Almost halfway into my first year of PhD and nobody elaborated on how to go through lit review. It started to seem like an umfathomable task, but you make it seem so logical and straight-forward! I made some of the steps intuitively, but now I have a method. Thank you so much for this
I recently watched a video by Holly studies and her main message was that all lit reviews are different and there's so many ways to go about it so I highly recommend checking out her recent video
God it's so so helpful!!! I'm gonna cry!! I've suffering from and lost in reading those papers for like a year and could not find the way to organize and extract the points from them, and I keep thinking that why I'm here keeping myself being so painful and frustrated. But now I think I got some motivation when I found this video. Thank you so much for sharing this!
I am SO pleased to have found you!! Your videos are tremendously helpful! I have struggled under lockdown for literally months trying to get a handle on my process and this has been just what I've needed! Thank you!!
It is my first time doing a literature review. Although I was a very careful listener in the lecture, I was so confused about how to actually structure it. Thank you so much for such detailed explanation.
Thank you so much for this video. I am so happy to have found you, because I am approaching my 6th month in my PhD and have been kind of lost most of this time. Thank you
Thanks for the detailed explanation. I really appreciate the time that you spent on this. It’s so useful and pain free. Thanks for sharing. All the best
I love to see the spontaneity and when you paused it enables me to think what you have just said. When you typed, i really felt that your talk is some kind of hands- on for me :).. Anyway, thank you so much PhD and Productivity for all of the contents. they're really helpful.

I wish I had more thumbs to give up cos that was another excellent video! In regard to around 11:20, I for one would love to see you perform an actual search to locate, save or reject papers (I hope that's not too elementary a request).
Hi Ciara, Really useful video - thanks! A couple of questions for you: 1. When you are searching for papers on one subtopic but you see a paper that you know will be relevant to another subtopic, do you ignore it expecting to find it when you end up searching for the other subtopic, or do you add it to your mendeley? 2. A lot of people use excel sheets to catalogue papers and notes, do you ever do this? 3. How do you remember which papers to cite for your points?
1. I usually add it to mendeley but don't read it at the time 2. Yes I do use the spreadsheets at time to track notes for different papers 3. I use a reference manager - bibtex and I use the above spreadsheet
I loved this first video I came across made by you! Thanks for creating this, and I hope you'll keep creating new content for graduate students. I had a few questions relating to this topic: 1. At what point do you get feedback from your supervisor during this process? Do you share your subtopics questions with them? The main points? Or do you wait until you've gotten a first draft of your paragraphs before sharing? 2. How many papers do you usually find is adequate to address one subtopic? 3. How much time do you usually spend doing the literature review for one subtopic?
Hey there, welcome to the channel. 1. I would share the skeleton of the review first so how you plan to organise it,. and then I would share for each broad topic. 2. it really can't be quantified. I suppose the answer is you need to find all of them and then decide which are really relevant. 3. It really depends on how many papers there are etc. but overall the review takes a couple of months and will depend on whether you're working on other things at the same time which I did so 1/2 the day on lit review 1/2 the day on a project.
I am presently trying to conduct a stand-alone literature review and I don't even know where and how to start. I want more practice structure sort of...but your start off is quite useful. Thanks
hi there, thanks for the information you have provided here. How long should it take a person to complete their literature review from start to end?. thanks
It really depends on the topic how much literature is available, as well depending on what else you are doing at the same time so for me I was working on different projects too so a couple of months.
Which word version you are using please. I am third year PhD student in the field of learner autonomy, actually I am lost I have written nothing yet...I am a failure I guess

The content of your video is good but your presentation is poor. Suggestions: (a) The first 2 minutes of your video should be removed. Get to the point of your video in the first few sentences. (b) You talk as if you are not sure of what you want to say. It is difficult to follow what you are saying when you keep stopping to think. (c) Don’t type and talk. Use large letters already typed, and just explain. Power Point could be useful. I write this not to criticize but suggest improvements to your videos.
