Eric, Your first video on dumping the tanks was good, this one though is as close to perfect as an RV HOWTO video can get. It's awesome to see how far you've come with the quality of your videos over the years!

I have to agree, I really have no issue with dumping the tanks, no big deal. After a couple of years fulltime on the road, we have not had any problems with our tanks at all. Even in the previous 20+ years of RVing no issues. Keep up the good work!

The only thing I can add is when pulling the valve handle, make sure you pull it straight out. #2 once the valve handle is out, once a month I'll spray WD40 on the metal stem to keep it free-moving. When I have two people as a couple, the other person can be inside and running some water as a extra flush.

I've been a backpacker, hiker, fly fisherman, for years. Now I have kids and it's time to take them camping. We have been out a bit but just bought a trailer. While I captain this RV and they watch me in awe at my knowledge, it's our secret that I learned about the tanks from you. Your video helps me look like a hero to my wife and kids. FYI, I had a pretty good idea how to do it. But it's great to get confirmation from someone who has done it many, many times. Keep up the good work. Chris

Hello, Nomadic Fanatic: Ok, so have to share my first time experience emptying my RV's holding tank after watching your video. A couple of days ago I finally went to a state park that has an RV dumping station. There was one RVer in front of me preparing to empty his tank so I thought I'd observe as a refresher. Cool. I had everything all ready so I would not have to open compartments, take stuff out, etc. When my turn came, I drove up and it went as follows: Mistake #1 - I did not park the RV exactly so the tank would be over the indented ramp. Mistake #2 - I grabbed the long hose/connector (with the clear attachment as I believe you showed before), unscrewed the cap so I could hook up the hose and... wait for it: Liquid started pouring out immediately! Brownish, stinky water all over the place...yuck. Thankfully, an experienced guy was waiting behind and he immediately came over and pushed the lever back in. Apparently, the levers had been left opened by the previous owner and, because I never saw anything leaking, I assumed everything was closed (in all fairness to my naivete, my late husband always took care of these tasks). While the helpful RVer did that, I was flushing the area and my shoes with clean water. I am thankful you stressed wearing gloves (although I would have done so regardless). I'm also very glad I had a spare set of socks and shoes in the RV! After both black/grey water had been flushed, I cleaned the hose per your instructions and proceeded to put everything away. The RVer who helped and I had a good laugh about it. I can tell you one thing for sure: that will never happen to me again!

Nice vid. I would suggest using some rubbing alcohol, or lysol on the spigot of the fresh water, then rinsing it before hooking up my hose, especially if I plan on drinking it. You never know what the last user did with it, or what condition their hoses were in.

22 August 2018 (Wed) Nomadic Fanatic: really appreciated your common sense approach to maintaining your RV. We are in the process of either purchasing an older model Winnebago Warrior for under $12,000.00 or purchasing a newer Winnebago model with modern headlights. (2008 Winnebago Itasca, example) for $47K. The price swing is huge. But considering an older model would promote us to upgrade the entire interior and replacing the older amenities and smells. Would enjoy reading what your subscribers think about the older model purchase and replacing the interior with updated amenities verses the newer model with those amenities. Thanks creative group

We are RV newbies (1.5 mos old), and just dumped our tank today for the first time, we let it go until nothing was coming out, however our indicator light still showed 2/3 full. But with more practice and helpful videos like yours, we will get it mastered! And thank god we can use any TP, I have a whole brand new Costco pkg of TP, and only 1 roll of MH TP left. Thanks guys!

Excellent job, planning on buying our first small camper this summer and this makes the process very simple for a newbie. Good to hear about the paper type, amazed that people even buy the stuff an RV store sells, until this video I was really sure if it was a money making racket but now I now. Walmart is is. I watched a video earlier on dumping a cassette toilet but not many campers have these and it looked easy but so did this. Filter idea is a very good idea.

Great vid. Jealous of the size of your tanks. We have a UK '91 Mercedes C class and it has a 3 gallon Black tank (yes, 3 gallon) that you remove from the RV and empty by pouring it out, a 12 gallon grey tank and a 12 gallon fresh water tank. It lasts us and our 3 kids about 3 days. Love your practical vids the best and the little tips and upgrades you do....roll on!

Hi Eric! We camp about 4 months out of year so we are not full timers, nor do we travel that much. I agree with you on the toilet paper for someone like you that is on the go all the time. The motion of the camper as you are traveling will keep the "Angel Soft" toilet paper from sticking to sides, etc. However we stay in a place for up to three weeks and there is no motion. I would be afraid in those situations to use regular toilet paper. Just a thought....might not be correct, but just something to think about because I sure wouldn't want to clog up those lines....Great video as usual...really enjoy watching you and living through your adventures.

Agree with others, simple excellent direction and even some of the comments from others has given me more confidence after we pick up our Lance 1575 in a couple weeks...on our way on a camping trip. We've owned an Aframe, without toilet, so we know a number of things about TT's, but things like black tank dumping is new to us. Thanks brother!

Your video editing skills have improved immensely in the past several months. This is a very professional presentation, one of your best. I think 4 minutes is a little rushed, but I agree, it should not take long. It is a good idea to have a spray bottle of bleach to use also, and some places (I understand) require that you use a threaded adapter on the dump pipe in the ground.

I just changed the faucet aerator in my kitchen this morning and the old one actually had what appeared to be tiny bits of sand or gravel in it And I'm on City water.
