I have learned how to fold Khmer traditional outfit from one of the priest, Khmer priest who lived in Thailand. Mostly Cambodia do not share how the instruction online about Four years ago. Thai is very loyal. I mastered it.
Funny. These sabai are Thai Ayutthayan traditional dresses. Khmer got influenced by Thai wedding studio just for recent decades imported from Thai a lot until modern days they presumed and falsely claimed these are theirs. Khmer called these wedding dress but no these are thai tradtional dress of Thai royal lords influenced by Ayutthayan and Bangkok through the post Angkor Khmer as Siam colonial for hundreds of years
Thais are from southern China. I doubt they originally wore what they wear today. Thanks to thai for being inspired by khmer culture and keeping it alive while khmer suffered a genocide. But its time that khmers show off what is originally ours. You nolonger have to thai to the world.

@@iamvictoria99 It's because Khmer people watched Thai famous drama ( love destiny ) and they're crazy for Thai dress so they forgot their own Sompot 🤭 You know ,you can do some research, since the camera was made, there were pictures of Thai royal family that was taken back that time. They wore Sbai .We have many evidence that Thai dress belong to us. How about you Khmer?

Read Du Royaume de Siam written by Simon de La Loubère, a french diplomat who travelled to Ayuthaya kingdom 500 years ago , he wrote everything he saw in Ayuthaya and he described that rich Siamese women wore Sbai. Now his diary is one of the most famous historical book that people around the world knows except for Khmers 😂 and oh don't tell me that Angkorean people wore this kind of dress 1000 year ago because people around the world read Zhou Daguan's reccord, a chinese diplomat who travelled to Angkor Empire 1000 year ago , he wrote everything he saw in Angkor Empire and he described how ancient Khmer dressed that " both men and women were topless" but they had their pants... Duh ! But then again of course how does Khmer know it since their education is poor they don't even know Zhou Daguan right ? while people around the world knows him.

It's very ridiculous that some people from a country who knows nothing about the dress claims it is theirs. They don't even know how to make those fabrics and many times they bought the whole set of the costume from Thailand's market. However, they still dare say this is their own culture and blame the real owner as theft. Senseless.

Can you explain to me how a small culture that came from south china would dress this way? Ill tell you its called influence under the Khmer Empire. I guess when the mind is closed so is the eyes . Completely blind just close the eyes to comment. If you look closely you will see Thai and Khmer dresses are different in design and materials. And if khmers were to wear thai dresses it would be only for fun because it cheap to buy. Khmer dresses are hand made and very expensive. So if you don’t want some khmers to wear your dresses made by Thai then you shouldn’t make it cheap and sell it on ebay 😂. Thai dresses are not pleated this way its pleats are sewn and only a few layers not many layers like this. People that copy tend to take the easy way to wear because they are not too passionate about it.
literally, thai people have their OWN way of wrapping it too. it’s a whole different style. actual cambodian fabrics and thai fabrics look different, the designs are different. so stop being salty and just enjoy the fact that thai and khmer people still dress up like this and want to learn. if you don’t like khmer people then don’t interact with them 😐

Making baseless and brainless claims of ownership without any evidence can only be seen as plagiarism. Having just one ancient item does not automatically entitle ownership over the creations of others built upon that same foundation.

When Thai people try to provide evidence they can only go as far back as 1400ish when Siam took over Khmer, but prior to that there is no proof on Thais part that their culture was of any significant during the Khmer Empire, only what is known is that Thais are a small culture from southern China . But there are carvings on stone that khmer people practiced customs and wore certain thing during their time. So you accusing that Khmer is practicing cultural plagiarism is a statement without reference. It’s one thing to be patriotic of your country, but it’s also important to acknowledge the fact that Thais acquired Khmer Ancestral land and also practiced Khmer culture in the process. So indeed you have no right to say what you said. It just spread hate between nation and is an effort to change history that has already been written. So how does that make you look? I think everyone has a brain, but not many are fair and truthful in their way of thinking. I’m sure Khmers wouldn’t want to/can claim anything without solid evidence. We are not those types of culture. And we are not a culture that practices the desire to want something that is not ours. We will however fight till the end of our lives to preserve and protect what is rightfully ours.
