IT'S TUTORIAL THURSDAY!!!
Sooooo today I share a variation of an Afro-Beat that I do on Congas... The clip you saw was from a concert I played for with Sonnie Badu in a "Afro Praise" chain... So much fun and so much joy to play this pattern.

2 years of lessons.I only can say thanks.here are a lot of work.for me this Channel is a treasure,(tesoro,no sé si lo escribí bien)the patterns are amazing.I only have 2 or 3 for learn.the resources are great tools.for me the best Channel for learn congas.is great that beginners,intermediated and advanced congueros haves things to learn here.Congratulations Eric.

These conga skins are just perfect. I love AfroBeat. I tried a variation changing the ghost note for a second open tone on the quinto, giving the open note on beats 2½ and 4½. Thanks, very nice rhythm.

Eric, I love all of your videos and learn so much... Although I must say that this is not afrobeat this if actually a fusion of afrobeats and Zouk/Soukus which are respectively popular Nigerian pop/hip-hop and Camaroonean popular music. Afrobeat is the genre developed by Fela Kuti and Tony Allen which is very different, check out their work along with TP Orchestre Poly-rhythmo, Ebo Taylor etc... Seun and Femi Kuti... Much Love brother.

Eric, great Afro-beat rhythm. Nice additional variation to the repertoire. Your expertise and innovation always seem to stimulate our hunger for more knowledge. Just out of curiosity, would you also be respectfully familiar with other similar rhythms, such as, the following: Abacua for two and three congas, Bembe, Rumba Obatala, Rumba Abierta, and perhaps a Brazilian "Bossa Nova and some Samba Grooves"? Keep the videos coming they're great! Thanks for your hard work and efforts. We really appreciate it.

Nice! There's not a lot of conga tutorials for afrobeat out there! Please consider the Flamenco Buleria. There's tons on cajon for it, but not a lot of instruction for congas. It's a mother*🤬 to learn. 12 beat rhythm that starts on the 12?!

Awesome! Yeah, the Bulerias are so intense and beautiful. Traditionally the only percussion was the Palmas. Then, cats began playing congas, and udus to accompany the soloists, as the music began to fuze. Now that cajon has taken over, there is not a lot of instruction on flamenco for congas out there.

Dig your content and approach. That synthy track’s melody you were playing to kind of sounded like “One Day” by Matisyahu, especially with the melody/patten you were adding.

I'd change the open on the third conga, for an open on the quinto in front of you, then you need a good muffled tone on the quinto to replace the current open tone there. That's a bit like playing Songo on two congas (one of the Songo rhythms anyway).
