Hi mark ,I got the API working,I had some error messages but sorted them out ,i had to many APIs running in excel so i turned them off ,now to the interesting part of testing.

Hi Mark. Are you using the API in other ways as well? Like downloading multiple sets of data in parallel or series. Some times it is useful to have rawdata in different time to compare the data, eg. year 2015, year 2016, or to simply download different data for compare the different thus identify different optimization in indicator parameter settings.

Hi Alonso, there are lots more uses for the API but so far I have only used it for data. You can also use it to trade directly.

Hi Mark! I am using Excel for Mac. I'm wondering if you do know by any possible way how I can get the historical OHLC data from IG into Excel on a Mac? There are yahoo and investing sites but I want the IG data specifically. Thank you!

Hi, this is a good question. Have you tried to use the IG Excel app? Assuming it does not work then you would need to connect to the API using another method. I have not tried this myself, but there does seem to be a good community and some support at IG.

Is there a way to then import this data in Metatrader 4? I have tried saving as CVS but MT4 didn't seem to read it, maybe I am missing something

I've not done this myself but you can do it. You could use .csv format but you would need to convert the data into a format that MT4 reads. The dates need to be separated by a .
