fire method, so run a hold-down strap around the perimeter of the tire, winch tight and add 15-20 lbs of pressure, too much and it's hard to get the strap off.
Exactly... Just went through HELL taking off an Old Cub Cadet front tire today . no way you would break the bead with your Fists on an older dry tire . Thinking of making a Set up for the hydraulic Press to break the bead by pushing on both sides next time.
@jefffromjersey52 yeah, the old fist trick didn't work. I had to stand on it to break it loose. To get it back on the rim, I put pressure on it with my knees and used the screwdriver. Tires are 2 yrs old.
So I tried using a ratchet strap to get it on the rim then the guy helping me knew this trick but he said starter fluid not brake clean and the tire caught on fire twice then we watched this video and it worked the first time thank you
Tried it! It was going to take an act of God to break the bead ( I’m 270 and standing on it didn’t break it)and since my helper was concerned about breaking a nail, I paid ten bucks and had a pro do it. This tire won the day.
I have never seen a tire come off the rim so easy. I use a long 2x4 lever hooked under the bumper of my truck with the tire on the ground and the right length block between the lever and the tire. It can be awkward, two people can do it more easily. I use soapy water to soak in and get the bead broken but then use any brand of shortening, (Crisco) to lube the tire bead and the rim to remove the tire from the rim and reinstall. Soapy water seems to cause rust on the rim. Once the bead is broke, the tire comes off by hand with the Crisco.
Just changed my inner tube on my tiller. Used three 6 inch C clamps to hold tire from popping back out since I didn't have extra hands. Lubricated tire bead with P B Blaster penetrating oil. Pry with screw driver and placed clamp to keep tire from getting back over the rim. Worked great took about 15 mins.
Now THAT is a smart answer!!! Two 20cm C clamps. But where the fuck do I find those? I will look further - took the advice of chatgpt and made very thing soapy and now can't hold a thing in place. hHat a bitch of a job.
I bought a new tire to replaced the cracked up one (got tired [no pun intended] of trying to remove so I cut it off). Several swear words later, I got the new rubber on the hub. Wish I had a helper...but, I did find out that I can throw that anvil a LOT further than I thought! haha Going to try this guy's trick for the resealing.
I just spent 2 hours trying to get the rim back into a new tire. 20 to 30 minutes to get one side of the rim in. Then 90 minutes of extreeme colorful language and very liberal use of my sentience enhancers, I walked away. Now I caught your video and will go back at it. And let me say this- the brake fluid. That is genius.
Megagig , glad I could help and starting fluid works to anything flammable, don't spray to much though. And don't get discouraged if it doesn't pop on the first try, that's why I recommend something highly combustible.
I got it to work :) Worked on first try with the small front tire. The two large rear tires did take a couple of try's but worked great! I only have a tiny compressor so I had it hooked up and going pumping air as it sealed. I had the same brake clean. I noticed it evaporates quick so you gotta be kinda fast lol but all worked great. Thanks again!
This IS THE BEST tire install video because he shows you a GREAT and NECESSARY trick to get those pesky tires to seal with the brake cleaner fluid when you have my luck. My tire wouldn't even begin to seal with the tie-down trick. This video is Boss!
I don't want to meet you in a dark alley with those hands and forearms! I have always been told I don't know my own strength, but I cannot break a tire bead. I now have my mentor in sight. 😨
I have to say I had 2 tire irons but using 2 quick clamps as well made all the difference. Using 2 (300 lb) heavy duty quick clamps to clamp the tire down to the edge of my table was a huge help in getting the rim off and out of the tire.
Thanks for a great video. I was about to send myself to a tire shop and ashamed I could not get the darn tire on. Using brute force and fists did the trick.
great video thank you I have a huge compressor to get the tire to seat, but if I didn't... I Love the brake clean idea.Thank you for taking your time to make this video.
You can also use a ratchet strap around the center of the tire to push the sidewalls out to seat to the rim if you cant or dont want to do the brake clean trick
Richard Thoma , thanks for watching! Yes ratchet trick does work but after multiple failed attempts trying the ratchet trick. I reverted to the combustible method! Much quicker lol....
Casslakekillaz you can fill a 5 gallon bucket with water the plug the axle shaft, place the tire and rim over the bucket. Valve stem up, push down on the tire to seal against the bucket, the tire will be against the top side bead area. Put air to it and it blows air into the contained area between the water and the tire and fills the tire till the bead seats.
Nice demonstration... very helpful. A ratchet strap around the outside is a great way to mount this kind of tire. I'm a little afraid of blowing my nutsack off using the explosive method...
Thanks!!! Got that job ahead of me!!! One GIGANTIC screwdriver and your imagination!!!!!! LOL...and a small explosion!!! How did you ever figure that trick out....looked like a certain Darwin moment!!! Fantastic!!!
I spent 7 years in the NAVY on submarines got hurt on one lost use of my legs I used to use the brake fluid on car tires . Thanks for on how to get it off . Even my 2 local time places want 10 bucks to remove the tire from the rim
ncrdisabled Submarine vet , Thank you for your service Sir ! Without people like you this country wouldn't be what it is.... Glad i Could be of any help for Veteran ! The combustible method has been around for a long time right ? Works good if you know what you're doing.... Hope my video helped you ! Take care Bud.
Bro my dad and I been struggling for years trying to get a deflated tires on rims. You’re a life savor idk how many videos I’ve watched that have wasted our time over the years. 👍🏼
I found if you go over to harbor freight they have a mini tire. Machine. Works great for discounting tires and it works pretty good for putting them back on. The only thing I can say is when I put them on I put a ratchet strap around the center of the tire crank it down that opens up the hole bigger and makes his hair slide on a lot easier next time. Maybe you should try that
If you're tossing the tire try this: cut the tire all the way around through the sidewall on both sides with a sharp knife - this basically removes the tread. Then unseat the bead (can still be difficult) and cut perpendiular to the two circles of rubber that remain using a knife and a dremel tool where the tire meets the rim (there's usually metal wire in here). I tried every technique on youtube and this method could have saved me hours of blood, sweat and tears.
Pinch a set of vice grips to opposing sides of the rims, on the lips-- then use two flat screwdrivers ..I lubricate with cutting oil. Remove tire with a sawzall, bulk cutter and nipper.
Boy, if you young and strong Nice Video but, if you old like me, only I can do is bite the tires. And now, I know why I got no teeth! Love the video, you make it look so easy!
While the starting fluid works and makes a great video, a ratchet strap wrapped around the tire along the tread will hold the bead tight against the rim and allow the air to inflate the tire.
@@donaldshimkus539 You can have fun going to the ER where they might be able to save you limbs or life OR you can live a boring life of installing tires like a sane person. Hmmm I think there are lots of better ways to have fun.
Great video. I mounted lug tires on my Craftsman LT2000 what a nightmare. Took me nearly 8hrs., but was not going to give up. After baking the tire in the 95 degrees sun for an hour, the rubber got soft enough to slip over the rim. What is embarrassing is that it took me so long to think of leaving the tire in the sun.
I have never seen a tire blown up to set the bead. BAM! Loved it. I think you said you were spraying brake fluid, but I think you meant starting fluid/ether? Great video. Thanks!
H. Hall , hey thanks hope it helps! Anything highly combustible works ! Brake fluid is just what I had handy. Doesn't always work on the first try but is the most affective method I've used to quickly get it done. The straps and other ways just seem like a hassle to me.
