Shadow ball has a 3 second cooldown. That means from the time the log message "Gardevior used shadow ball" appears, the move will hit in 3 seconds. If we are using shadow claw or metal claw, those take 0.5 seconds, so we can fit 5 of them in before we swipe. We also can see the shadow ball form, and then be launched at our pokemon. The correct time to swipe is when that purple black ball is heading towards our pokemon.
