Man that makes me feel really good about buying a Saturn Vue that's easy peasy but I got to put lines on it too I don't know how hard that is Amala mechanic but I'm a machinist so I can usually figure out how to do this stuff with the help of people like you showing me how easy it is thank you
Basically, this is a good video! LOL! But a few things to consider:1. You may not have to take the caliper all the way off the change the brakes, just take off the screw that allows the caliper to swing up if you're only changing the brakes. 2. DO NOT let the caliper just hang down, that's how you ruin your brake line.3. Probably a good idea to open the master cylinder cap when compressing the calipers.4. Change the brackets out and use anti-seize (my preference) or brake grease so the brakes won't stick to the caliper and where the brakes touch the brackets.5. You should probably check the caliper guide pins, clean them, and add silicon as necessary.6. PLEASE torque down the bolts properly. Caliper bolts normally torque down to 20 ft lbs.
NEVER work under a car without JACK STANDS. You never work under a car supported by a jack alone especially the spare tire jack. If the jack fails you are screwed. Also you ALWAYS replace the rotors when changing the pads, they wear together. Sorry but thumbs down from me.
ALWAYS ALWAYS work under a car with jack stands! I have a workplace friend who's son died because he did not support the car with a jack stand and no one was around to help him .
I'm all for this video but being a brake tech and just doing the pads is a hazard and creates more uneven wear and wears them out quicker. I'd recommend just doing all rotors and pads saves time and money.
Thanks for the video! I am trying to save as much money as possible since this coronavirus outbreak. So I am almost confident I can change my own brakes!
basically this was a great video and I basically had no problems changing my pads because of it. To everyone who didn't like this video "Shut up" lol love it.
You dont have to loosen the cap on the master cylinder first ? To release the pressure when you squeeze the brake cylinder ? we used to do that in the old days Thank you
Thank you for the video. Will it be the same for a 2008 Saturn Aura Hybrid Greenline? My friend tried doing them for me and had some trouble. He did everything exactly the same but when he tried to fit the new pads in they weren't fitting properly. They're the correct pads for this vehicle. What do you think could be the issue? Before he replaced the pads he said something about having to compress air out or something because the new pads are bigger than the old ones because their worn out. Lol I know absolutley nothing about any of this if you havent noticed. Thanks for any advice.
+Susan Cole if they are autozone brakes take them back! alot of there brakes are poor quality ain't they are not a exact fit and require some grinding... which is bull. go somewhere like napa or something
Thanks for the video ! I'm thinking of buying a 2008 Saturn Vue! I was looking a one today and I might buy it tomorrow but I was wondering if you"ve had any major problems with your Vue?
