I remember a youtuber girl posted a video of an old school muay thai practitioner who was in his old age. And the way he does it is exactly like this. It's so different from how i first learned it. I tried to look for the video again to see if I got closer to that style, but till now couldn't find it. Nevertheless, I find you doing presenting it, so I appreciate it greatly. Thanks man
I was always curious about the arms/upper body movement when doing a Muay Thai kick, mines always ended up looking more like a kickboxing style kick. This was a helpful tutorial thank you 🙏
Lol been doing Muay Thai for almost 4 months… this has helped me so much with my body kicks. I got too comfy with alligator whipping my leg and stuck to that. This helps a lot. Thnx
@@jassimarsingh6505 Lmao sure i Will, lmao ile post next week on Monday I have practice on Monday ile send a clip of how you actually do it or you can watch PADWORK VIDEOS IR ACUALL FIGHTERS THAT DO IT RETARD BUT SURE
Perhaps that right hand movement could incorporate a feint cross then used to power the kick in the same motion 🤔 (a kickboxing thought). Thanks for this excellent breakdown 👊🏾
The I've trained muay thai and never Deen ppl chop with the hand at the bag usually its used toput power into ur kick and u chop at ur side but what do I know
Whatever way it gets your hips to rotate and your shoulder to pop. Across the face also blocks punches, down the side seems to be more natural for balance.
I can’t generate as much power without dropping my lead hand. How do you generate as much power without dropping the hand thats blocking and bringing it back up?
Does anyone know a good way to practice this if you don't have a kicking bag to test it on? I've been trying to learn Muay Thai at home (I'm not sure if I have any nearby gyms, but my mom doesn't want to spend the money on them either and I'm unsure if it'd be proper Muay Thai or an Americanized version of it), but it's tough to know if your techniques are effective or properly landing without someone to tell you or even a bag to test them out on.
I studied under master Chai in the 80s , you can google him for the 99% of the people who don’t know him. Yes you can circle your arm to get more power but that happens just before you pivot the foot to create a ball and chain reaction from your kicking leg. I would not overcommit that hand, it takes away the eye gouge that will do far more damage then the kick.
the pivot on the kick is the hardest shit ever, and i hate to step in a pivot before throwing a kick thats not directed to strike the leg, super tiring, tips???????????????????????
Putting the arm across the face blocks your vision and telegraphs no? I don’t claim to be a Muay Thai expert but just from experience I feel this wouldn’t be a great movement to do?
The arm is to block potential counter strike to the kick, and it actually doesn’t block your vision. Your kick actually would travel so fast and it actually doesn’t give much away. Look up a few Thai fights and you will see what I meant.
I tried Mauy Thai, and I couldn't stop kicking the bag and making the impact right at the ankle joint on top of my foot . And I drive commercially so pain in my ankles for my bad habits. I stopped real quick . I like most striking art's . My main art is poison hand's training . Everything is MMA or Tang So Do which MMA is for the young . So, BJJ is big in my area, and the club I'm looking at offers kickboxing . I rather sweep, trip, and throw than kick . If I were to kick, it would definitely be from the waistline, down to the ankles . The club integrates Judo, Sambo, and American wrestling with the Bjj and catch wrestling as well . So I'm thinking boxing down the road about 6 months into the club . I'm not interested in doing tournaments at any level . I'm learning strictly for self-offense . Due to there no self-defense laws in my state . So once you hit back, you get arrested as well . No fought of your own . I guess the state I live in they would rather you get hurt and do nothing but call the cops and nothing done for you in either direction even if the true person that started all the b.s.gets arrested or not . Screw that !
