Love the idea of an Inventory of Doodles"! 7:16 What a clever idea to bind them together with the ring to keep them accessible! Your voice is soothing and explanations so helpful. I hope you will return to making videos again, but I realize the stress that can cause over time. You are a treasure and please know that you are appreciated for your hard work and beautiful art creations!
I agree with all the wonderful comments, and want to add that you have attracted a following of kind, positive, and appreciative people, which makes reading the comments a pleasure, and which reflects the person who you are. Kudos on all levels.
Your doodles are gorgeous and its mesmerizing to watch! So relaxing. In this time of stress in our world you bring a bright light with you work and soothing voice....thank you!
I’ve been painting oranges over & over so these look like fruit to me. This painting honors the minerals that color our world- gold, iron, ochre, our beautEarth! 😎❤️
I have a mixed media journal which is terrible for watercolor so I use it like a scrapbook. I do my doodles and other small paintings on pieces of decent paper and use double sided tape to adhere the art into the book. This gives me an inventory of ideas for future paintings.
Why is it that when you randomly put down colors in a carefree manner, they look great and when I try to do things like you do, mine look like a mess??? Guess that’s the difference between an artist and a beginner. I’m not giving up, though. Hopefully some day mine will look a little better. My grandkids think I do a great job, so I do have a few fans. ;)
I just bought a packet of Kuretake Gansei Tembi 6 starry colours. 5 various golds and 1 silver after watching someone else using them. I haven't had a chance to use them yet but looking forward to doing so. This work is so beautiful and watching you relaxing. Thank you for sharing with us. xoxo
I am left handed and my mind does not understand what is going watching a right handed artist. Sounds strange I know. But no matter, you are so free and my admiration is to the sky. When my husband was alive he wanted my art to be realistic and did not understand that I preferred my own style. He was a good man and built me my own studio.
I don’t know what I’d do without your doodles. This home bound life after cabin fever is actually making me lethargic. You’re making me move. Thank you for all of your uploads. It means so much. I don’t have all of the supplies, wonder of wonders. I need new pens. FYI Dick Blick has been having great sales daily. Thanks again, stay safe and healthy.
Just found your channel and just love your work your way of teaching a class. Your voice is so soft and smooth to listen to. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.
If I could only put into words how much your demonstrations mean to me... I am inspired by your words and by you sharing your passion for creating art. I hope you continue to share as I know so many of us look forward to seeing you create. Thank you, I will be joining as a Patreon member very soon!
Oh Ceci, love this so much. Your laughter is refreshing and says so much about you. I love your channel and thank you for sharing your creative soul with us. Where can we share our own creations?
I just love to watch you create!!! Your work is so beautiful and you are soothing to listen to. Now if I could just put some paint to paper! I feel so intimidated but on a good note I ordered the gold and silver paints that you use and am anxiously awaiting their arrival!! Thanks for sharing 🤗🥰
Lovely - easy and fun, exactly what I need in my life right now. I have a very hard time doodling, but I'm practicing 👍 About salt: it's not so much the quality of the paint, I think, it just varies a lot between colors. Kind of like how some paints are more granulating or staining than others, not a quality issue but just different properties of the pigments and formulations. Dr Oto Kano has a Daniel Smith comparison series here on RU-vid where she tests out properties of similar colors in the Daniel Smith range, including how they react to gauze and salt techniques. It's super interesting, and sometimes colors that look almost identical will have wildly different reactions!
So beautiful. I love the doodles. I'm always afraid to do much with the markers, afraid I'll mess up a decent painting with messed up doodles. Sigh. Practice makes confidence. You make it look so effortless.
Your artwork is beautiful and your calm voice is peaceful. Art is therapy for me and I am learning so much about watercolors through wonderful artists like yourself that are sharing their craft in videos. Thank you for inspiring me!
I love dots and circles also.. . Your doodles are so gorgeous, and looking at your pieces are so happy and relaxing. I just spent an hour and made one for myself. So much fun!!!
Winsor Newton has a gold metallic ink you might like. It needs to be shaken very well before using. Then, after it has dried, you can burnish it and make it look like gold leaf. I love to watch the glitter flakes swirl around after it has been shaken. They are beautiful to watch.
Loved the video You have given me a new confidence to create something besides a Coloring Book for Adults. I used to love doodles on my Blue Notebooks in High School.
I love this. I'm keen to start using water colours for the first time but always feel pressure to have to create a 'proper' painting if you see what I mean. This has inspired me soooooo much to just create work that makes me happy. X
Just found you this week...I’ve been using your technique for circles, but I see mine as auras then doodle a little person in each one. I just love your soothing style and want to thank you for the little burst of inspiration you sparked in me.
That was fun...and very relaxing....my hub calls me "dotty" so...those dots are perfection....and I like the white on the stones...more texture...more interesting....now I will go doodle and sprinkle some salt on them...bye.
I did lessons with children when I taught elementary art like these to help them get out of their head that art had to look like a specific object and that really it is a release of imagination and evolving problem solving of their own making.
Covid is over mostly but it's still havoc for me. I've been so down and so unable to get into my creative groove. This helped. I paused the video and got things done for the day. I treated myself by stopping by an art store for gold metallic. I got a whole pallet of metallics of a cheaper brand. Nevertheless, it was satisfying to follow along at the end of my day in a loose way and make something that felt good. You got me moving this morning with a reward for the end of day. I feel better. Thanks for the inspiration to just make something after my duties to the world were finished. goals... :)
This is gorgeous. Like you, I have had trouble using the salt but will keep trying. I have learned so much about combining watercolour painting with doodling in a sophisticated way from you. Thank you so much for sharing your talent and inspiration. Stay safe and healthy.
Absolutely love your doodles. I particularly love the book marker video. The. Doodled one with the bigger flowers is my favorite. Thank you for inspiring me!!!!
Thank you so much Ceecee, I really really enjoyed watching you create this awesome painting and although I’ve watched this before, I still enjoyed it again. The gold is absolutely sumptuous and the star ⭐️ is stunning and gorgeous too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
I have to thank you for recommending the brush guys. I'm new to all of this, and was able to get some really nice brushes for a completely reasonable price. That sure does make a difference! Even though I still have no idea what I'm doing, the brush made me feel like I did. They shipped super fast as well. Now I just need to sort out the paper. Thanks again! :)
I don't know if you see my comments, but, I really love everything you make. And I'm taking you with me to Key Largo Florida. I'm gonna watercolor by the beach and your videos are making that happen for me. You've been SUCH a creative fresh breath of air. ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Your style, and how you work calms me so much. It's exactly the vibe I hope to achieve when creating something. Thank you so much, you're exactly what I need at this time. Do you ever sell prints of your work?? The colours in this one really speak to me 💜
Your channel is by far my absolute favorite on all of RU-vid world. Your designs are inspiring me to pick up my cheap brushes and water colors and create my own little world... thank you!
That's what I was going to mention. Salt doesn't work on staining paints - because they don't lift and move. Non-staining works. Granulating gives it a different texture. I have tried a whole lot of different salts. Kosher and rock salt are fun. I had an old container of Lite Salt - lower in sodium - and it made very different marks. I feel bad that it didn't work for you the first time! We avoid things that aren't quickly successful when starting out. I love that you tried it again! My brushes are dry; my paints need days of adding water before they will respond properly, but a friend of mine is trying to egg me on to paint again. I discovered a robin has made a nest outside my sewing room window and caught it with my camera. She wants me to paint it - but I love it as a photo! LOL!
Paints need DAYS of adding water till they respond properly? Well, that’s quite a thing to learn. Thank you for that information. Also the info on the salt not working on staining paints. You are very knowledgeable, Kathleen! Please put some paint to paper again. You didn’t mention why you haven’t done it in so long your paints need to warm up. I don’t know if you have some sort of creative block to get passed, or you’re fine with it cuz you just don’t feel like it. Either way, I appreciated your comments and wish you the best.
@@algiepowers My paints are so dried out that to make them work like fresh paint again! Sorry for the confusion! I've had health problems off and on for several years - it took away a lot of my thinking ability. I'm much better, but I haven't been up to painting for a while. A friend is demanding that I get working on it again, though! LOL! I do creative things though! And, yes - staining paints like thalo/pthalo blue and that type that make smooth washes but don't lift don't let the paint move with the salt. It took me a while to figure that out! :D It is so much fun to experiment and find out what your paints do! I made samples of paints to see how things work. I make lines for each paint I have - or the ones I want to experiment with. I write the names and make a vertical line with a black marker. Then I paint a swatch - water and paint enough to see it well - over that space including over the black line. If paint shows on the line, it is translucent to opaque. The rest are transparent. When they are dry, I take a damp brush and wipe over a bit of the line and wipe with a cloth or paper towel to see if the paint will lift. That will show staining if it doesn't lift or non staining if it does. Some lift a bit more than others. It is interesting to see how your paints work! :D
I had to watch this again it’s WOW 😮 WOW 😮 WOW 😮. I really really agree with a comment that you should scan this in, and sell the prints, every one would buy it; I know I would. Thank you so much xxx Mags
Its a joy to watch and you are so creative. Inspiring to see it all come together. I appreciate your willingness to show up and give us these tutorials.
Heeeeeyyyy!! I just found your channel and have watched a couple of your videos…. Loving something very special about you…. Your laugh 😂 I LOVE LOVE that you laugh while you work!! And your paintings are just as beautiful as your laugh ❤
Thank you for another beautiful piece of artwork! I love your creations, but I have to admit I also tune in to hear your joyful voice and happy laughter. Thank you
Soothing & beautiful. If you use a staining paint, the salt technique isn't evident. Paints that lift well generally work well with the salt technique as long as you have a good balance of moisture as you did in this example. XO
