This is a great video, safety is very important and I'm the fastest out of all my friends so I have to slow down the most after a race and where I live it's next to impossible to not have any traffic so we need to give a bunch of space since the other peoples safety is the most important and it's not gonna be fun if someone gets hurt.
If your car is boosted (turbo) the closest to redline idea doesn’t work. It works for N/A cars like the mustang in the video! But on boosted cars you may need to learn your car and where it hits boost before you do rolls. For example my GTIs 2nd gear goes all the way up to 75mph but when doing a 60 roll I use 3rd gear because my turbo doesn’t hit boost from 6k to 7k rpms.
Funny that he said that, bcuz I literally only do roll races, in order to protect my car, especially since I don't street race people often. I refuse to tear my shit up!
yoyo. so i have a 09 corvette. youd say there are no circumstances when you want traction control on when doing a roll? what about launching from a stop? thanks man good vid
From a dig I still have everything off. If you're on a slick and have your air pressure set up right along with decent suspension, you shouldn't spin. However with street tires, you'll never dead hook from a dig. You still want to have it off, you just have to pedal it out. The main limitation on a dig race is your tire. Hope I earned a sub
You forgot about finding your sweet spot, my car revs up to 7k, torque starts at 2.5k rpm and hp at 5.5k I start losing torque at 5k rpms so I should shift at 5k or 4.5k going red line won’t help me at all would actually slow me down. Just depends on the car and driver
Hey man so I have a 2014 mustang and we don’t have like a button to always keep it in sport mode . So my questions is wouldn’t I lose speed if I down shift we’ll in sport manual and then drop it back into drive . Rather then keeping it in sport mode since the car goes faster in sport ?
Not really. It's more for rainy conditions. I turn off traction control in the snow as well bc my Mustang won't drive in the snow with traction control on. It's weird as shit lol
For some reason when I get my 10 speed down to a gear and I punch the gas and shift to drive mode the car stays stuck in the gear I left off instead of changing gears
I have a Camaro ive been putting it into manual mode/sport mode, manually shifting down, and sending it. Then putting it into drive like you say, is it bad to shift back into manual/sport mode again quickly. I heard it holds the gears longer
So for roll racing a 10r80 5.0 . Sport to drive before hitting red line on drag mode . But which traction should be off ? Normal or advanced ? I tried normal once and the rear tires chirped a little I’m kinda scared to fully turn in it off . I got 305’s nittos
What if you pop it back to drive as it gets close to red line? Say I’m doing a 60 and go to 2nd, 3rd gear with rpms up to 4500-6000 I punch it and soon as it gets close to 7000-7500 rpm pop it in D so computer can do the rest of the shifting
BTW to remind you, I don't have a S or M on the shift pattern. Mines is a separate button that changes it to sport auto or sport manual, or convenience auto or convenience manual. The only other way to put it in manual is to move the shifter left or right or hit the paddles, and whether it'll be in sport or convenience depends on what its already on for that method. Nevertheless, so what do I do if I want to respond to that random bully that rolls up on me? Do I hit a quick downshift and then upshift or use your method which would probably be tricky in my car! I have an S55 AMG, 2006 model!
@@chrisgrant3822 ahhh okay so there's 2 reasons. First is some people think by putting their hazards on it'll bypass the speed limiter on the car (it doesn't) The main reason people do it is it's a sign of disrespect to the person you're racing. Like "haha I gapped you"
Hi, for roll racing acceleration would I get faster acceleration if tyre pressure is low because it will result in smaller rolling circumference? I don't care much for traction because my car isn't high powered
The circumference isn't changing when you air down, just how the tires grip the road. Good out of the box question, but won't be any noticeable difference
@@R3VIVALGT thanks man i appreciate your knowledge. I got a 370z NA and thinking of taking it to Eastern Creek roll racing for first time. I don't care about traction because my car isn't high powered. There is a debate going on, some say if using low tyre pressure is will reduce the rolling circumference which in result make car accelerate quicker but some say with the low tyre pressure there is more rolling resistance and won't make it go quicker. I don't know which to believe. Do you know anything about this?
@@r.k862 I'll give you a perfect example. At the track, on a street tire I have a higher trap speed but slower time (due to lack of traction and spinning). On a drag slick, which has much less air but greatly increased traction, I have a lower trap speed but a faster time due to what you said, rolling resistance. The rolling circumference thing is thought of by people who are wayyy overthinking things. If you drive fast enough on a flat tire it'll still be the same size due to the centrifugal force of the tire spinning. A smaller wheel AND tire will actually decrease not only rotational mass but will result in a higher speed if traction is maintained.
@@R3VIVALGT thanks. My car placard says about 37psi is recommended. If I am not looking for traction but I am looking for fast acceleration what max psi should I set it at?
Question if my car gets sketchy af (2019 Mustang GT 10A PP1 w/ E85 on a lund tune straight piped & Roush cold box CAI.) w/ traction on even in rolls. Obviously I need tires but would it still benefit me to throw that sucker all the way off I.E hold trac off for 5 seconds? Awesome vid btw very informative
Yes hold the traction button 5-7 seconds. It will help, you'll just have to pedal it out. A little bit of spin is still faster than your speed being cut by traction control. Just make sure you control it and let out of it just blows the tires out. Hope I earned a sub from you friend 👍
Hey yo I have 10 r 80 mustang When i do S to D its delaying for shifting Basically it’s happening after a install New tune in the car Before the tune it was fine Is cause of bad Tune in my car Or something else Other then that car is totally normal Why is it causing can u exaplain?
Just don't hold it there for a super long time and it'll be fine. In the 5.0 it's perfectly safe, the only problems you run into are the oil pump gears and crank sprockets breaking, but that's really only if you're bouncing it off your limiter.
Nope but if your racing your car a lot it’s going to hurt the motor, clutch, tires etc... get over it or don’t race, don’t bitch around shifting early and slowly have some fun and win some races
How does the car feel? Go up there and find out. The redline is the maximum "safe" limit the manufacturer sets. I have a 87rx7 the redline is whatever doesn't drop too much power. After 7k it's a decline in power
Your car can handle higher than redline, but it's limited by the factory to not over spin. Like my car's stock redline was around 7200 and with a tune it's now 7800. It's perfectly safe to hit the stock limiter in your car. have fun
You don't want to hurt anybody else yourself or you beautiful shit box. Lmfao I claim my car is a piece of shit when talking but on the road she's a beast
No they didn't have their TC on, because if they didn't they wouldn't do a 360 into the oncoming lane and hit pedestrians. And most of those clowns don't know how to recover from a fish tail or tail spin. You literally can watch those videos and hear them mashing the gas pedal while in the middle of a tail spin or fish tail. That's a driver mod issue not a TC issue. TC off exacerbates the issue to a higher degree and what it comes down to is people just can't fucking drive. That said yes Safety is #1 and TC on is not the culprit in those videos.
Doing this is throwing the shift strategy off. It’s better to start in D get to desired gear then gas it and let the computer do the rest. There’s no reason to be in S unless you need to hold the gear for a longer period of time
