WOW!!! I have been putting off DJing with Ableton for YEARS after a few failed attempts at conceptualizing and mapping out how I want my live environment to work for me. I was finally INSPIRED TODAY to blow the dust off my XoneK2 and plug away at it. Your videos have been a huuuuuge help!! Then I look and see your last video was UPLOADED TODAY... Collective Intelligence... gotta love that synchronicity Anyway THANKS! now time for me to get to work
Thank you for everything you are doing Andrew! I thought learning Ableton would be such a pain in the hole, but thanks to your content, my learning has been exponential and actually a lot of fun. Hats off to you my guy. 🤘
Hey Collective Intelligence, Been following your uploads for a while. Your content is impeccable, not to mention its seamless delivery. Like you mentioned in your earlier uploads, how we are vessels passing on information we gather (still stuck with me!), I'm ready glad content providers like yourself, construct an all encompassing source and save us passive viewers from scouring dispersed information and doing the hard bit. Again, really appreciate your content, keep at it, looking forward for more technical stuff and Hello from India. PS: Noticed a Push at the back, would greatly appreciate you make some content on that too.
Great content Andrew :) Do you know of any way of bulk-warping a lot of tracks at the same time - or in a short time in Ableton / OR if there's some way of storing tempo information in wav files? I think it's possible with AIFF files? Also have you tried a DJ session with like 40 to 50 tracks, and what's your opinion on what's that is like? I think it's brilliant how you setup the Channel 1 and Channel 2. And configure your effects with your midi-device. Very inspiring creatively.
Loved this whole explanation and clarity! 1 question about the time slow effect?? is that done with autotuna max for live device? is there a lower latency alternative?
You could also just add multiple automations to one clip if you want to automate both at the same time and always together. Thanks for the video series! I've been producing with Ableton for 10 years, but just recently started thinking about how I could play my tracks live / DJ them with other's tracks as well...
Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge. But i can't figure it out, how i can to monitor cue master and not going mono for crowd? Also, did you try link traktor and ableton?
You rock! Thanks for the great tutorials. Perhaps I missed it, but in video 2 you mentioned that you can put effects on the individual channels. Do you have a video that teaches how to do that?
But how would you transition into a piece with a different tempo than the project tempo? If you don't want it to change the pitch, it would screw up the nudge function. Any tips?
Hi artist. I'd love to have that project for my own mixes. Is there a way to buy it or download it? If I become Patreon do I have access to that Project? Thanks a lot.
I'm curious as a beginner, why not just use a software like Traktor that has so much of the interface that you spend so much time building just baked straight into the software? Is it purely for the increased control that you have over Ableton?
Traktor is like normal knife, Ableton is like Swiss knife. Also Traktor and Ableton can work in pair. You can mix tracks in Traktor, then link it to Ableton. Ableton gets BPM and audio from Traktor and you can do anything you can only imagine with this audio. You can add fx, samples, midi tracks, live midi performance, vocals, or even live orchestra performance. So, DJing is just playing tracks, Abletoning is performing your music, arrangement, creativity and improvisation. Don't be only Dj, be artist.
I love your videos! but I low-key facepalmed myself when I saw you had a push board but you're still using the APC lol!... I'm not judging...just facepalmed that's all. Awesome videos!
