TENKAN (転換) is one of the main concepts and foundations of Aikido. Rotating with the body, keeping the front foot pivoting, is a fundamental skill in Aikido. Tenkan is one of the central pillars in the strategy of dealing with the opponent by letting the attack pass without being hit. Furthermore, all URA techniques use this foundation for their execution.
In this video I will show the basic ways to perform Tenkan, as well as teaching you how to do it, with solo exercises, with weapons and in pairs.
