definitely a helpful tool for getting up the steep terrain! One thing you didn't talk much about Dan is when it is actually useful to apply while riding other then for show. Countless times this move has enabled me to continue on a climb that i either ran out of open available line and had to change direction or realize im not going to make the climb. Recognizing when to apply it in time to be effective is huge. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 "hopovers" to get up a certain section taking small bites upwards with every hopover. Awesome video! it would be cool if you did a part 2 to this explaining more on when and how to apply this move to gain elevation or work up and around terrain. Keep Videos like this one coming! maybe a bowtie how to next?!

I learned these on a stock 2017 gen4. That was a good sled for this because of the ski lift (similar to the khaos transfer) and low end snap. Now I’m on a stock Axys 850 163” with a tunnel cut. The cut tunnel plays a big role in how these are done! Bow ties (which start off just like a hop over) come around so much easier with the cut. With the tunnel cut I find myself needing to brake check when the sled hits the vertical position to drop the front otherwise it wants to bow tie. With the stock length tunnel it will drag or brake for you taking that element out if it. My favorite thing about both hop overs and bow ties is that you can now get an adrenaline rush from a normal hill that before could get boring just side hilling on! Great vid Dan! First one I’ve seen on the maneuver!

Hey Dan, towards the end of the video you mentioned suspension setup on a stock sled. I have a 2016 Pro with the stock Walker Evans with piggyback. Could you go over what setting is the best for trying the hop over? Or maybe do a video on suspension setups in general, like sidehilling, hard terrain, soft terrain etc. Thanks

All around great video Dan ! [And your camera guy was in just the right place to show the foot work. Extra cold beverage for him/her !] - How about a video that shows the foot work of an uphill turn. Same 180 uphill turn, but literally stepping through it (foot placement as you go around) ? (IMO - seems the perfect set up with a hop-over as the end target). and if you did this in a previous video and I missed it, please point me in the right direction. TIA !

Hi Dan! Really love your vids! I'm a mediocre rider on a stock Pro RMK 600 -14. Would you say it's hard to do an hopover with my machine, considering it's a 600cc? Or is it all about commitment and skill? Thanks from Sweden! /Thomas

Next Level Riding Clinics Thank for the quick reply! I mostly snowmobile in the up of Michigan so some days you’re sitting in 5-6 feet of powder on the side of a hill and other you only have a little over 8 inches so as I’m starting to transition from trail riding to boondocking it’s nice to have your tips.

Hi Dan, enjoying all of you videos, I have learned more watching you than I did riding for 60 years. I am riding a 2020 Khoas 800, it has been a bid of a learning curve, but I am getting there. I am about 5' 6 135 lbs, short arms, I have always had trouble with hard pack spring snow trying to side hill with the machine flat on the snow, and the throttle is down hill. Would it help to shorten my handlebars? Or any suggestions. Also I have a strange problem you may have encountered. My new Klim snowmobile boots size 10, get stuck in my snowmobile when ever I fall off toward the back of the sled. I was side hilling in deep powder, steep side hill, sled hit branch machine flipped down hill with my foot stuck in the up hill pocket. It was ugly. My boot just fits the opening for your foot and the bottom of the sled is very grippy, boot is stiff and just won't come out. Is this just me or has this ever happened to anyone else? Thinking about wax on the boot? Thanks for your good work. Scott Kalispell, Mt. If you ever want to do a video in my area I would be glad to show you around.

Excellent video Dan! This video clarified a few things for me. Would you say a sled with a light front end feel like a Khaos would be easier to do a hop over with or would something more predictable like a RMK be ideal?
@jannelakkapaa6057
@jannelakkapaa6057 4 года назад
Khaos will do these better than Pro. Khaos has more pressure in the front of the skid and less pressure on skis so it will wheelie more. 155 Pro with clutching and loose limiter strap will do hop overs quite easily but too loose limiter strap risks your rails going through the track
@NextLevelRidingClinics
@NextLevelRidingClinics 4 года назад
Like Janne said comparing stock for stock a Khaos should easier as it likes to lift the skis more than a Pro.
