I am going to rewatch and write everything down. The approach of simple routines and limiting time to 15 mins, 6 mins, 8 mins to “bless” and tidy are so great. One inch of papers a day! I love it. Papers are my biggest hangup. Thank you 🙏🏻 thank you!

I just stumbled on this. It gave me a bit of hope. I’m a person who loves organization but I’m living in constant chaos. I’m homeschooling a severely autistic child. I can’t walk away from him for more than a few minutes at a time. I have to keep him in my sight for safety. I spend most of my day teaching him and caring for him. He rises very early and struggles with not sleeping. So I’m tired and overwhelmed and the house is cluttered. I always have a list of jobs a mile long that I never finish but things don’t seem any better. I hope and pray I can try to make this work in my life. Thank you for this video.

J. I recently stumbled into this wonderful video, but my heart goes out to you. It makes my unique problem, insignificant compared to yours. I wonder how are you doing now, I will pray that Yahovah will send someone that would be willing to help you at least twice a week, if you still don't have someone helping you. BTW there is something you can do to help your autistic child calm down. A friend (used to be my son's pediatrician) works naturally with parents of autistic children. She gives great advice with good results and she doesn't sell anything. If you are interested I could talk with her about your situation. God bless you 🙏❣️

All I can say is Thank You! This has totally changed my life and my mindset! I am a mom with an adult child who is severely Autistic and mostly non verbal. Daily life can be overwhelming at times... Mu husband and I have put this method of cleaning and lifestyle into effect and it has helped so much! It has also helped our son, who likes routines. Again thank you so very much!!!!

This is so great!! I've subscribed twice to the Flylady website, shined my sink (and kept it that way for weeks), but would try to take all the information in and read every email (I'm an all or nothing person, overwhelming myself by and deciding it was too much. THIS Format IS SOOOOO MUCH BETTER FOR ME!!! 40 minutes to get the overview my brain needs to start and a list to follow. I am a teacher so I can get these routines ingrained in my brain. When I go back to work, I can make the necessary adjustments, but for the first time in a long time I feel like I can't screw this up. I won't have to go into "all (panic)" mode after a few weeks of "nothing" mode every time someone says they are going to stop by or feel like I am going to die of embarrassment when the guy comes to fix the cable. Thank you so much for this video!!

I've been struggling so much with cleaning my house. I've tried methods by multiple ladies with whom I won't name as I have learned a lot from them and don't want to diminish that or appear that I'm insinuating that their ideas aren't valid. However, the way you broke the routines down I feel like a weight has been lifted. I feel like I can do these routines and finally truly once and for all get my house under control and keep it that way. Thank you so much Flylady Kat, you are amazing!!!! I can't wait to watch more of you videos, especially the payroll flybaby ones.

I just happened to come across this video (just what I need) and has renewed my spirit giving some hope. Thank you FlyLady Kat for sharing this knowledge. I now think that it is possible for me to achieve a certain amount of order even if one has to live with some amount of disorder due to illness. I live in a very unique situation and I don't know anyone personally living the same situation. It could be very depressing if one is not careful. Again, thanks a million!! May God bless you 🙏. I'll be listening to your videos over and over again. Your kindness and caring comes through your voice and that gives me hope. 🤗

I love that you are realistic about adults who work outside of the home. It can be so chaotic at times. I think I have gotten fairly good at keeping up with my house this past year as opposed to previous years, but I am going to try implementing things you explained in this video. Sometimes it feels like I am always running around and trying to clean up, so hopefully I can get an even better handle on things with these routines.

Hello! From Leon Iowa! You really got me when you said it's going to get Her or Him feel really important. This is where lots of kids have been left behind. what a great time to tell them, "I Love You". When we contribute we feel like family. I just want to thank you for going over the basics, because at 49 years old I am finding out people don't have the basics any more Dad and Mom are not home, the kids have no clue what is good and proper. I have told people about study areas for years, built them little desks they can fold down and leave down or hinge back up, out of the way, but you know most people don't want them, they have no clue where there school books are. Lots of Love back to you, you are changing lives, close to 1/4 million people have saw this video, that is so great.

Dear Flylady Kat, I'm writing to say one very big THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge and experience here. It has not only transformed my life, but also made great difference in the lives of my family. I was reluctant at first, but then decided to have a go, as things were going quite desperate in terms of house cleaning. Had no time for anything the piles of washing phased me big style, so I tried not to touch it at all if I could. What I did was to systematise the information from your video into a daily/weekly/decluttering table plan, customised it a little bit to make it more relevant to the needs of our home and voila... I've been doing the routine for few weeks now and the result so far is: clean sinks, toilets, bath tub, floors, worktops, fridge, fresh bed linen every week, no dust on side tables, struggled to put a wash load together this morning :) all clean clothes are put away! Haven't started with the decluttering yet, but the results so far are AMAZING! After finishing the daily and weekly routine I noticed little things start popping up.. little things that need doing.. like for example wipe the coffee/sugar/tea jars or wash the spoon rest etc. This is the most inspiring system! It truly transformed our lives. Sometimes I get the feeling that the house is going on auto pilot! How amazing is this. I got to your channel through Jennifer Scott's Daily Connoisseur, which was the first phase of our lives transformation for the better. Yours just finished it off nicely! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I'd be thankful for an adaptation of this for someone who actually works full time and has to get everything done "around" working hours. I just found your channel because someone mentioned Fly Lady and you came up. I love this video and how you've explained everything. It doesn't have to be difficult and doing it means you love yourself and your family. We recently visited my family and stayed with my dad and stepmom. Their home seems perfect. No clutter, clean, the fridge is full of edible food. I kept thinking how do they do it? I did notice their evening routine. After everyone ate they put the leftovers away, emptied the dishwasher, put dirty dishes in, setup a few things needed for the next day. That's how I need my life to be. Organized without going crazy. I'm willing to start with the routines. They are doable.

I have a folder for "filing" that sits on my desk so that stuff automatically goes in there, and also a tub for shredding so that really helps to automatically keeps the piles smaller. For kids artwork, here is my advice . .each week go through the artwork and with the child ask which one piece to save. Then you can display that piece for a week u til the next one is chosen. Then file the old one, maybe in a small box, and then once a month you decide which one to keep. This gets you to keep some artwork of your child, but at the end of the year there are only twelve pieces. Start of next year you decide which one, or more if you must, to keep. There are some really cute ways to display this artwork, wish I could show some here but can't. Will describe one here . .you can use either individual hooks for this or a shelf with hooks on it. You can use more than two hooks, you should have one for each child. For each hook you will need a wooden pants hanger, from dollar store, and some black construction paper. You cut the construction paper one inch larger each side, then attach the artwork to the paper, with glue or those corner tabs, whatever looks good and works. No tape showing please. Then hang those in the wooden hanger and put the hanger on the hook. It looks tasteful and gives prominence to the artwork as well. Change those at least weekly choosing that one piece of artwork to be displayed. This also teaches your child without the child realizing it, purging and decluttering as well as keeping the clutter down in your home and helping to encourage your child's self esteem :)) hope that helps

Mother of six here... I always fold and hang up clothes right as I pull them out of the dryer. My machines are in the basement, so I use a big blue Ikea bag to put the folded laundry in and carry it from room to room to put away the clothes.

I wasn't able to do all of the sink shining because I didn't have all of the items on hand, but it does look nice and I can't wait to do more! Thanks for this video!

Tc all the people who complain about shining the sink: it's only an hour the first time. After that I clean it after I do the dishes. Kathy B

An hour? How? Do people not clean their sink for 10 years? I'm trying not to be judgmental, but I'm a lazy housekeeper, and I know it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes, even accounting for hard mineral buildup.

I also feel sorry for neglected houses. Someone needs to love them and take care of them. I guess it's true about the inside of our homes as well and yes, our cars. I am in the process of preparing to declutter and make things more open and spacious. Some of my spaces are chaotic and they give me no peace. They are my first priority this month. Thanks for a great video.

Loved this video! I’ve done flylady in the past but a video is so much more helpful. The website and emails was just not what I needed.

Thank you! The way you break it down makes me hopeful that I can make my routines a habit! I had my house under control before I got a promotion at work and started working 60 hour weeks. Chaos reigns supreme right now! A regular 40 hour week is on the horizon. I'm excited to take back my house! P.S I found you through Kimmy at She's in her apron. I just love her!

I have seen 5 minutes of your video and I got this urge to scroll down to say I love u I needed u long time back.... I am so excited to see all your videos My life is going in the right direction Thanks ...yes I already want to thank u after 5 minutes of your video Coz I have been scribbling through notepads since years writing my routines.... And I never followed them..so I started feeling it's my hobby to just keep making routines and fill up my notebooks... Now I feel I am going to get the right advice from u..... Esp when I heard not taking a shower in the morning..coz that is a stressor... I don't feel like getting up in morning.... And I do always run behind

Great advice. In Australia we hang our washing on the line because we have good weather most of the time. It saves money on electricity (which is super expensive) and it smells sunshine fresh to hang it out.

Michele McGill ... l live in Australia as well and l hang all my washing on the line ... l planted lavender bushes next to my cloths line and on warm days when l take my sheets off the line l drape them over the lavender for 1/2 an hour ... the sheets smell so wonderful !!

What a fantastic idea. I've never had much success with growing lavender. Maybe I could put some lavender or eucalyptus in the rinse. Not as great as a natural approach but worth a try.

I am in Australia too, and after faffing with the washing all day, the last thing i want to do is fold it. 🙁

Ok if I may add on. Your tips especially about discarding papers, great. If you can't bring yourself to throw something due to attachment 😂😂, get someone else throw or donate it when you are not aware of it. 🤣🤣

Hello Flylady Kat, I have tried Flylady in the past only to give up and fall back into what I call my "multi-generational" domesticated challengedness. I am very inspired after watching your video and have already emptied the sink and blessed my bathroom. I am always dressed to the shoes once I get out of bed, so that is one habbit I have down! Oh and I started purging clutter, actually it was expired dry and can goods from the kitchen cupboards.(I need to have room in my cupboards so I can clear my counters!)
