Hehe, well easy is relative. I have put in a lot of time practicing, so don't get discouraged if you don't get it first try. Practice will help you find the lines you want faster. Just keep at it and you will get better :)
*FINALLY A FRICKEN TEACHER OF ART THATS RIGHT HANDEDD* um lmao i wrote this like like last year and i never knew it had so many likes i’m not an army anymore and also i have no idea why i said “teacher of art” don’t come at me 😍
@@meatmangler8215 well 70-95% are righties, 5-30% are lefties, and an indeterminate amount are ambidextrious. but ive seen more vids of lefties drawing than righties. Theres also ambidextrous people (use both right and left hands)
I know I’m 4 years late, but I still wanted to say thank you!! I gave up drawing for many years but had always wanted to get back into it yet didn’t know where to begin! This video has helped me tremendously!
I just tested these, and I AM SO HAPPY! Literally all I’ve needed is a tutorial for exactly this style of face. I am so thankful. Thank you so so much for this! Ps you’re such a good artist!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for all these rules, when I stared drawing some years ago I just have the "put the eyes there, the nose here and lips here" now that I want to retake drawing this is very useful. Thank you again.
Hey Marietta! I am so glad that this tutorial helped you! Hair is one of the most popular requests I've had. I am actually working on a tutorial for it right now :) Good luck practicing!
Hey Marietta! I just finished editing a How to Draw Hair video, and it's up now for my Patron Supporters, and it should be up this Friday for the general public :) Good Luck and Keep Drawing!
This is the style I was looking for! Not exactly this style but it's almost the same, just change the eyebrows and mouth!! Thank you very very very much!!
This was so so helpful! Most people don't describe everything well enough, but man did you describe this perfectly! I totally understand how to do this now! Thank You so much!!!!!
Although I am from Russia, I write and speak English almost fluently. I watch Chris’s videos literally every day, they really help to develop skills) Thank you!
I'm a left handed drawer who recently wanted to get back into art... I've wanted to draw people for so long, and although my portions are a bit off, you have helped me! Also, I will say that I need to practice a lot more and draw a LOT lighter, but... I'll get there. Thanks.
Literally the best tutorial I've seen (ever) on how to draw a face (including & showing the concept behind the skull, anatomy, etc.). Great stuff. Thank you!
Tbh your a better art teacher then the one I have at school the art teacher I have at school just plays a quick video and tells us to draw what he drew?!?!?! LIKE HOW
I have been looking for an art tutorial for months and then asked my aunt who is an artist and this is so helpful for a young artist thank you for making these how to draw videos
this both videos are amazing, thanks a lot for sharing all this tips and explanations. I also love your style, please, keep on going with this channel, the videos are great :3
Thank you! I'm so glad you likes them and the tips :D Will be posting more how to videos as soon as I can. I have a bunch of stuff lined up right now, so it may be a little while :P
I will always remember u as my first art teacher Kids: mommy, who taught u how to draw? Me: sit down children, for Chris Wharton was my beloved first art teacher ever, he was a hero! Kids: *sit down* ok, tell us everything he did mommy!
I’m the only one who is watching this in 2020. AND TYSM U HELPED ME SO MUCH LOVE YOU. I have always wanted to draw like this and u helped me.Thank you so much.
great job man. i literally put down my pen cuz i was getting frustrated. then i watched this video and i just inspired the heck out of me and followed right along with the video and im so happy with my results. thanx a lot.
I have a really difficult time shaping the cheek and jaw area. It’s alway too fat, too narrow, too high, too low, or just generally shaped strange. I wind up with not enough room for the mouth and/or really thrown off proportions. I don’t get what I’m doing wrong, I’ve followed a number of video tutorials as well as done a few art books. Anyone have tips on shaping the cheeks/jaw?
Thanks for the vid! I had some old and incorrect rules in my head and didn't understand why my faces always looked kinda awkward... Hopefully it works out better now! I love your drawing style by the way :)
Your welcome! And I know what you mean. Cartoons are sort of elastic and totally style dependent. Most of the time its good to figure out the structure behind the character you are trying to draw. What size and shape each bit it when compared to the whole, then practice it from as many angles as you can :)
You wouldn't happen to know some good references for exact measurements for "classic" style cartooning such as you would find in the Preston Blair book? Such a "Looney Toons" or "Disney" type of characters? I keep looking and all I can is partial information or they just fall back on "just draw circles". I'm the kind of artist that needs it spelled out for him but I have every intention of practicing it vigorously until I get it right. On a similar note, I am developing a free program to aid artists with studying, if you could look it over an give any suggestions for additions that you might thing would help artist practice please let me know. The Preston Blair books are the first ones that came to mind, but I would also recommend the books Action Cartooning and Fantasy Cartooning by Ben Caldwell. They are good but even those aren't as thorough as some of the Preston Blair books. As for your program, I will try and look it over when I have the time. Thanks for dropping the link :)
Indeed, mostly it's with "fantasizing" the proportions. So much time spent on "normal" proportion but how often are characters drawing with those, yes? Thank you, and please help spread the word for it if you'd can. I'm making it to help the art community as a whole and I'd appreciate any help I could get.
I loved watching this. It was as encouraging as it was discouraging, haha. Good ol' artist's complex is strong with me. I'm definitely gonna try this stuff out next time I draw something!
Haha! I hear ya, and I sincerely hope it helps you. We are all a work in progress. Heck, it took me over a year to feel comfortable drawing lips when I was 11-12 (drew them obsessively) and I still feel like I am learning everyday. Good luck to you!
Why is this guy so good!? Artist: Now I'm just going to doodle a bit *draws mona lisa* Me: Now Im just going to doodle a bit *draws lopsided stick figure
Your welcome. Tracing is a valid way to practice, but your better off tracing in order to learn the underlying structures an artist used so that it's easier to build your own drawings. That will help you get better faster :D Good luck!
First your grammar is so bad and second you can't judge him like that.I know you have your own opinion but the next time you judge people learn English and then judge^^
Thank you so much, I've been avoiding drawing people and characters for years now but this has helped me and I can draw them better. I'm so grateful right now
Chris Wharton Haha I tried and I think I just need more practice and a better understanding for it, but it helped a lot to just think of the nose as a pyramid shape!!
Hey man, first of all this is great, thank you so much for sharing in such an easy to follow way! Secondly (I've only started learning how to draw over the last few months) When changing up facial features - eyes, lips, mouths etc. Would you recommend looking at specific art for this or just trial and error with different shapes and sizes?
You're very welcome my friend! As for your question, it's really up to your particular preference of style. I think if you want to get a face to look like a specific artists style or a specific expression, your best bet is to look at how others do it and try to find out why you find it appealing and learn the underlying structures of those parts of the face. once you can break down the pieces you can put them together however you like. Good luck!
I have managed to excel and become a "master" or the realistic drawing style, but I have always struggled with these cute animated looks, this was very helpful
