I totally get that this method might be a bit controversial. Some people truly do enjoy folding laundry and having neat and tidy drawers - so much respect for that. By skipping the folding step, I have finally gotten my laundry under control, and really, the only right way to do something is the way that works best for you! Thanks for watching!

Dang I wish I knew this method when my girls were small! Also you finally convinced me that it's ok not to have decor pillows on my bed 😃 I now make my bed everyday without feeling bad that it's not "pretty" . I use a nice quilt and it looks " good enough" 🧡 I enjoy all your videos

I really want to make myself give this a try. I get stuck in the ‘perfection or not at all’ mindset. All my drawers are perfectly folded and neat as a pin but half empty because there are baskets of clean clothes in every corner of the house just waiting for me 😩

Richelle Nolan I totally agree about not having loads of pillows & cushions on the bed. I’ve never understood why some people have so many. I would find it a pain to take them all off the bed every night, especially when I’m tired.

Lol. Just folded my kids laundry while I watched this. It’s been a game changer for me to wash laundry grouped by the room in which it belongs. Then bring the basket of clean laundry immediately to the room to sort or fold straight into the drawers so that I don’t leave little piles of clean laundry everywhere.

I do something similar by washing only pants, only shirts, only pajamas, etc. One type of hanger or fold makes quick work.

Love!! This is exactly what I do at my house now. Learned it from the MinimalMom channel. I gave up the old fashioned method almost a year ago and it has been a game changer!! My mom was a laundry nazi and it was sooo hard for me to give in and stop the useless folding, but now that I have, there is no going back😁 my husband thinks this is very odd, and he still folds if he does a load, but I say to each his or her own. My time is too precious to spend it on laundry. Keeping clothes and towels minimal makes it easier too!! My 4yo and 8yo both put away their own clothes( that required about a week of training). Also, if you each have your own basket, you can wash loads according to person 1x a week and that makes sorting a breeze. Your clean load goes back in your basket and off to your bedroom. Hope that makes sense. Have a blessed weekend!🙌

My SO is a very untidy person. He will rarely help with housework. I started to fold and hang his clothes SO BADLY on purpose, so it started to annoy him. One day he just said: "Please just put my laundry on the bed, i will put it away myself." Because he thinks that Im unable to do it and I think thats genius 😂

I love how you have made your system work for you!! I have always folded absolutely everything. A few years ago my teenage daughter suggested that we don't fold our rags but just put them in a bin in the cupboard instead. I was pretty much mortified with the thought of it but I okayed it because at that point she was in charge of most of the folding so I wanted to give her a little break. I absolutely love doing it that way now! I've come along a little bit further and now I don't fold my little girl's underwear anymore. LOL! Maybe I'll try to leave a few more things unfolded. :-)

I love this, well part of this. I've been konmari-ing for about 6 months and I'm basically over it because my husband is 6'7" and built like a footballer and trying to konmari his clothes is exhausting. I think konmari works for small clothes/people. I've been thinking for the last two months that I need to hang everything, so as soon as hibernation stops I'm lifting the hanging space up and making another rod underneath for all his clothes.

Love it😜 We do ours very similarly. With socks, we keep it simple by having 1 color for each age..... so there's NO MATCHING! ....just throw them in the draw and they can grab a pair super easy even tho they arent "matched". Noone is having to pre-match and losing a sock to make a pair doesn't exist anymore😉

My kids are my laundry put awayers. The oldest is 9 and he’s in charge but my 6 yo is getting just as good. The 3 yo does what she can. They put away everything after I fold it. Since I’ve been doing a load a day it’s really not that time consuming. I hang all shirts, including the kids’, and my husband likes his pants hung. I have no dressers in my room and my 3 kids share one. All our socks and underwear goes in bins on shelves. The best laundry time saver I ever did was throw out all my boys’ socks. I went and bought 3 packs of the same Hanes socks (they are the same size.) No more hunting pairs of socks since they all match. Because the kids are responsible for putting it all away they wouldn’t dare pull it all out to mess it up. Lol.

I do this exact same thing! I do all of the work in the laundry room too, but the only thing I do different is I have 2 smaller size baskets (about half the size of your big white on you have) and I put them at the foot of the dryer to do my sorting as things come out. As I take things out of the dryer, I set my hang up items aside and then sort all of the laundry by adults/kids into the smaller baskets. I then hang up all the hang up clothes at once and take the sorted baskets to their rooms. It has made my life so much easier!!

I swiftly moved to not ironing my kids clothes as my sons would rummage for their favourite t shirt and everything would end up crumpled 🤦‍♀️after that I did like you, I just dumped it straight in the drawer and I if anything needed ironing (school shirts, or my girl's dresses) I would iron the night before, but half the time the boys stuff didn't need ironing! Thank you for a great channel. No folding is a great point. To my mother's horror I don't fold my underwear. I truly see no point but to each his own. I do have some order in my drawers despite because I just put it in a box in the drawer (underwear, socks, and stockings). Shoe boxes a great for this! I wanted to add that you can do the post washing sorting easier by using laundry bags. You could have one for the children's underwear and one for socks. It's much much easier to sort when it's already collected. Also I practice the 'direct sorting method' essentially this means that I don't have additional laundry bags in my home. I only have the sorting station so things can just get washed straight from the bin. I know this might not be feasible for small kids but maybe they can learn to put their socks and underwear in the small bag hanging next the laundry bag. Or maybe they can learn to take the laundry to the laundry room and sort it when they have been bathed. I had to train myself in the habit of not just dumping laundry wherever but it's a really nice anti-clutter-habit to fall into.

I like this & am going to recommend it to some friends. It kind of depends on your lifestyle and the kinds of clothes you need to wear - except for now during virus-lockdown, I work in an office full time and need clothes that are a little more dressy. But for knockaround clothes, your method is great! When I was young, a friend's mom shared a tip with me, to wash clothes inside out & leave them that way until you wear them - that way, you know if it's the first or second wear for that sweater, t-shirt, pair of jeans, etc. It's a bit like the "turn your clothes hangars backwards to tell if something has been worn" strategy. Kon Mari doesn't work for my t-shirts because I can't tell them apart in the drawer: they're all navy blue & just have different designs on them, LOL. Thanks Steph!

Totally love it. I do this since I saw the minimal mom talk about it. We have an IKEA kallax shelf wich works perfectly for us since it has four cubbys in a row and the kids have one book for pants, one for sweaters, one for shirts and one for the things they will wear again underwear is in a drawer beside it and pyjamas in a bathroom drawer. Since then they are easier able to pick out their own clothes and also put them away themselves. Before it meant I had to refold half the things. It saves me so much time, energy and good mood. I just dump everything on the bed while they change into their pyjamas and we are done so quickly. With three kids I don't get by with one load a day. I do one load of clothes a day and sheets and towels are extra. Also sheets are more than one load for us. Even when I don't do all the beds on one day. I wonder if my washing machine is smaller. We do not wash everything everyday and I wonder how others get by with less loads.

Woot! First at 5mins. 💕 So I totally agree that most clothes won't have wrinkles when they're not folded. BUT I've minimized enough to have only 6 outfits for each of my children; as in a top and coordinating bottom. SO I do need to fold in order to have a top & bottom to easily grab. My oldest two are 9 and 7 and they fold and put away their matches. My youngest two are 4 and 2 so it's easy to have an outfit for them (or daddy) to grab. My laundry schedule: M sheets T rags and towels W children's clothes Th cloth diapers F mine and my husband's clothes Sat cloth diapers And yes, we have such little clothes and rewear things two days in a row that all those things fit into one load! 🙌🏻

When a load comes out of the drier, I fold and put away the towels right away, and then I sort the clothes into the baskets. I hang my shirts and will fold and put away my husband’s stuff if his baskets get too full, but I never fold the kids stuff. They just dig through their baskets and find what they want to wear, and get dressed right in the laundry room. It’s like a family closet. It works for us!

Kids and baby clothes get cleaner (spilled food, mud etc) if you turn right side out before washing. If you are doing it anyways it's better do before putting in the washing machine. I have 3 little kids as well (5, 3 and 4 months) and I don't fold a lot of it either :) So quick and since it is so quick it's less tempting to put it off.

I guess it depends how you store your clothes! I don't have drawers, only shelves. If my things are not folded, they get lost in the back and can't see what I have. But I never fold underwear, so yeah.

I could totally do this when my kid is old enough to mess up his drawers lol and it makes so much sense to put up shirts! I was already doing sweaters.

Ahh I do this too! Underwear gym clothes and leggings don’t need to be folded! It’s better just chucked in the drawers than piling up corners of every room!! It’s all about us letting go of perfection and that time wasted folded can be devoted to precious time for yourself! Xx

I do no fold method and hang almost all my clothes. It keeps them dry and remove most wrinkles by the time I am ready to wear it.

I quit sorting. Now I do one person’s load at a time and a separate load for sheets and another separate load for towels. I don’t keep a lot of extra sheets or towels. I wash them, and put them back on the bed or bathroom towel racks. No folding needed. I don’t consider laundry complete until it’s put away. I usually do 4 loads per week. Every 3 months, I do an extra load for blankets. I hang shirts and pants. For my socks, I learned the habit of clipping them together with sock clips when I take them off and putting them in a large, mesh laundry bag that has a loop for hanging. I have command hooks on the back of my bedroom door that holds my mesh bags, and I just toss them in the sock mesh bag . I do the same with my bras-except no need to clip. I use a large, zippered lingerie laundry bag rather than a mesh bag for bras, so the hooks don’t snag on anything (Container Store or online purchase). I keep a wheeled square cart (with handle lowered) on the floor in my bedroom closet as my hamper. (Bought at Staples). My husband has one on his side of the closet also. My Laundry and Partial cleaning day is Friday. I toss my mesh bags of socks and bras into the hamper, pull up the handle, and wheel it to my Laundry Room. Afterwards, I hang up my shirts and pants in my closet, then I toss my socks, with clips still attached, into my sock drawer. If I have time, I fold my underwear, and put it in my underwear drawer. If I’m in a hurry, I just toss them in. Same with bras. In between Laundry loads, I set up my Roomba Vacuum Cleaner in each room, close the door, and let it run for 15 minutes per room. While that’s going, I sometimes dust flat surfaces in another room-or save the dusting for another day if I can’t get into doing it then. I focus, and just speed along doing it. I’m usually done everything before noon. I make lunch, and if it’s nice out, we sit outside, relax, and eat out on our deck. After lunch, we do whatever activities we feel like enjoying. Laundry complete, and I don’t have to think about it for another whole week. This works for me because my kids are grown and out of the house now, but with kids, I would do one load a day, but still by person.

Sure enough, this is very similar to what I do! After we had our second baby I just kept getting overwhelmed with the clean laundry and leaving it in baskets for days. Finally I sorted out the kids clothes from the parents clothes and just threw their clothes into the appropriate drawers. Then I tossed my underwear into its drawer and gave my t-shirts a hasty fold so they'd fit in their drawer. That left only a few t-shirts and boxers of my husband's. I enjoy taking the time to fold these and place them neatly in his drawer, Konmari style. But the rest of our stuff really doesn't need it!

Steph, do you find that you end up wasting that time you saved not folding when you go to find a complete outfit? That's why I do the Kon-Mari thing in our drawers. I love seeing everything at a glance and I don't have to dig to find a coordinating outfit. But on the other hand, I hate having to dig through a basket too because let's be honest, putting away used to take 5-7 business days...right?!?!

This is a great question! I started this laundry method about a year ago. At that time I also reduced our clothing and towel inventory. With a smaller inventory, I can see what I have easily and make selections easily. It also keeps things from wrinkling if there's not a bunch of items all crammed up in the drawers. I hope this helps! It's one of my favorite hacks!!🙌

I was going to say the same as Gina, I have a pretty small wardrobe, I hang my shirts so I can see those and then I mostly wear black leggings. I don't fit into my jeans yet post baby, but i do a have a couple of those as well. Less is more!

The Secret Slob you’ll laugh, but I only own three pair of Jeans, I wear two against each other, the third I keep new as a spare if one of my others tear. I also own only two sweaters, and three polo’s (which really need to be replaced) and a few T-shirts. I just don’t need more, heck if I have an entire drawer full of clothes I forget I have them since I only wear two pair of clothes against each other. Less is more in my case. Plus I also rather spend my money on books then on clothes. 😜

I do a load of day and find I fold hardly anything but sheets are folded and live in their respective pillowcases. I separate towels (might have a hardy hoodie or jeans in there), load for kitchen linen; I separate clothes not by color so much as feel. The softer, dainty stuff I don't want to peel if washed with rough sweats etc. It dries faster this way too.

I dont pair socks, I just get identical socks for each person. Black socks are sons, gray socks oldest, white socks for one of the middle kids, and grey toe white socks for the other kid. Each person just tosses their own style socks and undies in their drawer. Done! Shirts go on hangers. Pants and towels folded. I love tgis no fold method! If our drawers were standard size I would do it, but kids have plastic sterilite drawers instead of dressers, so folding pants is helpful for us.

I've been doing this for years, we only hang going out clothes everything else is just put in drawers. My twin boys at one stage just had black socks no sorting just put all together. They are older now and one recently requested stripy socks, so the socks are now black or stripy ones. still easy to pair up when needed

I personally would wash baby clothes separate with gentle detergent, also the kids clothes separate from the adults. I fold everything because it can get wrinkled in the drawer, t-shirts, pajamas etc; which look sloppy to me when worn. And finally when looking for the pajama bottom and top it would frustrate me. The only thing I do not fold is underwear, I put it in a basket in the drawer.

I put containers on the bedroom closet shelves so we can just throw undies and socks in , with no folding. Most everything else gets hung up, quickly, towels get rolled. A load a day makes it easy to manage. tfs 💗
