Bought the student version for solidworks class to be able to do coursework at home and I can not download it to pc. The download tab is greyed out in the installation manager page.
Please could help me with how to enter the serial number, I entered 9020 on the six empty boxes provided and it says it's your serial number is incomplete. Please I really really need help here... Hi Arthur, sometimes the website gives this issue, just try again a few times. It might also be a security setting for your browser blocking the download.
At the moment of the Solidworks product activation, is there a problem if only the SOLIDWORKS option appears, but not the SOLIDWORKS flow simulation option? or what happens in that case?
It depends what licenses are included with your serial number and what products you selected to install, in some instances you will not get the flow simulation option when activating.

Hi, what should i do if I get a warning saying, "Your serial number does not entitle you to solidworks 2020. If your license is new, you may want to try again later. Otherwise contact your reseller to verify that the number is correct. You will still be able to choose your products you want to install, but you will not be able to download any installation files. If you continue without downloading enabled, you will need to provide a complete set of download source files or a dvd from which to install. "
Hi Muhammad, double check with your lecturer that he has supplied the newest serial number to you, and if the education institution is up to date on their subscription/maintenance?
Hi i did all of these steps before finding your video and whn it came to the licensing part when i would click to do it over the internet its was coming up with a pop up window saying serial number not entitled to solidworks 2024 what do i do?

I did all the steps in the video, but once I get to the end where I download and install, the button doesn't work and it doesn't give me any errors. The button just doesn't download. Is there any way I can fix this?
I don't get the option "download & install ". there's an install option only and when I ask to install now there is a message "Additional files are needed based on the products selected. "
It sounds like the installation manager is having trouble connecting to the internet. Please ensure Solidworks has access to the internet when trying to install.

Threr is a message "The folder you specified does not contain all necessary files for this SOLIDWORKS 2020 SP03 installation. Because downloads are disabled, the Installation Manager will not download missing files. You may either change the products you want to install to reduce the number of required files, or browse to a different folder containing all required source files." WHAT SHOULD I DO?
@@alaakamal3599 Please ensure you typed in the serial number into the installer and that it is a current valid serial number, expired or invalid serial numbers will be unable to let the installer download the required files.

Hello! Is it possible to install solidworks on a external hardrive? if so I should also put the installation manager in the hardrive from the beginning for it to work or just afterwards? Also i3 processor enough to run solidworks?
You should be able to install Solidworks on a External drive if it is mounted correctly, if you run into errors I would recommend googling those errors, as they are windows errors not Solidworks ones. You can leave the install files anywhere for this. An i3 can run Solidworks, however it will struggle with more complex parts and assemblies and won't be good if you want to do simulations.
At 2:10 you pressed "Unzip"; when I do it I get an error message that says I have a damaged ZIP file. What programs do you have on your computer that allow you to unzip? WinRAR? 7Zip?
Hi, its a self containted ZIP file so it does not require an external program to extract, you could try installing winzip but I would first recommend redownloading the installer to ensure the issue is not with that.
You were likely given what is termed a "Student Standard" to "SDK" serial number, this does not come with toolbox. If this is not the case speak to your lecturer.
It is dependent on what products you select, your lecturers have been given a document to share with you that can reduce the download size. The lowest it can be is ~3.1GB
But I don't have the 9020 serial number, what should I do??? It asks for SDK-ID if I select "No". What to do in this case??? My lecturer doesn't provide this serial number...
Solidworks cannot natively run on a Mac, you'll either need to install Windows via bootcamp, or use a virtual machine like parallels to run it within the MacOS.
The download is only the installation manager, it should download all the files required to install, ensure that on the page at 3:52 you select "Download and Install". If you wish to download the full installation files beforehand, on the page at 2:34, select "Download and Share". This will download the whole 16GB of install files.

Hi, This then means solidworks is already installed on your system. Please search for it to launch it as needed. Contact your lecturer if you encounter any further issues.
Mid download it stops at either 30 or 50% and says I have to download things manually, I do that and press next and it says it’s an error because it says Manually downloaded files aren’t in the file needed
This is often an issue with a bad internet connection, you can reduce the download size by deselecting many of the options to only install what you need or try a downloading from a different network.

Do you have internet access? If so, do you have a serial number on active subscription? You won't be able to download if the serial number is old or intended for an older version.
When I get to the page where I am supposed to uncheck the electrical, the only option I have is eDrawings which only comes out to be a couple megabites.. Not seeing any solidworks even when I try different serial codes from my school, any ideas?

Hello, I tried downloading and installing SolidWorks on my computer. I feel like I did everything right, but when I try to open the program a box pops up asking if I want to start my 30 day grace period. That doesn't look like it fits with the video. Can you please help me figure out what I did wrong. My program is with a university.

@@madisonrobbins8690 The grace period is normally 30 days for activation, thus if your internet is down or you are struggling to activate, you'll have 30 days to get the activation done before it will stop working.
There are two types of student serial numbers, yours is likely the one that doesn't include flow simulation, OR you did not install flow simulation(hence why its not showing up in the activation option). If you don't need flow simulation then this is fine.
Hi There, if your University, College or Educational Institute has bought Solidworks, you can get the SEK/SDK serial number from them, otherwise you can buy the student edition directly from Solidworks, hope this helps.

It sounds like you're trying to install a server edition? Possibly the serial number you are using is a server serial number and not the standalone one. If you bought education edition from a VAR, then they should be able to give you the SEK serial number as well for standalone installations.
Student Licenses validity is dependent on when the Universities subscription expires, the University or lecturer will know how long a license is valid. You can check this in your side by going to Help > Licenses > Show and in the "Activation Expires" column you'll see when the license expires.

Hi is it possible to install student edition while you completed your course 2 years after or no longer studying in the college where you completed your cwsa?
If you still have access to a valid student serial number then you can install it, without a valid serial number this will not be possible (these are gotten from your lecturer or the university).
Please speak to your lecturer regarding this issue or post the error on the 3DExperience Solidworks student group, someone there should be able to assist.
Sir, I've downloaded the Student version of SolidWorks 2019, but when I try to open it after I installed it, it just generates a crash report automatically. And it just goes like that over and over. I've tried pretty much everything, uninstalling the program, opening SolidWorks in SafeMode etc. Is there any hope? I really need the program to work, and my teacher doesn't either know how to solve this problem. I would be very thankful if you could help me out. My laptop is a new Dell XPS 15 9500.

@@karlclapp3309 That wasn't really the case for me though. It was a small thing that was causing the error, basically the region that was set on my Windows 10. I've changed it to US and it magically worked.
I would suggest posting the error message and the steps you took either to the student communities on the 3DExperience platform, or on the Solidworks Subreddit.
Hi Selaelo, you must run the .exe file, it will then place a "sldim" folder down in the location you specified, as well as a setup.exe file. Run the setup.exe file to start the installation manager, from there you can proceed with the install. The download from the website as mentioned in the video is only the installation manager, not all the files required for Solidworks, the installation manager should download the rest of the files you need.

Student licenses are renewed every year. It is best to get the new license serial number from your lecturer every year, that way you can be always up to date and on the latest version of Solidworks.
