How to do well in chemistry 1. Pre read, group into tables and write down formulas and basically write down everything 2. Fully understand before going to practice papers. Practice. Practice. Practice. 3. Go to your teacher. As much as possible. 4. Practice your papers, increase speed and accuracy 5. Write down the steps and how you get the answer. Don’t rush but also don’t take too much time for certain questions. 6. It is a slow process. Have the mindset of “learning” rather than “studying” Giving up is not going to speed the process 7. Persevere. Chemistry is a tough subject. You will find the beauty in it. You will understand it, be patient.

@@veronicajata3121 you can do it sometimes people dont get chemistry right away it might take you many times to pass but dont give up. I'm a chem major and this past fall semester I started doing lab work and I messed up. During one lab session I broke a test tube lol. More specifically try to understand where u are falling short and why. Failure is something to help you realize the gaps in your understanding and it should be used to help you succeed instead of just letting failure be something that makes you feel better. Dont quit because struggle is often what births great things. If you give up you may never get to experience those great things. Last thing. I'm a chem major but got a D on my very first chem exam. you are such a life saver. and honestly what you said about finding your reason to persevere chemistry is very profound. many times in my freshman intro to chemistry class i was so frustrated and defeated because i have a prof that made fun of people for asking questions, very bad at explaining things, and goes off topic very often. and even with going to office hours, i still often don’t understand what he’s saying. there were and still are times where i really thought i’m just going to fail and be a lost cause, but i simply cannot because i want to be a doctor and i want it very badly, i can’t let this one person get me off track. anyways i’ll stop yapping😭thank you so much for the tips💕

I remember when I was in 10th grade I wrote my first A in chemistry in a class of a teacher who didn't believe in me at all, but still it really motivated me. I actually started liking chemistry. The teacher still wanted to give me a bad oral grade eventhough I always tried my best in his class(in Germany you have an oral and a writing grade(basically your test grade) that make your whole grade). Sometimes I feel like loser because of those teachers, I feel very anxious around them and about making mistakes. How do I let go of that feeling? And how do I stop caring about someone being better than me in school? I have seen so many students who seem to learn everything so effortlessly. I'm now in 11th grade and I'm taking chemistry and biology as my classes that will count more in my A-levels or in Germany "Abitur" for the in Germany called qualification phase(12-13 grade).

Pre-read (previewing the text, making presumptions of the text for connections to previous knowledge so that you can build off it during the actual reading so that it’s easier to understand). Annotate/make lots of notes in a way that makes most sense to you during your lecture and after. Summarize information into tables he says, yet I find splitting information into section summaries more convenient. However, I can understand the thought process since it further forces you to further condense important information into easily accessible pieces, which is a form of independent problem solving as you build efficiency in summarizing important information. Group similar mechanisms together so that you can easily refer back to them later, and I said something along those lines already under “Pre-read”. Write down every single thing the professor wrote down whether in slides or information professors emphasize during lecture.

Hey, I really liked this video, so I'm two chemistry course away from getting my degree. One course is Inorganic Chemistry and the others is Organic Chemistry, I passed Physical Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry the second time doing it but for the other two, it's like it's a really high mountain to climb

I’m in grade 12U chemistry right now, my mental health coming into the beginning of the semester was horrible and I’m starting to get better now, but throughout the entire semester I didn’t do good on tests at all, I didn’t study and now I’m coming up to exams (and I’ve never written one before because of covid)just passing at %53 and I’m terrified. I was failing all of my classes at one point because my mental health but I’m passing now yay. Now 2 weeks until exams and I have ever felt so bad about myself. I’m just so disappointed at myself. I started studying a week ago so I still have a lot of hope to pass this course if I study really really hard. And you are right going from grade 11 chem to grade 12 chem is a HUGE change. I’m a good smart student and I love that I recognize that but this past year has been rough! I am going to pass my chem exam and I’m going to study better now because of your tips! Thank uuu sm

I write an explanation for how I got the answer on the hw and keep copies. Hw is how you study it. 80% of chem 1 is metric conversions. Also here’s a good tip for metric conversions as this kills most people in chem. If you can’t figure out what equality statements to use, just divide what you want by the sum(COUNT from the exponent of factorials on your prefix table to the value you want and making it positive or negative depending on direction) so for example nm to m is 10^9 for the denominator because you go from 10^-9 to the base factor m. Nm to deci is 10^8

7:17 I’m always hesitant to ask questions because I feel like I’m a nuisance and annoying..... I’m exactly like you, I barely understand what’s going on in chemistry and have to self-teach myself and then ask my teachers questions. But everyone in my class seems to pick up chemistry really quickly, no one is struggling except me and I feel so stupid 😅

I just wanted to ask a pretty *particular* question that you might be able to help with! For me I find that it becomes difficult to use the time i study wisely. By that I mean that for the amount of time I spend working and “studying”, I seem to only retain the very surface level ideas and concepts. I’m not sure how i can deepen my level of understanding, considering how ineffective i am at studying both with the time i spend and how little i get through. So TLDR, how can you use your study time wisely and effectively to retain the max amount of information? Thank you! ;-;

I have to get an A in chemistry this fall to get into the program I want to be in due to the math/sciences gpa requirement. I mean I could just replace one of my calculus grades but it might delay my graduation so I'm about to go all out on Chemistry. Now I'm watching how to ace chem videos lmao. Also, do you think General Chemistry or Biology 1 is easier? I can take either/or

Grade 10 chem I got a 99 but in grade 11 im barely getting over 90's. My teacher assigns questions that aren't on the test and the level of questions she assigns are so much easier than the ones on the test. For my first unit I did every question she assigned and I understood it to a perfect degree but in the test she gave questions that didn't look anything like what had been assigned. They were so many levels harder and upon looking she gave exception questions like I was supposed to know. It would have been so useful to do harder questions so I could be prepared but anytime I asked she told me to "not worry about it". I'm completely sick of this course, like so annoyed. I used to love them absolutely but idk anymore. I need a high 90 to be competitive for uni applications and right now I can barely get a 90.

right now my chem class is really hard for me and it is the only subject I'm having trouble with. I don't understand most of the things and today I failed my pop quiz due to me being in pain and not feeling well... I wasn't in a mood to do test and didn't pay attention that much... Im in 10th grade and my only goal this year is to pass all my classes with straight A's I don't think its gonna happened any time soon my class only notes about energys right now and I'm hoping to do the math part cause I'm good with math and understand it pretty well. Chemistry and science are not my thing TwT
