Update: Hey, this is Mister Jerrold. I made and posted this video about five years ago. Then I forgot about it until earlier this year when I saw it had over 900,000 views (?!). Thank you to everybody who has watched it and many, many thanks to those of you who have left comments. I would like to make more art instruction videos so if there is anything you'd like to see, leave a request in the comments and I'll do my best to record some new tutorials.

Help!,,Quite helpful except for one question . What if the right street is curved? I get the eye level but where would the vanishing point be?

It depends where on the horizon it disappeared. My road disappears in the center of the page, but yours might disappear somewhere else. The best thing to do would be to get some scrap paper and scribble a couple tests. Don't even try to make it tidy and neat. Just quickly draw something like ten or twelve horizons and curved roads. Whichever one feels the most right to you, will be the best one.

I used your video with my 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students and they all absolutely loved it! We watched it once, all of the way through, then we went back and did each step. It was easy and fun. As a non-art person teaching art, all I can say is THANK YOU!

You should try watercolors. No planning, just make some colors on paper. It can be a lot more relaxing than a drawing like this. Good luck!
