In men, hair often begins to recede from the forehead.
Male-pattern baldness
Women tend to lose hair along the part.
Female-pattern baldness
Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata) is sometimes preceded by itchy or painful scalp.
Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata)
Repeated stress on the hair can cause a type of hair loss called traction alopecia.
Traction alopecia
t's becoming increasingly common for menopausal women to experience frontal fibrosing alopecia, in which the hairline moves back.
Frontal fibrosing alopecia
Hair loss can appear in many different ways, depending on what's causing it. It can come on suddenly or gradually and affect just your scalp or your whole body.
Signs and symptoms of hair loss may include:
Gradual thinning on top of head. This is the most common type of hair loss, affecting people as they age. In men, hair often begins to recede at the hairline on the forehead. Women typically have a broadening of the part in their hair. An increasingly common hair loss pattern in older women is a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia).
Circular or patchy bald spots. Some people lose hair in circular or patchy bald spots on the scalp, beard or eyebrows. Your skin may become itchy or painful before the hair falls out.
Sudden loosening of hair. A physical or emotional shock can cause hair to loosen. Handfuls of hair may come out when combing or washing your hair or even after gentle tugging. This type of hair loss usually causes overall hair thinning but is temporary.
Full-body hair loss. Some conditions and medical treatments, such as chemotherapy for cancer, can result in the loss of hair all over your body. The hair usually grows back.
Patches of scaling that spread over the scalp. This is a sign of ringworm. It may be accompanied by broken hair, redness, swelling and, at times, oozing.
When to see a doctor
See your doctor if you are distressed by persistent hair loss in you or your child and want to pursue treatment. For women who are experiencing a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia), talk with your doctor about early treatment to avoid significant permanent baldness.
Also talk to your doctor if you notice sudden or patchy hair loss or more than usual hair loss when combing or washing your or your child's hair. Sudden hair loss can signal an underlying medical condition that requires treatment.
People typically lose 50 to 100 hairs a day. This usually isn't noticeable because new hair is growing in at the same time. Hair loss occurs when new hair doesn't replace the hair that has fallen out.

What a brave chap. Done this myself a little and does help 🙂 But please lordhair and other companies 🙏 Make more non custom hair systems light density I'm sure 80% above the age off 25 needs this 😀 Great to have your feedback on this 👍 welcome back. Your support and journey is much appreciated 🙏

What percentage would you say is ideal for 25+ year olds? 80%?

So this video was super helpful. I just got my first system and I love it at some angles, but it’s the density I don’t like! Thank you for showing me the techniques, this is exactly what’ll what I needed. I often hear plucking the hairline is the move but what you did looks like it worked well.

Geez, this was frustrating to watch. My advice is to get yourself a mannequin head (one specifically used for wigs with a smooth latex surface or equivalent, not the white foam types) and attach the system to that for the cut. Also, there are different kinds of thinning shears that take more or less hair depending on how many grooves there are. You don't say what you're using. You NEVER cut the hair at right angles, but rather always at a 45 degree angle when thinning and NEVER twist the hair (where in the world did you find that?) but rather in combed sections.

I agree with you. Could you provide a video with proper technique?

Thinning shears at sallys and/ or tweezers..tons of vids online how to thin out the hair line properly.you dont have to twist either..you can just go in and thin out those mushroom head areas. I used to do that but over the years I just go for the wet look until the hair starts to thin out from wear and tear. Be careful not to thin out too much because when you style it you dont want it to look too thin. With the hairline tweezers is best so if you wear it up you can see some scalp through the hair and yes every hairline has broken hairs, etc in thé front. Hair looks better when you mess it up versus too perfect of a style. No one is looking super close at the middle and back of head so I disagree-thinning shears will work on too dense hair, especially on lace systems where all of the knots are bleached. It is more difficult to style and make dense pièces look natural but it can be done.its also very draining especially if its like 6 am and youre just waking up on one or 2 coffees and have to get to work. This is why I shampoo my hair at night semi prestyle before bed

Hey Jake, I suggest you use some hair clips and do each section so you don't double cut an area because you're picking up here and picking up there I think it would be better if you use like a duck clip push it back. We also use Velcro strips now that would work.

Have you tried taking off the system and then using tiny dots of Nair on a toothpick on the underside of the lace or the poly? I’ve done that when it just needs minimal thinning. I wear the units a long time (poly) for many 16-day cycles, so they tend to thin out on their own. I’m also starting to notice a difference with how Remy euro hair will fall and lay against other hairs vs heavily processed Indian or Asian hair that has had the follicle removed. The processed Asian hair will tend to get a lot “fuzzier” and thicker volume because the hairs are just interacting with each other in a different way than Remy Euro hair.

Asian hair also comes as "remy", follicle removed.

I believe thinning shears are a necessity for realism. Natural bio hair grows at different rates and speed so, having random "shorter" hairs on a system is more natural looking. Great job!

Hi Jake, completely agree with thinning to add more realism. But probably not as confident to perform as you are. What density would you recommend on Lord website to give enough depth but thin enough to add that realistic less obvious touch?

IF YOU HAVE THIN SKIN BASE: Don't use thinning shears. Get a hole punch set and use the 1.9mm (5/64th") and use a small hammer and hole punch on the inside of the unit. Works perfectly!

Generally: punch the holes about 1" apart in a random pattern.

This was really good advice 💪🏻 this is gonna add some texture to your hair too. I'm a barber and I point cut with my thinning scissors and it works a treat.

So annoyed, I just got a system and they gave me super thick asian hair even when I told them I wanted more of a thinner system since I have thin hair and wanted something a little more European. But since I’m Asian they gave me the most thickest Asian system
