In this video, I'll show you how to draw an octagon using your compass. This is a very simple method because it is used to draw a square as well. Using these simple construction methods you should be able to draw an octagon

So perfect, I'm not completely special...but I could not, and would not have figured that out on my own! Thanks so much! PSA- If you are not getting a good octagon, then your compass is loose and moving- tighten it or buy a good one :)

Guaranteed your compass was loose and moving. I was using my kids cheap one and had to clamp it every time...finally broke down and ventured out into the garage for my good one 😂😂

not all polygons can be constructed using compass and straightedge though. Only those with 2^n multiplied by product of fermat primes number of sides
