Thanks for this. I think that you have an ability (despite being a veteran) to understand how some things may not be so obvious to people new to shooters. These tips make so much sense.
Jake, I started watching your videos a week ago and I got 2nd place in solos today! That’s the farthest I’ve ever gotten ! Great tips, great content ! Can’t wait for my first W
bro has improved my zero build play by so much its not even funny last week i was 12 points off qual and with the improvement that ive got from these videos im definitely going to round two this week
For those that need rules to follow for their movement: -whenever possible play off right shoulder peak cover -avoid rushing someone who has right shoulder peak on you. Try to readjust where you will have the right shoulder peak. This is the “bulletless dance” of fighting in ZB -IF you have to rush someone who has right shoulder peak: -make the Angle as acute as possible before rushing -sprint and slide around the corner OR -sprint and jump around the corner -when pushing someone in the open begin with a shotgun shot, afterwards you can: -crouch spam - jump and then slide (can repeat)
I started c4s1, as a KBM player. Your videos have been a massive help for general game knowledge. Thought I'd never give this game a go, but here I am with 400 h played now. All thanks to your videos.
Just wanted to express my appreciation for all your videos Jake. I only started playing Fortnite in Chapter 4 and your tutorials/tips/inside the mind series have really helped me enjoy the game. Side note for everyone supporting Jake with his creator code, I've noticed that the creator code will reset and you have to re-enter it back in every now and then. Not sure if that's intentional or not. Thanks again
Strife aiming is awesome, but another trick I use is recoil aiming. If my aim is just below someone who is farther away I'll go ahead and shoot, then shoot again right after, allowing the recoil to push my aim up. One of the 2 shots always hits, especially if they're running straight towards me or away. I'm an ace with a dmr and the combo of strife aiming and recoil aiming is my secret.
If you want to practice left stick aim turn aim assist of in red vs blue or the pit and it forces you to left stick aim and helps find left stick deadzone
This is the one skill that is shared between all good gamers... sometimes i get killed by someone and immediately know he will win the game just because how good his movement was, and im often right
Good advice - movement mechanics is definitely a hard thing to wrap your head around and master - I know what I find difficult to hit, but I wasn't always sure how to duplicate those movements I appreciate the information on performing minor adjustments to your aim by moving your character, which has the double impact of not only changing your aim, but making you more challenging to hit back. You do a great job with simple explanations with topics that seem more complex, keep up the great work.
I started c3s4 just stock settings. Did rad rad rad. Now since last season 4/1 i changed my look to like 3 and my ads to 2. I used to do that on warzone. Just last night i was messing w gyro (not for me but cool) and decided to move those back up to 4/3. And made the r stick dead zone 22%. Seems like a lot but its less than it starts w. Also took round count off reticle. Im back baby. Back to to chapter 3 numbers, better w the pistol, better w the havoc pump, just a crazy difference.
A month ago, after playing on a switch for 3 years I moved to a PS5, I realized just how much I relied on motion control for small aim adjustments and controlling recoil, got my PS5 set finally to duplicate the feel of the Nintendo with far superior graphics. Mouse like aim control with a controller
Props for being able to play with a PS5. I tried once at my friends house, I couldn't even see through windows without being blinded by light. Huge disadvantage.
I discovered something today that helped with both my movement and my aim. It really surprised me. I started playing chapter 4 season 1 (xbox & controller). I read so many good things about using a tall aim (right) stick, that I got one and have been using it until today. I just swapped it to the original standard height stick for fun to try out the difference. I’ve played 3 matches since and I’m surprised to discover that: (A) my movement has become more fluid (B) i feel like my tracking and general aim is much more predictable and consistent (C) my expo sensitivity of 30 instantly felt too slow. I increased it to 35 and will keep tweaking it until it feels right. With the taller stick I couldn’t go past 30 sens or it was too uncontrollable. At least for me, it seems the tall stick was exaggerating my movements. It’s been feeling so sloppy lately, until today. I’m loving the standard height stick, contrary to what I’ve researched about them. I even won 1 match out of 3, and I felt I could actually control my hip fire aim more consistently! 🎉
@@EvolveJake The default stick is 1cm and the long one I had was 1.7cm (70% taller). It was from one of those aftermarket Amazon sellers that sell the kit with paddles and a few different sticks. I may try a KontrolFreek still ahead, but this tall stick I had is maybe a bit too tall. You’re spot on… it’s all personal preference. You’ve spoken a lot about that in your vids. Keep up the good work on your content, Jake. Thanks!
As an xbox player (and old man) my biggest problem is getting into fights with mouse and keyboard players....or great players in general tbh. The way some players can move and mainly spam crouch during a fight is just overwhelming to me.
You are not alone trust me, thing is it is a skill that u can learn if u focus on it. I mean the moment i pay attention to my movement in a game i feel 10 times better than the games i dont
Thanks for the tips! I'm trying to switch to the claw grip with my controller to better assist with simultaneous movement and aim-per your suggestion. See you on stream!
I feel really good about my general movement strategies in game, but I've yet to figure out controller key-binds that let me comfortably maintain my aim while jumping. if I lose, it's generally against someone getting off 3-4 quality shots while I only get off 2 because I didn't want to whiff
You're a smart dude! I've been playing fortnite off and on since it came out but you do a great job of summarizing things I do know from other games and this game as well but maybe forgot to focus on/how important they really are! Thanks!
Yesterday i fought a Sniper player, i Katana to a big tree next to it and waited until he was on my sight, then i was able to hit a 220 shot with the mythic shotgun, he didn't expected the tree strat🗿
Thanks for the vid! Btw could you please help me? I started playing 3 months ago and since then my Red eye scope is bugged and I have no scope. The problem is it started happening also regularly with the DMR this week meaning there's nothing else I can use. Would you have any idea how to fix it please? (btw I play split screen on xbox S)
For pushing someone behind the rock or a tree I'm using Katana up straigth on the enemy, insta slide & close shotgun shot, then ( while still sliding ) swithing to SMG and spraying,if after this person didn't die I just finish with red-eye or repeat this combo
Love all of your videos! I have amazing games where I seemingly get everything right, then others where I just utterly fail. Watching this video, a question dawned on me. You always seem to know where opponents are. I do not. Do you have a trick? I think this will help me the most right now. Thanks in advance and I have been supporting you in ths shop for a while now! Again, love your content!
I know this is an old video but I’m curious when you are moving in a fight how much % of the time are you hip firing without aiming. Cause I don’t move when I’m aiming 🤦♂️
Part of the reason why I stopped Apex was because advanced movement mechanics were so inaccessible and frustrating to play against. At least if I get outplayed in Fortnite I feel like there was a reason, not just stringing together multiple movement techniques.
My biggest problem is forgetting to switch guns while in a gunfight; I’m so used to call of duty gunfights 🤦🏾♂️ I’ve died so many times when I coulda switched guns. Is there an island code I can practice this on?
Some of my friends rely on Cop tactics and the strategy and tips and tricks they learned from Rainbow Six Siege. Which, hey if it works for them it works for them. But I don't really find the usefulness of building your whole strategy on that. Since it is not always the case you will be fighting indoors or in buildings. That might be a topic for a future video. How to dominate indoors fights.
A question that’s been on my mind since gyro has been added in Fortnite, is gyro a good thing to help with aim?? I use gyro on switch on the game and I struggle a bit with my aim, when I turn gyro off I still can’t aim well enough as it’s harder for me to aim more with gyro off then when it’s on, that might be a me thing on that but I’ve tried every setting to get my aim better and nothing works, I sill miss some shots and I sometimes get a kill if I’m lucky enough, not sure if gyro is the reason I can’t aim good enough or not
Awesome, but I think the most important tactic is to swap to your pickaxe the second you eliminate someone. That's what everyone that can beat me seems to do. Not reload, not take heals, but swap to that pickaxe while you run over their loot pile. I don't know why it works, but the results speak for themselves.
its so they can pickup the ammo heals and mats in build mode without droping anything whereas if you spam your pickup button with an item out you will drop it for something else
Good one bro! Solid effective tips. For real, your channel is so fucking underrated! Have they fixed the presumed bug with aim assist when using damage numbers as a sum instead of a list (don’t remember the name of the setting). Because I noticed you’re playing with the “list” setting. Are there any advantages in one or the other? I haven’t put that much thought into it.
@@EvolveJake Man I don't get it.. It seems like all of you Fortnite RU-vidrs play with controllers. Are y'all actually good at the game or just rely on aim assist, jeez.
@@farlapjones smh I play on switch lite lol and even though I’m good, deep down I know I will have to get a controller with paddles soon. I used to play with a Xbox one elite controller back in the day.
@@TheSilentEntity If you're good on the switch, you will be a demon on controller with paddles. I play controller, and though I have my moments, I will never reach the next level without paddles. Good luck champ 👍
Am I the only one that turns off aim assist? I have no need for assistance. I don't have perfect aim at all, but if I'm hitting laser shots, at least I know that's all me.
@@EvolveJake In any case the game has gone to shit, there's certainly been an increase in people using cheats this season and anyone denying that is either in on it or completely oblivious. True it may be getting harder to detect but I don't think epic cares that much anyway as long as they keep making money that's number one priority
