Megger is done for wire and cable both, first we do meggering for wires and cables before connection after that we do meggering( insulation test) for DBs

In DB insulation test we dont check between neutral and phase,

The main breaker is switched off only which is connected to Smdb. All outgoing breaker to each circuit is switched ON because we are meggering here the final db and all the final circuit in it.

You are right in some aspect, but here I showed you regarding the insulation resistance with earthing wire, What you are telling is correct if we check the resistance between phase to phase or phase to neutral, in that case if the appliances is connected and switched on you will unable to find the proper result. But with earth wire there is no problem like that because the main current flows in phase and neutral only. Even if you work in UAE and at the time of inspection if you closed the switch and authority come to know that you closed the switch then they will tell you to open switch before meggering the final DB. For cable meggering your point of view is correct.

@@EngineerTaj Thank you for kind and quick response, it's right that I may not be aware of all the possible uses and techniques of Meggering, yet I would insist to say this procedure does carry some serious risk of exposing your appliances to high DC voltage 500 V/1000 V, if one accidentally applies the testing probes to the Phase/Live and the Neutral of the circuit under test in case the appliances are powered by AC? And one would get the lowest possible ( useless?) meggering result. I didn't use a Megger ever. I got UniT UT 526 Insulation Resistance Tester & RCD Tester, didn't power it on. I'm waiting for the electrician to lay down a new wiring ( as the previous wiring has been faulty ) in our home with two separate Isolated Earthings. I have serious plan of installing a 3KW Hybrid Inverter ( equivalent to the Indian Cellcronic brand the New 6G ) with 4KW PV, with protection from lightning with LA. I intend to check the fitness of the wiring and also the fitness of the Earthing wires and also the Earthing (under ground) Electrode. Hence I trying to chew as much about Meggering as I can before I indulge in testing. I took pain to devise an electrical circuit around a single rotary 4 Pole 2 Way Switch in a way the same Earth-Leskage and Lightning-Arresting & Over-Curent-Protection circuitry be used on the Inverter as well as on the Utility line. Your kind support would be appreciated. Thank you.
